Catherine visits behind the scenes at museum stores
The museum, which has its main building in South Kensington, has more than 600,000 objects in newly-opened store rooms at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Catherine had a behind-the-scenes tour, where she praised how the public will be able to get a closer view of more of the museum's historic items.
The V&A East Storehouse is a purpose-built arts storage centre, intended to widen access and "unlock" the collection of art, design and fashion items, much of which is not usually on display.
"What a fantastic idea to have all these pieces to learn from - so they're not just behind the scenes and stored away somewhere. You can see them in person and up close," said Catherine.
"What an opportunity for everyone to see historic pieces first hand," she said, praising the "eclectic" collection.
Catherine was shown around the store's cavernous rooms by the museum's director Tristram Hunt and she saw examples of conservation work on textiles in the collection.
Mr Hunt showed the princess some examples of textiles by the Victorian designer, William Morris, and she said how much she liked the foliage design.
She spoke to the museum director about how some of the historic textiles on show could still look contemporary.
The museum stores, free to visitors, has an "order an object" service which allows visitors to book an appointment to see an object close up and get information about it from museum staff.
According to royal sources, the purpose of the visit was to highlight the importance of creative opportunity and to celebrate the "power of creativity".

Owner of viral $1.3M Indianapolis home for sale talks listing, trolls and his unique style
When you sell your home, a private space becomes public as strangers see inside every corner, both online and in person. Indianapolis artist Adam Stoner has experienced that more than most, as his listing has gone viral with more than 100,000 views on Zillow and countless posts and comments online. And when it comes to real estate and art, as they say, everyone's a critic. "What was once my creative environment is now everyone else's experience," Stoner said. "So until we sell, it's more like a hotel now, which I didn't expect." Stoner, owner of the Salt House Tattoo in Franklin and a media personality with a popular YouTube show and podcast, has handled the online criticism with grace and humor. Stoner discussed the viral listing on his YouTube show, explaining his love for the home and his understanding that everyone's style is unique while adding his signature brand of humor. He laughingly read several of the negative comments, like "100 percent a magician lived here," before taking his viewers on an MTV Cribs-style tour of the home to show what makes it perfect for him and, hopefully, a buyer. "Honestly, it's not been fun," Stoner told IndyStar of the negative online comments. "I think that's why I've been having so much fun with it online. People that are rude don't expect me to joke back." We talked to Stoner about what inspired his vision for the home, listed for $1.399M, with gleaming black and white epoxy floors, Chinese temple doors circa the 1500s and more. "I like to make every environment I have an environment that inspires me," he said. "Being a tattoo artist, I need to feel creative in every corner of my life in order to give my clients my best. My shop, the 'Salt House,' is a Victorian dark history private tattoo studio complete with gold and old. So when I come home, I want the silver side of the coin." The massive home has more than 8,500 sq ft, 5 bedrooms, 5 1/2 baths, a resort-style pool, a recording studio and a 9-seat movie theatre. With all that space, we asked Stoner about his favorite feature. "Everyone that comes over loves the movie theater. Hands down for me, my recording studio," he said. "That's where I live most of the time, making music, documentaries, my show, designing tattoos and more." While Stoner waits for the home to sell, the main takeaway seems to be to ignore the noise and do what makes you happy, especially when it comes to your own home. "Decorating the way we did allowed us to be on vacation every day."

The Princess Of Wales Just Rewore The Perfect Blazer For The Changeable British Summer - And It's On Sale
Catherine The Princess of Wales today made a special visit to a wellbeing garden at Colchester Hospital - and while meeting patrons and patients also managed to look perfectly chic in wearing a favourite blazer that's perfect for the changing British summer. While yesterday a visit to the Essex hospital may have meant battling sweltering heat in a summer dress, the cooling weather saw Catherine choose a Blazé Milano blazer she's worn at least twice publicly, pairing it with a pin-striped shirt and brown trousers, and her favourite white Veja trainers. While the princess has worn the blazer - perfect for smartening up any outfit, but also keeping off any unexpected chill UK weather might throw at us - twice publicly, it is still available, an on sale. She has worn is in 2023 at a Royal Air Force Tattoo visit and in a portrait at home in an image released in June 2024 giving an update on her health. Catherine today visited the RHS Wellbeing Garden as 50 Catherine's Rose plants were donated to the site. The roses were named after the princess by the RHS and finds from the sales go to the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. She even planted one. The Daily Mail reports that Princess Catherine - still known to many as Kate Middleton - also visited the hospitals cancer wellbeing centre, meeting patients, volunteers and staff. Speaking about her recovery from cancer, the Princess reportedly said finding a new normal was 'a rollercoaster' adding: 'You're not able to function normally at home as you once used to.' She added, say The Daily Mail: 'You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment, treatment's done, then it's like "I can crack on, get back to normal' but actually the phase afterwards is really, really difficult.' 'You're not necessarily under the clinical team any longer but you're not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to. And actually someone to help talk you through that, show you and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment I think is really valuable. 'But it's life-changing for anyone, through first diagnosis or post treatment, both for the patient but also for the families as well. And actually it sometimes goes unrecognised, you don't necessarily, particularly when it's the first time, appreciate how much impact it is going to have. 'You have to find your new normal and that takes time... and it's a rollercoaster, it's not smooth, like you expect it to be. But the reality is you go through hard times. And to have a place like this, to have the support network, through creativity and singing or gardening whatever it might be is so valuable and it's great this community has it.'
