Why William Shatner (Star Trek's Captain Kirk) is tweeting about Chandrayaan-II
William Shatner
. Known for his bold leadership, iconic one-liners, and deep-space diplomacy, Kirk became a symbol of space exploration in pop culture.
Recently, Shatner posted about Chandrayaan 2 and this has sparked curiosity among his fans given the fact his iconic character Captain Kirk, never landed on the moon.
It all started when William Shatner, our favorite Captain Kirk posted on X about a 'calendar glitch'. "If it's the end of the week; why does my phone's calendar have the first day start on Sunday?," he posted and this invited a series of replies, one among which was "This is why I'm never gonna believe you landed on the moon. How could you pull that off in 1969 and you still don't know that the first day of the week is Sunday?"
Shatner's reply to this quirky comment was, "Well the Chandrayaan-2 ship took some amazing photos of the lunar surface including images of 2 of the Apollo modules that were left on the surface.
That was before the ship crashed adding another crater to the surface."
Now, as expected the post got viral and fans quickly asked "Did Shatner land on moon?".
No, Captain Kirk did not land on the Moon. But let's be honest, if anyone should have landed on the Moon wearing a Starfleet uniform and dropping one-liners about boldly going where no man has gone before, it's Captain James T. Kirk.
Now, when people say 'Captain Kirk,' they usually mean William Shatner, the actor who played the iconic starship captain on Star Trek: The Original Series. That show launched back in the 1960s, right around the same time

So it's easy to understand why some wires get crossed in people's minds. But while the Enterprise was out dodging Klingons and beaming down to alien planets, the real NASA team was doing something a little more down-to-Earth or rather, up-to-Moon.
The actual Moon landing happened in 1969, when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to step onto the lunar surface during the Apollo 11 mission. Shatner, meanwhile, was probably filming an episode where he was wrestling a lizard man or kissing a green alien.
Groundbreaking in its own way, sure but not exactly NASA material.
That said, Shatner has had quite the real-life space adventure of his own. In October 2021, he actually did go to space sort of. At age 90, he became the oldest person ever to fly into space aboard Blue Origin's New Shepard, a suborbital spaceflight owned by Jeff Bezos. So yes, William Shatner went to space, but no moon boots were involved. Just a quick 11-minute joyride that gave him a taste of zero gravity and a view of Earth from above.
Still, pretty epic.
And let's not forget the symbolic influence Captain Kirk has had on space travel. Shatner's portrayal of a brave, diplomatic, and occasionally shirtless space explorer inspired generations of scientists, engineers, and yes, even astronauts. NASA has openly acknowledged Star Trek's influence on tech and space culture, from real-life communicators (hello, smartphones) to actual mission names that nod to Trek.
So, to wrap it up: Captain Kirk never landed on the Moon, but his legacy has absolutely orbited our collective imagination when it comes to exploring the cosmos. William Shatner may not have left footprints in lunar dust, but he did help kick-start the dream for a whole lot of people who one day might.

'Stung your a**': Channing Crowder torches Hallie Aiono, accuses her of using pregnancy to scam NFL star Puka Nacua
Channing Crowder torches Hallie Aiono (Image via Bleacher Report) In a jaw-dropping segment from The Pivot Podcast, former NFL linebacker Channing Crowder tore into Hallie Aiono, the pregnant girlfriend of Los Angeles Rams star Puka Nacua, following her paternity petition filed in Los Angeles County last month. The 18-year-old wide receiver, known for his breakout rookie season, now finds himself in the middle of a growing controversy that extends far beyond the football field. Hallie Aiono files for full physical custody amid paternity questions Hallie Aiono, who began dating Nacua during his college days at BYU, filed a paternity suit on June 16, requesting legal confirmation of Nacua's paternity, full physical custody of their unborn son, and shared legal custody covering education, healthcare, and financial expenses. This follows her emotional Mother's Day Instagram post, in which she wrote, 'You were something we always dreamt of, but I have never been so afraid... I can't wait to love you forever, my sweet boy.' The story took a turn after Crowder made his views clear, casting serious doubt on Aiono's intentions and character during Saturday's podcast episode. Channing Crowder doesn't hold back, calls the situation a 'spider's web' Crowder held nothing back as he speculated on Aiono's behavior and what it could have meant for Nacua's future. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: One simple trick to get internet without a subscription Techno Mag Learn More Undo He even suggested that the Rams receiver was fortunate to escape long-term financial entanglement. 'Congratulations, brother. You got out the spider's web before it stung your ass,' Crowder said. 'She helped him out with this... You don't even know who was skating in you and when you got skated in.' According to Crowder, the situation saved Nacua from potentially paying child support for 18 years. 'This was great for him. Think about it. 18 years. If he had paid for this baby and did all this—18 years. 18 years,' he emphasized. Crowder also brought cultural context into the conversation, highlighting Polynesian values of family loyalty and the pressure Nacua might have felt to stay with Aiono had he believed the child was his. "Onlyfans leaks would be fire": Joy Taylor gets axed by Fox Sports and fans already know her future career move
Fox Sports cuts ties with Joy Taylor (Instagram) In a stunning development that's shaking up FS1's on-air lineup, Joy Taylor has officially parted ways with Fox Sports. The move comes as the network embarks on a widespread reshuffle, axing multiple shows—including Speak, which Taylor co-hosted. Her exit also closely follows a months-long legal controversy involving allegations made against a former Fox Sports executive and Taylor's name surfacing in the lawsuit. While Taylor's departure was reportedly tied to the expiration of her contract, the timing has raised eyebrows across the industry. A sudden exit amid legal turmoil and programming shakeup Taylor had been a key presence on Speak since 2022, sharing the desk with former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson and ex-NBA player Paul Pierce. But the show, along with Breakfast Ball and The Facility, is now being scrapped as part of Fox Sports' latest cost-cutting and content realignment strategy. The Athletic first broke the news, revealing Taylor's contract would not be renewed. The exit comes just months after serious allegations from a former Fox Sports hairstylist, Noushin Faraji, rocked the network. Faraji accused then-Fox Sports executive Charlie Dixon of groping her during a party held for Taylor in 2017. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: One simple trick to get internet without a subscription Techno Mag Learn More Undo In a troubling twist, Faraji also claimed Taylor dismissed her accusation and was allegedly involved in an extramarital affair with Dixon—an affair Faraji claimed contributed to Taylor's rise to her former Undisputed moderator role. Additionally, Taylor was accused of mocking Faraji's accent and her PTSD-related behaviors. Taylor firmly rejected the claims, with a spokeswoman stating, 'The claims set forth against Ms. Taylor are devoid of merit and appear to have been strategically framed to create unwarranted publicity rather than to seek legitimate redress.' Despite the public stir, Taylor kept her composure, opting for measured statements. 'I know that the public has a lot of interest in this situation,' she told The Cut. 'But I have to let the legal process play out. ' After a brief two-week absence from air earlier this year, Taylor returned, fueling speculation about internal deliberations over her contract. A report from Front Office Sports had earlier mentioned her deal was due to expire this summer, which now appears to have marked her quiet exit. Fans think her next career is already known The Internet is going crazy after her exit. Users have come up with different thoughts but a major portion of them already let others know what they think of about her future career. One user @coldcallsniper commented, "Incoming OF." A second one having username @Jerryjo58719446 added, "Joy taylor onlyfans leaks would be fire." Another named @0usports echoed the same by saying, "She can take her career to onlyfans now." Joy Taylor becomes the center of internet discussion (Image via X) In recent months, Taylor had become more outspoken beyond sports commentary. On her Two Personal Show, she made headlines by suggesting the legalization of sex work as a remedy for male loneliness. On The Truth After Dark podcast, she remarked that religious men were a dating red flag for her—despite identifying as a 'person of faith' herself. These bold views have both intrigued and polarized her fan base, marking a noticeable shift in her public persona. As Fox Sports closes a chapter, the media landscape is now watching to see where Joy Taylor lands next—and whether the controversies surrounding her will fade or follow her forward.
