Veteran actress Eileen Fulton, known for her role as Lisa Grimaldi on "As the World Turns," passed away on July 14, 2025, at 91.
Veteran actress Eileen Fulton, a beloved figure in daytime television and a fixture on the long-running soap As the World Turns, passed away on July 14, 2025, at the age of 91. Her death followed 'a period of declining health," according to her obituary.
Fulton became a household name with her portrayal of Lisa Grimaldi, a character she first introduced to audiences in 1960 under the name Lisa Miller. Over the course of 50 years, she portrayed Lisa in one of the longest and most dynamic character arcs in American soap opera history. Known for her scheming ways and tumultuous relationships including eight marriages. Lisa Grimaldi became an iconic soap character and a cornerstone of the series.
Fulton's early career was grounded in the arts. Born on September 13, 1933, in Asheville, North Carolina, she earned a degree in music from Greensboro College. She began her performance journey with the outdoor theater group The Lost Colony before moving to New York to study acting under Sanford Meisner and Lee Strasberg at the Neighborhood Playhouse. She also took dance classes with modern dance pioneer Martha Graham.
Her big break came with As the World Turns, where her evolving portrayal of Lisa won critical acclaim. 'Well, when I first started, I was a real live scheming conniving person. Not I was, I mean my character Lisa was. It was a wonderful character part," Fulton said in a 1995 interview. She later added, 'I've had great fun being dippy… I have loved every minute of it."
Beyond television, Fulton also found success on stage with roles in the Broadway production of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and the off-Broadway favorite The Fantasticks.
Fulton was inducted into the Soap Opera Hall of Fame in 1998 and received a Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004.
After retiring, she returned to North Carolina in 2019 and resided in Black Mountain. She is survived by her brother Charles Furman McLarty, niece Katherine Morris, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother James Fulton McLarty.
May her soul rest in peace!

Shilpa Shirodkar Says She's 10th Fail, Quit Films For ‘Double MBA' Husband

Last Updated: Shilpa revealed that her decision to leave Mumbai came easily after meeting her husband. Actor Shilpa Shirodkar, who starred in hits like Hum, Aankhen, and Khuda Gawah, has opened up about walking away from a flourishing Bollywood career to live a quiet life abroad. In a recent interview, Shilpa Shirodkar shared how marrying Aparesh Ranjit — a banker and double MBA — changed the course of her life. She moved to New Zealand after marriage and has never regretted the decision. 'I don't regret taking a break. I miss being busy, but I married such a sweet, nice and simple man and that was important for me to start my life," she told Pinkvilla. 'Unfortunately, I left India and which is why it was difficult for me to continue working." Shilpa revealed that her decision to leave Mumbai came easily after meeting her husband. 'I never wanted to leave Mumbai as I was very close to my parents, but then I met my husband and within one and a half day, I said yes to him," she said. 'He was going to go abroad to study… I just liked his honesty so much that I didn't even think what am I doing." The actor also touched upon the stark difference in their educational backgrounds. 'I am a 10th fail. My husband is a banker. He is a double MBA and very well-read. I never felt small in front of him," she stated. 'I can talk to him and his colleagues about everything." On whether she received film offers after marriage, Shilpa said, 'It wasn't the space when women would get roles after marriage… I wasn't such a big star. People were happy ki gayi toh gayi." She added that moving abroad without friends, living on a budget, and building a new life helped shape her. Shilpa returned to Indian TV years later but remains content with the choices she made. view comments First Published: July 22, 2025, 04:30 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. 'Cosby Show' Star Malcolm-Jamal Warner Dies By Drowning At 54

American actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who played Bill Cosby's son Theo on the 1980s groundbreaking television hit "The Cosby Show," died at age 54 on Monday by drowning, a law enforcement source confirmed to Reuters. Warner was vacationing in Costa Rica with his family, media reported. The Central American nation's judicial investigation department (OIJ) confirmed that a U.S. citizen with the last name Warner had drowned after being pulled out to sea by a rip current. He was declared lifeless at the scene by Red Cross lifeguards, the department said. Representatives for Warner did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The NAACP posted a photo of the late actor on Instagram along with a caption. "#RestinPower, to NAACP Image Award winning actor, Malcolm-Jamal Warner. Your talent and spirit touched many lives, and your legacy will continue to inspire," the caption said. Warner won the outstanding actor in a comedy series award from the NAACP for the series "Reed Between the Lines" in 2012. Fox Entertainment also issued a statement on Monday about Warner's passing. "Everyone at FOX is heartbroken by the tragic loss of our friend and colleague, the extraordinary Malcolm-Jamal Warner. While his iconic roles – from comedic to dramatic – are unforgettable and timeless," the statement said. Warner played Dr. AJ Austin on the Fox medical drama series "The Resident." "The Cosby Show," which aired from 1984 to 1992, was one of the earliest portrayals of a successful, stable and wholesome Black American family on television, which challenged negative stereotypes. Cosby portrayed a doctor, and Warner played his only son. Warner, who was born on August 18, 1970, grew up in Jersey City, New Jersey, with his mother, Pamela, who eventually became his acting manager. He was named after civil rights leader Malcolm X and jazz musician Ahmad Jamal. At an early age, Warner found he was interested in acting, which launched his career as a child performer and set him on the path to attend The Professional Children's School in New York. While he had some small television roles early in his career, playing Theo Huxtable on "The Cosby Show" served as Warner's breakout role. The actor received an Emmy nomination in 1986 for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series for his role on the NBC series. Warner won a Grammy award in 2015 for best traditional R&B performance for the song "Jesus Children." The 54-year-old actor also had roles in "The Cosby Show" spin-off series "A Different World," "Jeremiah," "Sons of Anarchy," "Suits" and hosted "Saturday Night Live" in 1986. He has a wife and daughter but never publicly disclosed their names.
