Formula 1 Aramco Pre-Season Testing 2025 is right around the corner and Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) has put together a colourful off-track entertainment programme for fans attending the two open days of the event.
The tests are scheduled for 26 to 28 February at 'The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East', with the circuit opening its doors to the public on 27 and 28 February.
Testing at BIC will be the first time that all 10 F1 teams will be together on track in 2025 as they prepare for this year's fast-approaching FIA Formula 1 World Championship. Motor racing's biggest stars will then return to the Kingdom for the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2025 set for April 11 to 13.
Excitement ahead of F1 Aramco Pre-Season Testing continues to build especially following the F1 75 Live on Tuesday night – this season's historic launch event held at London's O2 Arena, organised for the first time ever by Formula 1 with all the series' drivers, key officials, and stakeholders in attendance.
F1's 2025 campaign marks the championship's 75th anniversary. The Bahrain Grand Prix's title partners Gulf Air are also celebrating 75 years in 2025.
Tickets to F1 Aramco Pre-Season Testing 2025 cost BD10 for adults and BD5 for kids, per day, for the two days open to fans.
BIC is also offering exclusive hospitality packages during testing, featuring the best views of the action along with incredible, five-star cuisine and beverage selection throughout the day.
The hospitality lounge is located right above the F1 pit lane, and fans will also get to do a pit lane walk. Available on both open days, the hospitality packages cost USD1,200 (including 10 per cent VAT) per person, per day.
Meanwhile, those who had purchased their tickets to the F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2025 on or before 7 December, 2024, will have free access to the tests, making for an incredible two F1 events with one single ticket.
BIC's gates are scheduled to open at 11am on both test days open to fans.
Unleash inner racer
Testing's off-track entertainment will be headlined by a simulators tent. This is where fans can buckle up and zoom through thrilling tracks at incredible speeds in a virtual setting. Participants will be able to go up against family and friends, drift around corners, and speed down straightaways as they unleash their inner racer.
In addition to this, teams of roaming entertainers will be in-teracting with fans around the BIC premises and creating a fes-tival-like atmosphere that will be a sneak preview of what's to come at the F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2025.
These acts include the Jesters, the Colour Drums, and the Cir-cle Arts Drummers.
The Jesters are a captivating stilt-walking group that brings joy and excitement with their bright costumes and larger-than-life presence. They com-bine artistry and acrobatics, creating whimsical characters that dance and engage with the crowd through playful anties and high-energy performances.
The Colour Drums combine music and fun for an awesome adventure filled with amazing sounds and eye-catching drums that will make anyone smile. They put on an amazing and cre-ative show as the drums come to life while making music that will have fans dancing.

Manual gearboxes are history, says Hyundai's performance chief

TDT | agencies The era of manual gearboxes is effectively over, according to Tyone Johnson, Managing Director of Hyundai's Europe Technical Centre in Germany. In a recent interview, Johnson praised the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N for delivering unmatched driving pleasure and claimed, 'Nobody wants manual gearboxes anymore.' He also noted that modern buyers have little interest in manual handbrakes or analogue dials. Johnson believes EVs like the Ioniq 5 N will eventually win over even reluctant enthusiasts, despite their attachment to petrol power. He argued the internal combustion engine's decline shouldn't be mourned, calling most combustion performance cars 'miles away – a disappointment' compared to the Ioniq 5 N. Acknowledging the emotional appeal of traditional cars, he said, 'I understand some people want the sounds, vibrations — those sensory inputs help the brain understand what's going on.' As a result, artificial sounds are now integrated into EVs to mimic the feedback of combustion engines. In his view, EVs have progressed more in a decade than combustion cars did in a century. With a background in Ford and Jaguar's F1 and rally programmes — including the 1992 Mustang Shelby — Johnson said: 'I'm a performance guy. If you want to go fast, there's nothing better than an EV. I don't understand the nostalgia.'

HRH Crown Prince hails McLaren's stunning 1-2 finish at dramatic British GP

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, was among those watching trackside as McLaren claimed a spectacular one-two finish at a rainsoaked and drama-filled British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Royal Backing for a Historic Win The Crown Prince, a long-time supporter of the team through Bahrain's investment in McLaren, congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and celebrated what HRH called an 'outstanding performance.' The Crown Prince also wished the team continued success as they push for the Formula 1 World Championship title this season. The win is another high point in a standout season for McLaren, who also took victory earlier this year at the Bahrain Grand Prix – a symbolic triumph at what the team calls its 'second home race.' That April win, led by Oscar Piastri and backed by a podium for Lando Norris, was McLaren's first ever victory at the Bahrain International Circuit. Silverstone Delivers Chaos and Glory And it was a performance worthy of royal applause. In changeable conditions that kept teams and drivers guessing, Lando Norris clinched his first British Grand Prix victory, with teammate Oscar Piastri following in second to give McLaren their first 1-2 at Silverstone in over a decade. 'This is as good as it gets,' Norris said after the race, visibly emotional as he described the victory as the realisation of a childhood dream. 'The fans carried me through the last few laps. It was chaotic, stressful – but amazing.' The race was anything but straightforward. Piastri took the early lead after passing Max Verstappen as the track began to dry, but with rain returning mid-race, strategy became everything. A well-timed double stack for intermediate tyres saw both McLaren drivers stay in contention, though a slower pit stop cost Norris track position temporarily. Piastri was later handed a 10-second penalty for a Safety Car infringement but managed to fight back to second after a strong stint on medium tyres. Meanwhile, Norris regained the lead and held on through changing conditions and multiple Safety Car periods. McLaren Team Principal Andrea Stella praised the entire squad: 'We leave our home race with a 1-2 – a fantastic result and a great reward for the team's effort. Lando drove brilliantly, and Oscar showed real resilience.' Bahrain's Growing Footprint in F1 For Prince Salman, the result was not only a proud moment as a supporter of McLaren but also a testament to the Kingdom's deepening ties with the world of Formula 1 — a sport in which Bahrain continues to play a pivotal role, both on and off the track.
