Francisco Lindor Makes Honest Statement After Mets' Loss to Braves
The New York Mets looked like they might turn a corner after Saturday's 11-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies, but the opposite happened. The club crashed back down to earth with a 7-1 loss to the Phillies on Sunday, a 3-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Monday, and a 7-4 defeat to the Braves on Tuesday.

Shortstop Francisco Lindor pulled his weight over that stretch, except for Tuesday. The 31-year-old went 0-for-5 in that game, but went 6-for-13 with two homers, four RBI, and two runs scored in the preceding three contests.

"They have outplayed us [this season]," the former Cleveland Guardian admitted. "They have played better defense, they ran the bases better, they hit better. Overall, they have done everything better than us."
Atlanta leads the season series over New York 5-0.
The Mets are now 1.5 games behind the Phillies atop the NL East, but they're still eight ahead of the Braves for second place. They're also 1.5 games ahead of the San Francisco Giants for the top NL Wild Card spot.

Right-handed pitcher Clay Holmes (7-4, 3.04 ERA) will start for New York against Atlanta right-hander Didier Fuentes (0-1, 7.20 ERA) on Wednesday night at Citi Field. The Mets will try to avoid their fourth consecutive loss and series loss.
New York will close this series out against Atlanta on Thursday before hitting the road to face the Pittsburgh Pirates. After that, it will return home to play the Milwaukee Brewers and New York Yankees.

MLB Speedway Classic was a Fyre Fest-like fail even before the rain
The Major League Baseball Speedway Classic came to an anti-climatic end Saturday evening after heavy rain turned the field into mush and forced the Cincinnati Reds versus Atlanta Braves game to be suspended after one inning. But according to different fan accounts on social media, the event was a giant mess even without the rain. From bun-less hot dogs to cheese-less nachos, Bristol Speedway was more akin to the Jones residence from the classic 1995 movie Friday than it was to a ballgame. "Y'all ain't never got two things that match!" One apparent attendee provided photos of the awful concession food on X, saying the game was "the MLB version of Fyre fest." Yikes. Seriously?? Who thought that was a good idea? And to make it worse, the speedway charged full price for the part-time food, according to the same fan. Other attendees also shared their bad experiences on social media, which ranged from the food completely running out to problems with parking. But hey, at least they get to try it again when the game resumes Sunday afternoon.
