Shropshire fire bosses plan social media rules after scandal
Last year auditors told the fire authority that they had "been unable to find a social media policy" and if there was one "there is scope for it to be provided so that it is adhered to". Elected members of the authority had asked to be included in a new protocol. The policy refers to social media and social networking sites, including WhatsApp.The draft policy said: "It should be remembered that the use of WhatsApp by members of staff should be in line with the service's core values and workplace charter."Even on a personal device/account, may become disclosable evidence in legal hearings or public inquests."It added that "WhatsApp is currently not a corporate tool and should not be used as a formal method of communication due to issues such as security, [General Data Protection Regulation] and [Freedom of Information] requests. "We would encourage staff to use [Microsoft] Teams to communicate with their colleagues."The new protocol applies to the use of social media for both business and personal purposes, whether during work hours or otherwise.The draft protocol also added that "all employees are responsible for their own actions in the use of social media". Football fan banned for running on to pitch at Accrington Stanley
A football fan has been banned from attending matches for three years after running onto the pitch at Accrington Stanley's Wham Griffiths, of Birkenhead, jumped over a barrier from the Coppice Terrace to celebrate Tranmere Rovers' 101st-minute equaliser in the 3-3 draw with Stanley on 12 34-year-old ran on the pitch with his arms raised, and was seen attempting to hug a Tranmere player, before running towards the centre of the pitch, Lancashire Police was later identified and ordered to attend Blackburn Magistrates' Court where he pleaded guilty to entering the playing area during a football match. 'Completely unacceptable' The court imposed a three-year banning order, issued Mr Griffiths with a £40 fine, and ordered him to pay £85 in Ross Bosdorff said Griffiths' actions were "completely unacceptable"."Such actions disrupt the game and can put players at unnecessary risk."We will take action against fans who enter the playing area during matches." Thames Valley Police officer in Cowley 'lied over victim contact'
A police officer found to have lied when he said he had spoken to a woman who had reported coercive control would have been sacked had he not Liam Bateman claimed he spoke to the woman on 28 March 2024 but, on being contacted the next day by a sergeant, she said they had not spoken for a Valley Police's Chief Constable Jason Hogg found Mr Bateman, who worked in Cowley, Oxford, "knowingly made false records" on the force's computer system about his contact with the Hogg found he had also "failed to properly consider the risk" to the woman and her children and that his behaviour amounted to gross misconduct. He also found Mr Bateman was told by superiors to carry out further enquiries into the woman's case but that he had Bateman resigned from the force in May 2024 and he did not attend the accelerated misconduct hearing into his behaviour earlier this name has been added to the College of Policing's barred list.
