Jamie Lee Curtis Had 1 Major Condition for Filming ‘Freakier Friday'

Yahoo2 days ago
Jamie Lee Curtis had one major condition before agreeing to star in the Freaky Friday sequel, Freakier Friday. In an interview with the Associated Press, the actress said the film was a 'love letter to Los Angeles' following the Palisades wildfires that ravaged Southern California in early 2025, and that she refused to film it in a less expensive location as many movie and TV productions do.
'The original movie was, and I knew that the sequel had to be filmed in Los Angeles,' Curtis, 66, said. 'I told Disney I would not shoot it in Atlanta. I would not shoot it in Vancouver. If they didn't get the tax credit, I wasn't going to make the movie.'
Curtis explained that the house used for Lindsay Lohan's character Anna Coleman's home in the 2003 Freaky Friday remake of the 1976 classic that starred Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris, 'burnt to the ground' in the Palisades fires.
'So, I feel—made me cry—I feel particularly proud that I really lobbied and took a stand that we had to shoot it here and that we were able to shoot it in these beautiful places,' she explained. 'And that we will now forever, because of movies, see what the Pacific Palisades looked like before this horrific fire.'
Lohan agreed that the sequel film was a homage to the city. In a May interview with Elle, Lohan said, 'The film is such an homage to California after the fires, because we shot a lot in the Palisades and in Malibu. Even the house — the original Freaky Friday house — unfortunately, is gone. So I think it'll be a really nice love letter.'
Lohan noted that the local filming location was also a nice perk for the crew members, who were able to 'go back home to their families' each night.

However, the ETF's 11% gains on a YTD basis outshine the stock's single-digit returns over the same time frame. Disney's outperformance is driven by strong Q2 earnings, streaming momentum with 126 million Disney+ subscribers, and growth in domestic parks and experiences. The company also expects double-digit segment operating income growth in Entertainment for fiscal 2025, which is expected to fuel the rally and positive analyst sentiment. On May 7, DIS shares closed up by 10.8% after reporting its Q2 results. Its adjusted EPS of $1.45 exceeded Wall Street's expectations of $1.18. The company's revenue was $23.6 billion, beating Wall Street forecasts of $23.1 billion. DIS expects full-year adjusted EPS to be $5.75. For the current fiscal year, ending in September, analysts expect DIS' EPS to grow 16.3% to $5.78 on a diluted basis. The company's earnings surprise history is impressive. It beat the consensus estimate in each of the last four quarters. Among the 28 analysts covering DIS stock, the consensus is a 'Strong Buy.' That's based on 21 'Strong Buy' ratings, two 'Moderate Buys,' and five 'Holds.' This configuration is more bullish than two months ago, with 20 analysts suggesting a 'Strong Buy.' On Jul. 29, Mizuho Financial Group, Inc. (MFG) maintained a 'Buy' rating on DIS with a price target of $138, implying a potential upside of 15.9% from current levels. The mean price target of $132.64 represents an 11.4% premium to DIS' current price levels. The Street-high price target of $148 suggests an upside potential of 24.3%. Joanna Cassidy Celebrates 80th Birthday in Sexy Beach Shoot Weeks After Revealing Romance with Alan Hamel (Exclusive)

The actress posed for photos exclusive to PEOPLE, celebrating her 80th birthday, feeling wonderful and carefreeNEED TO KNOW Joanna Cassidy, the actress known for roles in Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead and Blade Runner, celebrates her 80th birthday on Aug. 2 The actress tells PEOPLE about the milestone birthday, which comes on the heels of her exciting new relationship with Alan Hamel Cassidy and Hamel talk about getting older, staying in shape and what's next for the actress in the latest stage of her careerJoanna Cassidy is feeling fabulous at 80! The Blade Runner actress celebrates her 80th birthday on Aug. 2, sharing photos from a Malibu beach photoshoot marking the milestone. In a chat with PEOPLE about the special milestone, she admits she feels "no different than when I was 30, quite honestly." "Time is an illusion! I'm very aware of the fact that it's passing very quickly, but it's sort of nothing. I just say, 'Go day by day.' " Cassidy admits that she "can't say I'm excited about the number," but assures, "otherwise it's just another adventure, another decade." "I know I'll make it through beautifully and come out the other side of that one. Who knows what'll happen after that? Just a decade. I think that when I turned 50, that was sort of the hard one, but this is just icing on the cake. I feel like I'm 35 and I think I look pretty good." Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. Cassidy says that part of keeping herself young is nurturing her mind, body and spirit. "I think the most important thing that I do, which I've been learning how important it is, is to give back. I'm not on that trajectory anymore, where I have to accomplish things. The only things I have to accomplish are taking care of myself and working out and being a kind, loving person," she says. "My mind is still open to learning how to be a good person. And every time I find another instance where I can be that, I just feel better. I know that has to do with your DNA, your all-around cellular health." She continues, "I have animals. I love animals. I love to walk. I love to exercise. It's important to me to interact with people and hear them and listen and see what kind of exchange we can make. It was sort of miraculous to run into Alan. I hadn't even seen him in 30 years." Cassidy and boyfriend Alan Hamel made their unofficial debut as a couple earlier this summer. Hamel agrees that what brought them together was "a miracle." "We met over 50 years ago. Joanna was a guest on my show in Canada, and that was in the late '70s, I think. The next time I saw her, she was doing a major mini-series with Suzanne and Anthony Hopkins. And then I didn't see her again until a few months ago," he tells PEOPLE. "We connected, and I'm happy that we connected. She's a great woman. The thing is that she will help anybody to do anything. She's amazing that way," Hamel continues. Laughing, he adds, "I don't have that DNA. She does. It's amazing. It's admirable. Next to her, I feel like there's more I should be doing for the world." The two look forward to celebrating Joanna's birthday throughout August, getting outside and making memories together. "The aging process is great. People think that it's not, but it's great. You get a lot more out of each birthday, especially when you're celebrating after five years or 10 years," Hamel says. Cassidy is also looking for more out of her career. In addition to three projects already in the works, she's looking for the next big role, preferably an action-packed one. "Well, having been in the original Blade Runner, my sense of physicality [is important]. Before we did this interview, I just did a class that was one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. I came back, and my legs were shaking. Everything's shaking on me. And so that's a really important part of my life, is to be in the gym and work out and push myself physically," she says. "I love to do that. And I want to be in another adventure movie. I want to be in a movie where I can show those attributes that I have. That's what I want to do." Hamel agrees, celebrating his partner as "perfect to be an action hero." "The reality is, she's taller than most women and in great physical condition," he says, adding to Cassidy, "You could probably do all your own stunts as well. And I think there's room for a female action hero out there." "Don't get me wrong, I played a lot of grannies too. I was a granny in Six Feet Under, and I enjoyed the heck out of that. I love to play women who are kind of badass emotionally and physically," she says. "I like it. I'd like to play Charlize Theron's mother. That's what I'd love to do." The Young Bucks Mimic Cody Rhodes' Statement About ‘Respect'

Ever since losing their EVP titles, the Young Bucks have not been receiving the best treatment in AEW. The Bucks got their pyrotechnics removed, and their entrance video was cut. Whenever they show up on AEW television, it's treated like they are just enhancement talent. On last night's episode of AEW Dynamite, when the former AEW World Tag Team Champions showed up for their match, their nameplates did not even read their names. It was just a default placeholder that said, 'Stat' followed by 'Talent Name,' and 'Social Media.' Recently, former AEW Star and current WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes was interviewed by The Ringer. During the interview, The American Nightmare shared that he felt disrespected during his time in All Elite Wrestling, and that was why he chose to leave the company. 'There's clearly bad blood. But there's also clearly respect and love. In the end, the way I see it is, if I felt disrespected ever at WWE, that's one thing. That's a company that was built…that's the Yankees. That's the flagship of it all. If I ever felt [disrespected] there, I was a number on a sheet, maybe, but feeling disrespected at something I built with my friends. That we built. Feeling disrespected there, I wouldn't stand for it,' Cody Rhodes said. After how things went on AEW Dynamite, the Young Bucks shared a similar sentiment. The brothers took to Twitter to share that the lack of respect hurts them the most. 'You know what hurts the most is the… the lack of respect. You know? That's what hurts the most,' The Young Bucks tweeted. The Bucks' treatment in AEW is a storyline, but former TNA boss Scott D'Amore does see them leaving for WWE down the line.
