Woman 'filmed herself having sex with monks and blackmailed them for £9,000,000'
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video A Buddhist sex scandal has erupted in Thailand after a woman filmed herself sleeping with monks before blackmailing them for cash. Wilawan Emsawat, 35, was arrested for allegedly seducing and then extorting senior Buddhist clergy of up to £9 million. At least nine monks have been disrobed for breaking their vows of celibacy after sex videos between Wilawan and the religious men were uncovered. The scandal unfolded after the head of a famous Buddhist temple in Bangkok suddenly renounced his monkhood and disappeared. It soon transpired that the religious leader, Phra Thep Wachirapamok, 53, had allegedly been sleeping with Wilawan. She had told the monk she was pregnant and threatened to reveal their relationship if he did not pay her 7.2m baht (£165,000) in child support. When he refused to cough up, she allegedly exposed their liaison to fellow monks, and he fled. Investigators discovered five phones containing tens of thousands of videos and photos of her having sex with Phra Thep Wachirapamok and other monks. Some were even wearing their religious robes while in the act, the police's Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) said. Officers also found chats which pointed to sexual acts with religious men, which they said could be used for blackmail. The alleged seductress was arrested in Bangkok on Tuesday on suspicion of crimes including extortion, money laundering and receiving stolen goods. It was revealed that about 385 million baht (£9 million) had been deposited into her bank account in the last three years, police added. 'We checked her financial trail and found that it involves many temples,' the Thai police's Jaroonkiat Pankaew said on Tuesday. He added: 'This woman is dangerous and we needed to arrest her as soon as possible' Investigators believe the scandal could be about far more than sex and may involve corruption on a large scale. At least nine abbots, who are heads of monasteries, and senior monks had been implicated in the scandal and thrown out of the monkhood. A number have already confessed to long-standing affairs with her, one even admitting that Wilawan gave him a car during their fling. The country's Central Investigation Bureau have even set up a Facebook page for people to report on monks breaking the rules. Thai monks mostly belong to the Theravada sect, which requires them to be celibate and refrain from touching a woman. Phra Thep Wachirapamok has not yet been tracked down after his disappearance. Although Wilawan has not commented since her arrest, she spoke to local media before Tuesday and acknowledged one relationship and said she had given him money. More Trending The scandal has prompted huge acrimony in the predominantly Buddhist country. Thailand's acting PM Phumtham Wechayachai has ordered for laws to be amended to improve the transparency of temple finances. Respected columnist Ekachai wrote: 'Monks must ask themselves: Why did they enter monkhood? For spiritual training, or to climb the social ladder and gain wealth and power through the saffron robe? 'This is structural rot rooted in a clergy strong on authoritarian control but weak on monastic discipline. It's the bitter fruit of a system that has drifted far from the Buddha's path.' Mum's horror after being ‘punched in neck' by Alton Towers ‘queue jumper' who ‘grabbed son & smashed him against fence'
THEME PARK 'ATTACK' Mum's horror after being 'punched in neck' by Alton Towers 'queue jumper' who 'grabbed son & smashed him against fence' Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A MUM was left horrified after she was allegedly "punched in the neck" and her son was "smashed into a fence" by queue jumpers. Emma Rosall, 44, claims she was assaulted as they waited for the Nemesis Reborn ride at Alton Towers on July 2. However the family was left shaken by their experience. The altercation kicked off after staff made tannoy announcements warning queue jumpers they were being watched and wouldn't be allowed on rides. Emma said she saw a man behind her with a bottle of water trying to get past, claiming it was for a medical emergency. She didn't buy it, and refused to move aside, causing the man to become allegedly aggressive. Emma was left stunned when he suddenly lashed out, striking her and then grabbing her son. 'Next thing I knew, he punched me in the back of the neck,' Emma said. 'Then he tried to barge me, grabbed my son and smashed him into the fence.' Emma says no security arrived despite, what she says, were threats and intimidating behaviour. She said another man from the same group appeared shortly after, and the two of them remained in the queue beside her family for a frightening 40 minutes after the ordeal. I was the first to ride Alton Towers' newest ride Toxicator - it was a topsy-turvy spinning explosion Emma added: 'I could hear him on the phone to his mates, he described what I was wearing to them." They were reportedly making threatening comments about what they'd do once the mum got off the ride. Staff were informed, but the disbelieved mum says she was simply asked to wait for security to show up. After deciding to leave the line, she filed a report with customer services and was given a reference number. She says no one offered immediate help, and the experience left her son visibly distressed. To add insult to injury, she said Alton Towers later offered her discounted tickets for another visit as a "gesture of goodwill." The off-duty cop slammed the £25 discount offer, turning it down, and said she wouldn't feel safe returning anyway. 'We weren't met with a pleasant experience - just a long drive home in the heat,' she said. 'My son was petrified.' She added that after the money and effort it took to get there, she felt completely let down. Emma believes Alton Towers failed to respond quickly enough and didn't protect guests from aggressive visitors. She says the incident has put her off going back entirely, especially knowing the man walked off without consequence. Emma said she expected better crowd control and support from such a high-profile venue. Staffordshire Police have confirmed they were notified about the July 2 incident and are now looking into it. A police spokesperson said: 'At around 2pm on Wednesday 2 July, a woman and teenage boy were assaulted and then threatened by two men. "They were all in a queue for the Nemesis ride. "The woman was hit in the back, whilst the boy was pushed against a metal fence." The Sun has reached out to Alton Towers for a comment.

RED CARD Premier League clubs with the most football fans arrested at games revealed – does YOUR team top the list? Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) MANCHESTER United topped the fan misbehaviour table last season - as banning orders across the country reached a decade high. The latest Home Office statistics found that there were 1,803 football-related arrests involving supporters of clubs in the top 6 tiers in English football in 2024-25. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 Manchester United topped the fan misbehaviour table last season That represented a 12 per cent decrease compared with the 2,043 arrested in the previous campaign. But the 121 United fans arrested was the highest tally of any club, followed by the 94 Manchester City supporters and 77 from West Ham, whose supporters have racked up 112 banning orders - the most from any club. And the 685 new banning orders - requiring those on the list to report to police at match times and ranging from three to 10 years - handed out by magistrates in the course of the year took the total in operation to 2,439, the highest number since 2013. According to the figures, compiled from police reports, nearly a third of the arrests were for public disorder, a fifth for violent disorder and 19 per cent for possession of Class A drugs. But arrests for alcohol offences fell to just eight per cent of the total, while the warnings over pitch invasions saw a new low of just three per cent. In total, incidents were reported relating to 1,583 club and international matches in England and Wales during the season, representing half of the total number played and up from 1,341 games in 2023-24, although three quarters of them were viewed as 'low severity'. The most common incident type reported was hate crime - at 420 matches - followed by 363 games where missiles were alleged to have been thrown and 319 where fans displayed pyrotechnics. They included 287 claims of racial-related abuse and 140 of homophobia. But online hate crimes fell, with 212 recorded offences compared to 322 in the previous season. Policing Minister Dame Diana Johnson said: 'Police up and down the country work incredibly hard to ensure football stadiums are safe, so we can all enjoy our national game. 'The statistics show that these efforts are paying off and strong action is being taken to stop violence and disorder from ruining football. 'We are continuing to make football safer for the millions of dedicated fans, funding the UK Football Policing Unit and expanding drug testing on arrest at football matches for certain offences.'
