Bahrain Participates in World Police Summit 2025
Lt. Gen. Al Hassan took part in a prominent panel discussion titled "Technological Transformations in the Landscape of Organised Crime," where he addressed the growing threats posed by emerging forms of crime, including cyber fraud and illicit drug trafficking.
He highlighted how modern criminal networks are increasingly turning to advanced technologies such as cryptocurrencies, encrypted messaging platforms, and the dark web to bypass law enforcement surveillance and disrupt investigative processes.
Emphasising the need for enhanced international cooperation, Lt. Gen. Al Hassan called for the development of robust cross-border legal frameworks and the strengthening of inter-agency trust and communication to combat transnational crime effectively.
He also stressed the importance of investing in law enforcement training to keep pace with technological advances, including the adoption of artificial intelligence to support predictive policing and proactive crime prevention strategies.
The Chief of Public Security outlined Bahrain's proactive initiatives in building strong community partnerships and launching youth-focused programmes aimed at protecting society from drugs, organised crime, digital fraud, and online harassment. These efforts include nationwide security awareness campaigns in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, as well as coordinated efforts with international partners.
Lt. Gen. Al Hassan concluded by reaffirming the crucial role of global security coordination in addressing cross-border criminal activity. He praised the contributions of organisations such as INTERPOL and the GCC Police Authority in advancing police capabilities, sharing expertise, and strengthening regional and international security networks.

Dubai Police Arrest and Extradite 3 INTERPOL-wanted Suspects
Dubai Police have arrested and extradited to authorities in Belgium three prime suspects wanted in that country in connection with cases of cross-border organised crime. The trio were listed in the most wanted category by the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) and the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol). The three Belgian nationals were held based on INTERPOL red notices issued against them in an operation that showcased Dubai Police's close coordination with international law enforcement agencies. The three suspects, Mathias Akyazili, Giorgi Faes, and Othman El Ballouti, face several serious criminal charges, including: Operating a notorious gang Trafficking narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances Committing robbery Engaging in human trafficking Their extradition comes after Dubai Police, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, launched a thorough investigation led by the General Department of Criminal Investigation, acting upon an international arrest warrant submitted by Belgian authorities to the International Cooperation Department at the UAE Ministry of Justice, the designated central authority for facilitating international cooperation requests. All required legal and judicial formalities were duly complied with before proceeding with the extradition request. Dubai Police affirmed that its swift intervention in such cases reflects its commitment to building bridges of cooperation with law enforcement agencies around the world and effectively combating all forms of transnational organised crime.
