Green Impact amongst the favourites for the Glencairn Stakes at Leopardstown
While it hasn't been the luckiest of seasons thus far for trainer Jessica Harrington, there have been positive signs in recent weeks, and considering the team was under a cloud when this fellow finished sixth in the Newmarket 2000 Guineas, significant improvement can be expected this time.
A Group 2 winner in his short juvenile season, he beat leading Epsom Derby fancy Delacroix that day and there is no reason to believe we've already seen the best of him.
In Newmarket, on his return, the pace didn't seem to be strong enough for him, and he found himself towards the head of the field a couple of furlongs from home. He wasn't able to sustain his effort, but he kept going well enough to hold on to sixth place behind Ruling Court.
The step up to nine furlongs should be no problem to him, and the recent rain, which has just taken away any potential fast ground scenario, is a positive for him. Sure, it would be better if the Harrington team was saddling winner after winner, but that day is bound to return and he can give the yard a welcome boost.
Currawood is a consistent sort at this sort of level and should go well, while the Ger Lyons-trained Bravais defied market weakness when winning on his stable debut and any further improvement would put him firmly in the frame here.
Pierre Royal can carry top weight to victory in the BoyleSports Home Of The Early Payout Handicap. Dermot Weld's Kingman colt was no match for the experienced First Wave on his debut but made no mistake on his second start, when leading all the way and winning by a wide margin.
Those efforts earned him an opening mark of 88 and that looks manageable for the three-year-old. Out of Rose De Pierre, who won a Curragh Maiden on debut and followed up in a handicap off a mark of 91, he too can climb to a rating in three figures, and this race can help him on his way there.
The Listed King George V Cup is a tricky looking contest, but there may be some value in siding with the Fozzy Stack-trained Bay Colony, despite the filly having a nice bit to find on official figures.
Last time out, on her first try at today's trip, she shed her maiden status, and there is a strong chance that the form is considerably better than it looked at the time. Better ground won't be a problem and she is just preferred to Arouet and Acapulco Bay.

Scandinavia sees off Illinois for Ballydoyle one-two in Goodwood Cup
Scandinavia got the better of stablemate Illinois in a thrilling finish to the Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup Stakes, in a race overshadowed by a fatal injury to the veteran Trueshan. The Aidan O'Brien-trained stable companions dominated the betting, so while Scandinavia was discarded by Ryan Moore, Wayne Lordan's mount was still only a 4-1 shot following his victory in the Bahrain Trophy at Newmarket. Illinois attempted to make all but Scandinavia drew upsides over a furlong out and the two had it between them, with the concession of 14lb ultimately proving too much for Moore's mount, who went down by three-quarters of a length. French Master stayed on for a never-nearer third. O'Brien immediately signalled the St Leger at Doncaster as the big aim for his winner. "Wayne gave him a lovely ride — in the race at Ascot (Queen's Vase) he was trapped six wide all the way and then at Newmarket Ryan said he felt like a very good horse," he said. "Illinois went out there in front and looked to have the race won, but then the other horse got him. "We went to the Gold Cup (with Illinois) without a preparation and I know we haven't seen the best of him. "Scandinavia is a typical Justify, he just won't lie down, he puts his head down and won't be beaten. "Lambourn didn't go to the King George as we had one eye on York for him. It's all out in the open and this horse is ready made for the Leger, which is where he will go." Alan King's hugely popular Trueshan, winner of the race in 2021, was pulled up sharply by Hollie Doyle at halfway, with news sadly emerging his injury had proved to be a fatal one.

Tragedy as legendary horse Trueshan dies at Goodwood after suffering serious injury
RACING has been plunged into mourning after the tragic death of legendary horse Trueshan. The iconic stayer was vying for the lead in the £500,000 Goodwood Cup when he injured his leg under jockey Hollie Doyle. 1 Trueshan, a millionaire horse and multiple Group 1 winner loved by punters and jockey Hollie Doyle, suffered a serious injury in the Goodwood Cup Credit: Alamy ITV Racing host Ed Chamberlin: "I just feel so sad about Trueshan." He later confirmed live on-air the horse had to be put down. Doyle tried to pull up the Alan King-trained nine-year-old as quickly as she could when she realised something had gone wrong. Trueshan, who has won more than £2million during the course of his career, was sent off 22-1 for the day one feature. He was typically keen and lit up in the early stages but Doyle, who won the Lennox earlier on the card aboard 25-1 Witness Stand, looked to be winning the battle to restrain him. But it was as he challenged leader Illinois that Trueshan, who has finished first, third and fourth in three Goodwood Cup runs, appeared to hurt his leg. An ambulance was called onto the track but the news everybody feared was sadly confirmed shortly after. This was the second race in succession the ambulance had been called into action. Most read in Horse Racing Kinross, who was vying for favouritism at the head of the betting for the Lennox, was kicked by Audience just moments before the off. He appeared to be bleeding and was quickly pulled from the race. Trueshan had won 16 of his 34 career races - although his most recent was a Listed contest at Sandown over a year ago. More to follow. Emit to soar highest in O'Brien family battle at Gowran Park
Today's Gowran Park card will be the last chance for punters to pick winners on Irish shores before all attention turns to the west and the Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Marble City Stakes (2.50) heads a competitive Flat card with plenty of betting opportunities. Restricted to three-year-olds only, Aidan O'Brien won the showpiece event 12 months ago and the Ballydoyle maestro will hold plenty of hopes again via Acapulco Bay. The Dubawi colt has scored just once in six starts, though, while Ronan Whelan's mount is 3lbs off his nearest rival on official ratings, with Emit expected to give him more than enough to think about as many of the 11 runners step up to 1m4f for the first time in their careers. The latter, trained by Joseph O'Brien, never landed a blow in a Group Three at Royal Ascot but Dylan Browne McMonagle's mount had been knocking on the door prior to that and he can get the job done.
