Mr Gascoigne has since been moved to an acute medical unit where his condition is described as stable.

He is expected to remain there for several days, with friend Steve Foster telling the newspaper it was "the best place for him".
Mr Gascoigne broke through at hometown club Newcastle United and was widely viewed as the most naturally gifted English footballer of his generation.
He went on to play for Tottenham Hotspur and Italian side Lazio before moving to Rangers in 1995.
The midfielder known as 'Gazza' joined for a club record £4.5million and was named both PFA Scotland Players' Player of the Year and SFWA Footballer of the Year in his first season.
He left in March 1998 to join Middlesbrough before brief spells at Everton, Burnley, Gansu Tianma and Boston United.
Both during and after his playing career, Mr Gascoigne has dealt with addiction issues.
He has entered rehabilitation for alcoholism on at least seven occasions, and also been arrested for drink-driving, possession of cocaine and assault.

Step forward Lottie Woad, who capped a fairytale July by winning the ISPS HANDA Women's Scottish Open by three shots at Dundonald Links in Ayrshire. The 21-year-old from Hampshire won the KPMG Women's Irish Open at Carton House as an amateur at the start of the month before finishing second in The Evian Championship, the penultimate women's major of the season, in France. At no point over the course of the four days in the $2 million event did she ever look as though she was flustered, even if her reddened face might sometimes give that impression. The truth of the matter is that Woad is a bit shy and probably feels a bit uncomfortable being the centre of attention, but, on the evidence of the past few weeks, she is going to have to get used to it. In short, she's a superstar in the making. 'Very special to win in my first event,' she said of this success. 'You know, everyone was chasing me today, and I managed to maintain the lead and played really nicely down the stretch and hit a lot of good shots, which is nice.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Two ahead at the start of the day in the LET and LPGA co-sanctioned event, Woad was joined at the top of the leaderboard by Korean Hyo Joo Kim early on the back nine and the pair were still locked together as Woad played the 14th and Kim tackled the 15th. Almost at the same time, Woad rolled in a five-footer for a birdie at her hole while Kim missed from the same distance for a par in the match in front. Event over. Signing for a closing 68, Woad finished with a 21-under-par total, which had also been her winning aggregate in Ireland. Due to her amateur status, she didn't pick up the winner's cheque on that occasion, but this title triumph led to $300,000 being deposited in her bank account. 'But, yeah, I mean, a lot of people have obviously talked about me not winning any money. And then I knew if I kept playing how I was, then it would all work out.' She described her exploits in July as 'pretty good' and, on this evidence, August could be tasty, too. It starts with an appearance in the AIG Women's Open at Royal Porthcawl and, 12 months after finishing as the leading amateur at St Andrews, it seems as though she'll be a contender for the top prize this time around. 'Yeah. Just looking to continue the momentum, really,' she said of her next assignment, which starts on Thursday. Woad, who underlined her potential when winning the Augusta National Women's Amateur in 2023, is just the third player to win in their first start on the LPGA Tour as a member, joining Jin Young Ko (2018 ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open) and Beverly Hanson (1951 Eastern Open). She also became the ninth player to win in their first professional start in an official LPGA Tour event since 1980 and the first since American Rose Zhang achieved the feat in the 2023 Mizuho Americas Open as a non-LPGA member. 'So I felt pretty confident coming down there. It was always nice to finish with a birdie. So just had like a two-footer, which is a nice length, so, yeah, happy.' Rightly so and, in addition to her mum and dad, Rachel and Nick, there to see it were her granny Marian and auntie Sarah. 'They are not Scottish,' she reported. 'They live in Edinburgh. So I'm up here quite a bit.' Her aunty moved to Scotland after marrying a Scot, but Woad was unsure why her granny is up here. 'Maybe Sarah, my aunt, is the favourite child and she wanted to be near her,' she joked. Though five players started out on Sunday still in with a chance, it had turned into a two-horse race at the turn and, though Kim gave it a great go and deserved to end up as the bridesmaid, there was no denying that Woad never looked under any pressure and, moreover, never wobbled at any point. The ex-neo natal nurse is said to be chaperoned by prison guards wherever she goes, and special areas have to be cleared whenever she wants to visit - due to the high risk of her being attacked by fellow lags. The Sun reported last week how the evil pair play card game Uno for hours in their cushy jail unit after being given 'enhanced' privileges at HMP Bronzefield, Surrey. They also have "a lot of freedom" and can buy foods that others can't - often in the kitchen making cheese toasties together. Letby allegedly moans she's the "fattest I've ever been" due to her diet of junk food, including chocolate. Sources have since told The Mirror other female murderers in Houseblock Four are fed up with Letby and Batool - who is serving 33 years - getting special treatment. They say the government's Incentives and Earned Privileges Scheme, which is designed to encourage good behaviour among prisoners, is being used by Letby who manipulates prison officers to get what she wants. The source said: "She turns on the tears at the drop of a hat, she gets all her visits in the family room which is really lovely even though she doesn't have children, it's meant to be for children and they've made it really nice. Her parents come to see her," our source said. "She walks around like she's Queen Bee, she stops other enhanced prisoners going to the library because she says 'I'm scared, I'm scared, I don't know what they'll do to me' but what about other people who are enhanced and want to use that library, they can't. "When she and Beinash go to the salon, the whole salon has to be shut down, because they are scared that other prisoners will attack them and obviously there are scissors and stuff there." The source said the pair go to the salon "at least once a month" and Letby is "always getting" her hair and nails done, adding the wing is "like an upside down world". This means they get extra perks like visiting the prison staff restaurant, called Vita Nova, which has two qualified chefs, and inmates can be trained barista and knife skills, it's claimed. And when Letby attends the likes of the salon or Vita Nova, it is closed to others to protect her, but she chooses to take Batool as her plus one guest, according to reports. One prisoner told The Mirror, there is "so much hatred for her" because she's "treated like she's Queen Bee". As reported by The Sun previously, the killer nurse works three different prison jobs and blows her wages on sweets and crisps. Letby has jobs as a laundry worker, earning £8 a week, a kitchen worker - another £8 a week - and a library worker. Lag sources say she's put on so much weight "you wouldn't recognise her". Unit 4 of 527-inmate Bronzefield, which is run by private firm Sodexo. Letby and Batool both have TVs with Freeview channels and a DVD player, along with books and films, which they can order from the library. Others on the unit include Sian Hedges, jailed for life in 2024 for killing 18-month-old son Alfie Phillips. Shamed prison officer Linda de Sousa Abreu, who romped with a lag, was also held there until her release last month. Letby — convicted of the murders of seven babies and attempted murders of seven more while a neonatal nurse — has regular legal meetings as she plans her appeal. Batool was sentenced last December for the murder of her tortured stepdaughter.
