'Placed Hands Inside My Blouse': Beauty Queen Alleges Sexual Assault By Priest In Malaysia
The actor described how the priest poured a strong-smelling liquid into the water, claiming it was sacred and not meant for 'ordinary people' before assaulting her.
Indian-origin actor and television host Lishalliny Kanaran has accused a priest of molesting her under the pretext of giving her a blessing in Malaysia. As the local police started the manhunt for the priest, Kanaran shared her ordeal via a post on Instagram.
According to her post, the incident took place last Saturday at Mariamman Temple in Sepang, and came to light after she posted about it on her social media handle.
Lishalliny, who had been visiting the temple regularly in recent weeks to deepen her spiritual connection, said she went alone that day as her mother was in India. In a detailed statement shared online, she recounted how the priest, who typically guided her through rituals, approached her during prayer and offered to bless her with 'holy water and a protective string."
As she finished praying, the priest asked her to she waited for an hour for the priest before following him to his separate office where he claimed to perform special blessings. 'Even as I followed, something didn't feel right. Something in my gut was uneasy," she wrote.
Inside the room, she described how the priest poured a strong-smelling liquid into the water, claimed it was sacred and not meant for 'ordinary people," and began splashing it on her face. 'He said it was from India, and that they don't usually give it to 'ordinary people'… so much that my eyes stung and I couldn't even open them," she said.
What followed was deeply disturbing. 'Then, without warning, he put his hands inside my blouse, into my bra, and started touching me inappropriately," she revealed.
While Kanaran knew it was wrong, she stood there frozen.
'My brain knew everything about that moment was wrong, and yet I couldn't move. I couldn't speak. I froze. And I still don't understand why," she said.
The incident left her shocked and traumatized. She told her mother about it on returning to India, who then filed a complaint on July 4.
But when they went to the temple, the priest was reported to have absconded.
'Apparently, the priest wasn't there anymore. Someone had already reported him before for the same thing and yet no action had been taken," she said.
Kanaran also said that the temple authority, instead of helping her, tried to save their name and hide the incident.
'The suspect is an Indian national who was temporarily filling the position because the temple's resident priest is currently abroad," ACP Norhizam said in a statement to Malay Mail.
'The suspect's modus operandi was allegedly to sprinkle holy water on the victim's face and body before proceeding to molest her," he added.

She further revealed that the veteran filmmaker was undergoing treatment at Guru Nanak Hospital under Dr Manish Shetty. He had also been admitted to Jaslok Hospital earlier. Barot was born and raised in Tanzania. After working at a bank, he decided to move to India and, under the mentorship of Manoj Kumar, joined the film industry. Chandra not only gave Indian cinema the cult classic Don but also worked as an assistant director on films like Purab Aur Pashchim, Yaadgaar, Shor, and Roti Kapda Aur Makaan. Marking a major turning point, Barot and his associates decided to produce Don, bringing on board acclaimed writers Salim–Javed, who provided a script that had been rejected by leading filmmakers like Dev Anand, Dharmendra, and Jeetendra. After Don, Barot directed the Bengali film Aashrita (1989) and Pyar Bhara Dil (1991), but many of his subsequent projects, including Boss and Neil Ko Pakadna… Impossible, remained unfinished or unreleased. Meanwhile, his Don franchise became so popular that it developed its own universe. Shah Rukh Khan starred in the 2006 film of the same title but with a different storyline—an ode to Chandra's work. Later, Shah Rukh made a prequel to his Don, and now Farhan Akhtar is directing the third part in the franchise with Ranveer Singh playing the hero and Kriti Sanon starring as the female lead. At the time of his passing, Chandra Barot had been battling pulmonary fibrosis for several years and was undergoing treatment in Mumbai. According to a new report now, the filming is expected to begin in early August. Sources close to the production revealed to Mid-Day that the shoot will start in Mumbai before moving to Ladakh. A large set is currently being constructed at Mehboob Studio, which is expected to be ready by the end of July. 'The Mehboob Studio schedule is crucial as [the team] has to shoot some of the early character-building moments there before the team heads to Ladakh for the high-octane action. The art and production design team has been working round the clock to recreate the textures inside the studio. It's a detailed set that will add authenticity to the story," a source shared, confirming that Salman will be present from the first day of shoot. The next leg of filming will shift to Ladakh, where the team is preparing for more physically demanding sequences. 'Salman has been in prep mode for the role since May," another insider told the publication. The Ladakh schedule reportedly involves night shoots, combat training, and full-scale battle sequences. Speaking earlier about his preparation for the role, Salman admitted it has been tough on his body. 'It's physically intense. With each passing year, month, and day, it becomes more challenging. I have to invest a lot more time now. Earlier, I could get into shape in just a week or two, but this time I'm running, kicking, punching — doing it all," he said.
