Indian women to play Uzbekistan in two International Friendlies
The two matches against Uzbekistan will be played on May 30 and June 3, at the Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence, in Bengaluru.
The Blue Tigresses, coached by Crispin Chettri, are on the preparation path for the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers, having begun their camp in Bengaluru on May 1. India have been drawn in Group B, where they are set to face Mongolia (June 23), Timor-Leste (June 29), Iraq (July 2), and hosts Thailand (July 5), in Chiang Mai.
India, who are at 69th in the FIFA Women's Rankings, have played Uzbekistan, ranked 50th, on 13 occasions. The White Wolves have come out victorious on 9 occasions, while the Blue Tigresses have won one match; three matches between the two sides have ended in draws.

Last Updated: The AIFF's technical committee, led by IM Vijayan, will meet to appoint a new head coach for the senior men's team after Manolo Marquez's exit. The All India Football Federation's (AIFF) technical committee, led by former India captain IM Vijayan, will meet on Wednesday to begin the process of appointing a new head coach for the senior men's national team. The post became vacant earlier this month after the AIFF and Spaniard Manolo Marquez parted ways by mutual consent following a string of poor performances. Selection Process Underway Following the coaching vacancy, the AIFF invited applications with a deadline of July 13. The federation has since received an overwhelming 170 applications from around the globe. According to a source close to the proceedings, the technical committee will evaluate all applications and create a shortlist to be forwarded to the AIFF Executive Committee (EC), which will make the final decision. With a FIFA international window in September and crucial AFC Asian Cup qualifiers against Singapore set for October 9 and 14, the AIFF is under pressure to expedite the appointment. The Executive Committee also has the authority to request additional names or further clarification before making a decision. Several high-profile names have expressed interest in the job. Former Liverpool stars Robbie Fowler—who previously coached East Bengal—and Harry Kewell are among the applicants, as is Peter Segrt, who has managed Tajikistan, Maldives, and Afghanistan. Why Chelsea players waited for Donald Trump to leave the podium during Club World Cup
Marc Cucurella, Chelsea's combative left-back, revealed that they could not lift the Club World Cup trophy until US president Donald Trump had left the arena. He told a Spanish outlet: 'We had been told that, as a rule, Donald Trump would come to present us with the trophy and that we couldn't lift it until he left.' But to their shock, the American premier lingered long, putting on hold their celebrations. 'we were all there waiting for him to leave, but the guy didn't want to leave, and on top of that, we looked at him and he said, 'Get him up, I'll stay here, and so on.' And I wondered who would say anything to him, you know… I was scared s***less!' he detailed. One of his teammates, Cole Palmer, the hero of the final, wherein they thrashed PSG, apparently asked his teammates. 'What's he (Trump) doing?' ''I knew he was going to be here but I didn't know he was going to be on the stand when we lifted the trophy so I was a bit confused, yeah,' Palmer later said. Nonetheless, Chelsea's players lifted the trophy alongside a beaming Trump. The trophy, though, was a replica, as the original is in Trump's Oval Office. 'I said, when are you going to pick up the trophy? [They said] 'We're never going to pick it up. You can have it forever in the Oval Office. We're making a new one',' Trump said in an interview with official Club World Cup broadcaster Dazn. 'And they actually made a new one. So that was quite exciting, but it is in the Oval [Office] right now,' he added. The American president praised the tournament. 'It's about unity. It's about everybody getting together and a lot of love between countries. I guess this is probably the most international sport, so it can really bring the world together.' However, the afternoon began with a section of the crowd booing when his face appeared on video boards during the playing of the national anthem before the match. The boos rang again when he walked out with Fifa president Gianni Infantino to present the competition's trophy, individual awards and runners-up medals.
