Good news for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli fans, Indian cricket legends will be in England if…
Team India are scheduled to face England in an ODI series in England in 2026. (Photo: ANI) Cricket fans all over the world are missing the Indian legendary duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli on their tour of England. Team India have playing a five-match Test series against England currently without both Kohli and Rohit in their line-up. However, there might be some good news in store for the Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli fans. Both the Indian cricket legends had announced their retirement from Test cricket in the month of May this year. They have already retired from T20I cricket last year but are still very much available for the ODI format of the game. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced on Thursday that Team India will once again tour England next year – in 2026 – and this time it will be for a T20I and ODI series. India are set to play a five-match T20I series and a three-match ODI series against England next year. If Rohit and Kohli are still available to play in ODI cricket till 2026 – which they should be considering the fact that they might be aiming to play in the 2027 ODI World Cup – the legendary duo will once be seen in England then, to the relief of Indian and English fans. Apart from matches against India, England will be playing Test matches against New Zealand and Pakistan before rounding it off with six white-ball games against Sri Lanka. In addition to this, Lord's will be playing host to a women's Test for the first time in its history. 'I'm sure fans will be excited to watch Ben Stokes' and Harry Brook's England teams, the Men's red-ball and white-ball teams both offering so much in the way of entertainment. It's terrific to see so many different nations coming over to compete and we can expect another summer of big crowds and fantastic cricket,' ECB Chief Executive Officer Richard Gould said in a statement. Here is full schedule of India vs England limited-overs matches in 2026… 1st T20I – July 1 at Banks Homes Riverside, Durham 2nd T20I – July 4 at Old Trafford, Manchester 3rd T20I – July 7 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham 4th T20I – July 9 at Seat Unique Stadium, Bristol 5th T20I – July 11 at Utilita Bowl, Southampton 1st ODI – July 14 at Edgbaston, Birmingham 2nd ODI – July 16 at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff 3rd ODI – July 19 at Lord's, London When will Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli be in action next? Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli would have been in action next month if India's proposed three-match ODI series against Bangladesh had gone ahead as scheduled. However, that series has now been postponed to 2026. There are reports that Team India might take on Sri Lanka in an ODI series next month in place of the Bangladesh series. If the series against Lanka goes ahead, it will be the first time that Rohit and Kohli will be in action in international cricket after the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in February-March this year. The two former India captains are also expected to be part of the three-match ODI series in Australia which is scheduled to take place in October this year.

AIFF Technical Committee To Shortlist National Team Coach From 170 Applicants
Last Updated: The AIFF's technical committee, led by IM Vijayan, will meet to appoint a new head coach for the senior men's team after Manolo Marquez's exit. The All India Football Federation's (AIFF) technical committee, led by former India captain IM Vijayan, will meet on Wednesday to begin the process of appointing a new head coach for the senior men's national team. The post became vacant earlier this month after the AIFF and Spaniard Manolo Marquez parted ways by mutual consent following a string of poor performances. Selection Process Underway Following the coaching vacancy, the AIFF invited applications with a deadline of July 13. The federation has since received an overwhelming 170 applications from around the globe. According to a source close to the proceedings, the technical committee will evaluate all applications and create a shortlist to be forwarded to the AIFF Executive Committee (EC), which will make the final decision. With a FIFA international window in September and crucial AFC Asian Cup qualifiers against Singapore set for October 9 and 14, the AIFF is under pressure to expedite the appointment. The Executive Committee also has the authority to request additional names or further clarification before making a decision. Several high-profile names have expressed interest in the job. Former Liverpool stars Robbie Fowler—who previously coached East Bengal—and Harry Kewell are among the applicants, as is Peter Segrt, who has managed Tajikistan, Maldives, and Afghanistan. Stephen Constantine, who coached India in two separate stints (2002–2005 and 2015–2019), is also in the fray. Most recently in charge of Pakistan, the 62-year-old has also coached East Bengal and national teams like Nepal, Malawi, and Rwanda. Among Indian contenders are Khalid Jamil, Santosh Kashyap, and Sanjoy Sen—the latter fresh off leading Bengal to a Santosh Trophy win and having won the I-League with Mohun Bagan in 2014–15. Other Notable Applicants Foreign coaches with ISL and I-League experience have also applied, including: Vacancy Opened After Marquez's Exit The AIFF officially opened applications on July 4, two days after accepting Manolo Marquez's resignation during its Executive Committee meeting on July 2. Though Marquez had expressed his desire to step down in April, he was requested to stay on until India's AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Hong Kong on June 10. India lost that match 1-0, concluding Marquez's one-year tenure with a disappointing record—no competitive wins in eight games and just one victory in a friendly. Under his leadership, India also fell to 133rd in the FIFA rankings. (with PTI inputs) First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Why Chelsea players waited for Donald Trump to leave the podium during Club World Cup
Marc Cucurella, Chelsea's combative left-back, revealed that they could not lift the Club World Cup trophy until US president Donald Trump had left the arena. He told a Spanish outlet: 'We had been told that, as a rule, Donald Trump would come to present us with the trophy and that we couldn't lift it until he left.' But to their shock, the American premier lingered long, putting on hold their celebrations. 'we were all there waiting for him to leave, but the guy didn't want to leave, and on top of that, we looked at him and he said, 'Get him up, I'll stay here, and so on.' And I wondered who would say anything to him, you know… I was scared s***less!' he detailed. One of his teammates, Cole Palmer, the hero of the final, wherein they thrashed PSG, apparently asked his teammates. 'What's he (Trump) doing?' ''I knew he was going to be here but I didn't know he was going to be on the stand when we lifted the trophy so I was a bit confused, yeah,' Palmer later said. Nonetheless, Chelsea's players lifted the trophy alongside a beaming Trump. The trophy, though, was a replica, as the original is in Trump's Oval Office. 'I said, when are you going to pick up the trophy? [They said] 'We're never going to pick it up. You can have it forever in the Oval Office. We're making a new one',' Trump said in an interview with official Club World Cup broadcaster Dazn. 'And they actually made a new one. So that was quite exciting, but it is in the Oval [Office] right now,' he added. The American president praised the tournament. 'It's about unity. It's about everybody getting together and a lot of love between countries. I guess this is probably the most international sport, so it can really bring the world together.' However, the afternoon began with a section of the crowd booing when his face appeared on video boards during the playing of the national anthem before the match. The boos rang again when he walked out with Fifa president Gianni Infantino to present the competition's trophy, individual awards and runners-up medals.
