Disney fans horrified by new exhibit featuring animatronic Walt Disney: ‘I'm low-key scared'
Something's amiss at the House of Mouse. Ahead of Disneyland's 70th anniversary, slated for July 17, the Imagineering team offered fans a long-awaited sneak peek at the new Main Street exhibit — and fanatics are short-circuiting over the news. 3 The 2-minute segment is supposed to give fans an idea of what Disney's in-person presence was like, Josh D'Amaro, the company's experiences chairman, said when the exhibit was first announced. Disney The special exhibit titled 'Walt Disney – A Magical Life' celebrates the legacy and life of the franchise's famed founder with a 16-minute-long life-size show. Notably, two of those precious moments see the first-ever audio-animatronic figure of Walt himself in a recreated version of his original office. Though many fans appreciated the company's motive behind the exhibit, they didn't find the figure's appearance faithful, replying under the park's Instagram announcement, one fan called it 'a massive swing and a miss.' Back when the news was initially announced, Joanna Miller, Walt Disney's granddaughter, publicly criticized the franchise for recreating his likeness in the animatronic tribute. 'People are not replaceable. You could never get the casualness of his talking,' wrote Miller in her initial Facebook post. 'I think I started crying,' she told the Los Angeles Times after she saw robo-Disney for the first time. 'It didn't look like him, to me.' After the animatronic's appearance was finally revealed to the public on July 14, many fans seemed to share the sentiment and took to the comments of the franchise's Instagram announcement with their thoughts. 3 The exhibit in the lobby includes a variety of artifacts and heirlooms from the park's early days. Disney 'I was SOOO EXCITED for this and now I'm low-key scared,' read one reply. 'You really had a chance to do something here, and instead you insulted the reason you all have jobs,' ranted one scathing fan. 'Once again, this has been the Disney motto as of recent — how much money can we get out of it, and how quickly can we get it done to pump it out. Seems like no effort was put into this to make sure it looked like Walt. Just shameful and embarrassing.' Though a majority of comments expressed disappointment, others found the tribute moving. 'I'm genuinely not okay in the best way,' gushed one ride-or-die fan, while another said: '10 seconds in and hearing his voice already got me teary.' 3 'Can't wait to see this in person,' a user wrote. Christian Thompson/Disneyland Resort Aside from the fact that, in the opinion of Miller and many others, the animatronic didn't resemble the man himself, she also criticized the company's move because she says her grandfather didn't want to be remembered as a robot. Imagineer Jeff Shaver-Moskowitz rebuffed Miller in an April statement: 'In all our research, we never found any documentation of Walt saying that. We know that it's anecdotal and we can't speak to what was told to people in private.'

WEAPONS Director Teases Secret Cast and Wild Twists - 'I Probably Shouldn't Even Say That' — GeekTyrant
Zach Cregger knows how to pull the rug out from under audiences. After Barbarian blindsided viewers with its unpredictable structure and grotesque surprises, Cregger's next horror outing, Weapons , is shaping up to be ambitious, and even more secretive. In a recent interview with SFX Magazine, the director teased what's coming in his next film, saying: 'I've got to be so careful about spoilers, but here's what I will say. This movie has more twists and turns than Barbarian, but what it doesn't do, very intentionally, is I never abandon the audience.' The marketing for Weapons , from its ominous teaser to the unsettling posters, has been intentionally cryptic. The story revolves around a small town where all but one child from the same class mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly the same time, leaving the town rattled and reaching for answers. But if you think the mystery ends there, think again. According to Cregger, what we've seen so far barely scratches the surface. 'There's a couple of names that aren't in the cast announcement, and there's a couple of [actors] that I think people have not realised what a big deal their characters will be. 'That's great, and I probably shouldn't even say that, but there are some actors that... it's amazing what they do… There are seven main characters in this movie and the trailer, we're leaning into two of those. But there are truly seven main characters.' Well, that's interesting! I also love the fact that what we've seen from the trailers gives us the bare minimum of what this movie entails, and I can't wait to see how this dark horror story unfolds. The announced cast already includes heavy hitters like Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, and Alden Ehrenreich, alongside Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, Benedict Wong, and Amy Madigan. But, Cregger is intentionally hiding sonme other major players. And just like with Barbarian, the trailer might be a masterclass in misdirection. Cregger explains: 'The engine of the children leaving is the engine of the whole movie, but the mystery is not the engine of the whole movie.' So there's a much larger narrative hiding beneath the surface. This movie is going to get really interesting! Weapons opens in theaters on August 8th, and if Cregger's words are any indication, this one's going to be a wild, secret-packed ride.

Legendary's STREET FIGHTER Movie Casts Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim — GeekTyrant
Legendary's live-action Street Fighter movie has added some serious martial arts credibility with the casting of Indian action star Vidyut Jammwal ( Commando ) as Dhalsim, according to Deadline. This marks Jammwal's Hollywood debut, and sources say he's been extremely selective about the project that would introduce him to U.S. audiences. Known for his intense action work and jaw-dropping fight choreography in India, the actor brings an authentic physicality to the role of Dhalsim, a fan-favorite character first introduced in Street Fighter II in 1991. Dhalsim is a yogi with the ability to breathe fire, a fundamentally peaceful man who fights only to support his family. Jammwal is already a massive star in India, with over 22 million followers on social media and a résumé that includes blockbuster franchises like Commando and Khuda Haafiz . While he's hugely popular internationally, this is his first step into the Hollywood spotlight. As previously revealed, the movie's ensemble is packed with talent, including: Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Jason Momoa as Blanka, Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson as Balrog, Orville Peck as Vega, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Roman Reigns as Akuma, and Hirooki Goto as E. Honda The film is directed by Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip), with plot details still under wraps. Since its debut in 1987, Street Fighter has been a cultural phenomenon, selling over 55 million copies worldwide and standing as one of the most iconic fighting game franchises ever created. Legendary seems to be going all-in on bringing the colorful, diverse cast of fighters to life, and with Jammwal stepping in as Dhalsim, fans can expect some incredible on-screen combat. What do you think of this casting choice? Does Jammwal fit the role of Dhalsim?
