Netflix determines whether to renew a movie based on various factors such as completion rate, viewership numbers, production costs, and more.
As of now, there's no news regarding the renewal of The Old Guard, but we look at the possibility of a Part 3.
It may have taken 5 years to get The Old Guard sequel but here it finally is! And The Old Guard 2 cast includes old and new faces such as Charlize Theron, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Matthias Schoenaerts, KiKi Layne, Henry Golding, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Veronica Ngô and Uma Thurman. With shocking revelations and plot twists, the ending had viewers on the edge of their seats.
If you've watched the movie and want to know if there will be a third, this article has all the details you're looking for.
Here's everything we know:
What is The Old Guard 2 about?
As a quick refresher, the first movie follows a bunch of immortals, led by Andy, who go around saving the world and humanity from man-made dangers. In the first movie, they face an existential crisis, an innovative villain and centuries-old regret. The Old Guard 2 picks up where it left off with a now-human Andy, Nile, Joe, Nicky and Copley teaming up to get rid of powerful criminals. But trouble is afoot as Nile dreams of a strange woman wreaking havoc.
Traps are set but the team races to her willingly as this new danger is none other than Quỳnh, the immortal Andy failed to save 500 years ago. Seeking revenge against the immortals and humanity for abandoning her, Quỳnh ropes in the team's exiled member, Booker and a mysterious woman, Discord, who may be more powerful than all of the immortals combined.
We have extensive coverage of The Old Guard 2 on the site, including a movie review. You can find those HERE!
Will there be The Old Guard 3?
At the time of writing, Netflix hasn't renewed The Old Guard 3.
The Old Guard 2 has been co-produced by Skydance Productions which is responsible for several franchise sequels such as Mission: Impossible, Star Trek and Terminator. However, with Netflix distributing The Old Guard 2, we will have to keep an eye out on the reception.
Netflix usually announces sequels depending on the popularity, views and drop-off rates. Some movies are instantly renewed like Enola Holmes and Rebel Moon while others take years such as Extraction, Murder Mystery and The Old Guard itself.
So, while The Old Guard 2 does have a steady fanbase which guarantees some modicum of success, there is still no news on a sequel. However, the original author and the cast are excited to turn it into a multi-series franchise which means there is hope.
What do we know about The Old Guard 3?
Not much is known about The Old Guard 3 at the moment, given that it has not been greenlit. However, Part 2 ends on a massive cliffhanger which means there is ample material for the next movie should it happen. On top of that, the movies are based on Greg Rucka's graphic novels of the same name, so there is definitely a framework ready to be followed.
However, nothing is confirmed. We'll be sure to update this page as soon as any new information comes in.

Donald Trump kisses Melania at July 4th party

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump were caught kissing from the Truman Balcony on Friday ahead of Washington, D.C.'s grand Fourth of July fireworks display. The first couple kissed and hugged as supporters down below 'awww'-ed the scene. Trump hosted military families on the South Lawn for the occasion, marking the holiday with a picnic. Earlier in the night, he delivered a speech from the balcony before signing his 'Big Beautiful Bill' into law, as Congress made good on a promise to pass the mega piece of legislation before the Trump-imposed July 4 deadline. There were also a trio of military flyovers, including B-2 bombers, the stealth jets used in recent military action over Iran. The Trumps had slipped into the West Wing but returned to watch the annual fireworks display over the National Mall. The DJ played patriotic tunes — but also a number of eyebrow-raising pop songs from artists like Katy Perry and Lady Gaga, who vocally supported Trump's Democratic rivals Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris. Perry's song "Firework" was played. Other tracks included HOT TO GO! by Chappell Roan and Defying Gravity, sung by Cynthia Erivo in Wicked — both popular LGBTQ artists. A number of country hits were also in the mix. Audience members shouted 'four more years' and 'eight more years.' Trump is three and a half years into his second term and is Constitutionally ineligible to run again — despite some Republicans backing an amendment to allow it, citing his unique situation of serving two non-consecutive terms. His walk-on song, Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA," was played multiple times during the event. As the fireworks ended, YMCA played — Trump's traditional walk-off tune. He did his trademark dance and even got Melania to briefly join in, though neither performed the YMCA letter moves. The crowd included Cabinet members and Trump officials such as Joint Chiefs Chair Dan 'Razin' Caine, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, and EPA Secretary Lee Zeldin. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was photographed holding up the 'Big, Beautiful Bill' after Trump's signing. Wiles was seen in conversation with Katie Miller, wife of top adviser Stephen Miller, who worked for VP Mike Pence in the previous administration and has been working with Elon Musk in this one. After weeks of tension over the bill, Musk is now threatening to start a political party and support Republicans like Rep. Thomas Massie. Trump and Melania departed for their Bedminster, New Jersey golf resort after the celebration, with the president pumping his fist as they boarded Air Force One.

Dark TV show 'compared to Ozark' dominates Netflix charts

Last month Netflix dropped all eight episodes of a new drama that's been compared to Ozark and it's now dominating the Netflix charts. The Waterfront, which was created by Dawson's Creek and Scream writer Kevin Williamson, is currently number one on the Netflix charts and has been watched an impressive 11,600,000 times. So what's it about? Well, set against the backdrop of coastal North Carolina… [The Waterfront] centres on the fictional Buckley family and their crumbling fishing empire.' Starring 90s movie star Holt McCallany, Coyote Ugly actress Maria Bello, and Supergirl legend Mellisa Benoist, The Waterfront 'explores family dynamics and the lengths people will go to when their legacy is on the line'. The series has proven to be wildly popular and many fans were excited about The Waterfront before they'd even seen it. This is definitely giving me the same vibes as Ozark did!' However, now that the show's been released, it's earned a host of new fans who've taken to social media to shower the series with praise. 'I've finished watching The Waterfront,' wrote @VivQi on X. 'It was definitely intense, chaotic, fast paced and entertaining to watch!' @benoistpost added: 'We need season 2 of #TheWaterfront please @Netflix'. Meanwhile, @dariacott admitted they, 'Came for Melissa Benoist, stayed for the plot! Overall, really good show.' On Reddit, Liltwaunnysquirt wrote: 'I enjoyed the show. Reminded me of Ozarks a little bit, certainly not as good, but still thought it was solid.' 'I loved the show,' said Basic-Insect3214. 'Maybe it is because I have not watched the other shows that it is being compared to constantly, so for me as a standalone, it was a good watch.' The series has been compared to Ozark not just because they're both on Netflix, but because both shows depict an otherwise ordinary family pulled into the criminal underworld. In Ozark, the Byrde family moved to the titular region to continue laundering money for a large Mexican drug cartel, leading to several violent confrontations. The Waterfront creator Kevin Williamson told Netflix: 'We've never really seen a story about the commercial fisherman told before in any sort of dramatic way in a family drama. '[The fishing industry] is being taken away from them bit by bit. [The lead characters] will do anything to hold onto it – it represents their family. They also care about the town, and so many people depend on them.' He continued, talking about the plot, which sees the characters having to make millions of dollars very quickly: 'It's about a bunch of people who make mistakes, they do some bad things, and then they get in deeper and deeper and deeper. Have you been watching The Waterfront? 'When you have all these people doing bad things, it's always nice when they do that one good thing that can bring hope back.' Kevin also revealed that the story behind the series is, in part, a personal and autobiographical one, with his father involved in the fishing industry once upon a time. More Trending 'The fishing industry upturned in the '80s – my dad couldn't feed his family. So, someone came along and said, 'Hey, if you do this one thing, you can make all this money' and it was hard to say no to. 'My dad – a very, very good man – got tempted to do some things that weren't so legal and got in some trouble. [But] it put food on the table and it helped me go to college.' The Waterfront is available to watch on Netflix now. (This article was first published on June 19, 2025.) Got a story?
