Eccles: Bus roof torn off after vehicle hits bridge

A bus has had its roof torn off after striking a bridge.The vehicle crashed at about 16:00 BST at the junction of Barton Road and Trafford Road in Eccles, Salford, Greater Manchester Police said. The North West Ambulance Service said it was attending the incident. There is not yet confirmation of any injuries. A large number of paramedics, including an air ambulance, are at the scene. Road closures are in place, with police advising people to avoid the area.

Three separate crashes involving four vehicles were behind the closure of a major Police shut the A11 in Norfolk in both directions from about 03:30 BST between Wymondham and Spooner Row on said they received reports of a crash at 02:13 at Wymondham, after a Honda Civic crashed into the central reservation barrier, with a grey BMW sports car hitting it soon afterwards. A third crash happened minutes later at the same location and involved a white Mercedes lorry and a red Mazda CX-5, police said. Police said the driver of the Honda was taken to hospital with minor injuries and has since been discharged. Four other people were treated for minor injuries at the scene and the road was re-opened about 11 hours later at about 14:30, police said. Engineers slice mountain in half to make way for world's tallest bridge

Engineers in China have sliced a mountain in half to construct the world's highest bridge. The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, located in Guizhou, will tower 2,050ft above the canyon floor. Aerial footage released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 1 August showed the construction progress. Upon its opening at the end of the year, the bridge will reduce an hour-long commute to just one minute for motorists. Watch the video in full above.
