Jo Wood 's 5-word statement on stepson Jesse's split from Fearne Cotton

Jo Wood opens up on stepson Jesse Wood's split, why she's flying the flag for older women - and how you can 'pick yourself up and start again' at any age, as she knows all too well Since turning 70 in March, model, TV personality and health entrepreneur Jo Wood is embarking on a new chapter — as she adds novelist to her lengthy list of credentials. Inspired to write her debut book after going on a date, as she exclusively tells OK!, it unleashed a passion for writing that Jo never knew she had. Drawing on her own experiences of heartbreak and divorce for The Resurrection Of Flo, the ex-wife of Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie says it's given her a new lease of life — and she hopes it inspires others to do the same. 'It's a story really for women to be able to pick themselves up whatever age you are, even if you'd be 70 or 80, to pick yourself up and get back out there again,' Jo explains. ‌ READ MORE: 'Quietest fan on the market' to rival Dyson hits Amazon Prime Day deal with a £45 saving ‌ 'I bumped into a girlfriend I hadn't seen for years, and she turned around to me and said she'd just split with her husband. She said, 'My life's over now.' I said, 'No, it's not. Are you crazy?' I was 53 when my husband walked out on me. I said, 'It's not over.' 'And another thing, my mum, when she was getting old, she said to me that as she got older, she became invisible. I said, 'Mum, you are not invisible. I want to show you can do anything at any time.'' And Jo is doing exactly that. She's already thinking about book number two in between running her businesses Jo Wood Organics and Longevity Wellness and being a devoted grandmother to 10. Jo packs a punch in more ways than one, as she speaks to us fresh out of a boxing class. So has she got a mean right hook? 'I have actually,' she smiles. 'I've been doing it for years.' The sparring practice came in handy when she had a run-in with a drunk stranger, who came off second best. 'Years ago, some drunk guy grabbed a hat off my daughter and I just took off and ran after him, grabbed the hat and tripped him over at the same time,' Jo recalls. 'He fell on the floor. I said, 'Don't f**k with me and my daughter.' I was so furious. I wonder if I could do that now? Of course I could!' ‌ There's certainly no writing Jo off. With the air of an eternal optimist, she has brushed off hard times to come out the other side smiling. Jo's colourful life has inspired parts of her book — which was sparked by a first date. 'I never ever thought about writing a novel,' Jo admits. 'I'll tell you what happened. I went on a date with some guy and he told me about the break-up of his marriage, and I walked out of that restaurant and I walked down the road and I thought to myself, 'That would make such a great story.' And that was it.' ‌ From there, Jo started building up a picture of her main character, Flo. Writing notes on her phone, she eventually got up to 55,000 words and the beginnings of her book were born. So, is Flo anything like Jo? 'She's not as silly as me, but she does make lots of mistakes like I have,' Jo laughs. It wasn't just Jo's own life that threw up ideas for the book — stories from her friends also made it in there. I asked my girlfriends to give me a story that I could use as inspiration for my book. I went, 'Did you really just tell me that? Can I use it for the book?' A couple are in there.' Speaking of romantic ups and downs, mum-of-three Jo — who has daughter Leah, 46, and sons Jamie, 50, and Tyrone, 41 — was surprised by her stepson Jesse Wood's split from his presenter wife Fearne Cotton. The pair announced the end of their marriage last December, with both going on to find new partners. ‌ 'I didn't see it coming,' admits Jo. 'You don't know what their life is like behind closed doors.' However, Jo says Jesse, 48, is 'crazy' about his new love, 39- year-old former Made In Chelsea star Gemma Gregory — while wishing Fearne, 43, the best. 'You know she's got a new life, I hope she's very happy,' Jo says. 'Jesse's doing great. He's got a new girlfriend and he is crazy about her. That happened in a flash! He's good. I'm really happy.' The family has form for maintaining a good relationship with exes — Jo and Ronnie, 78, being the prime example. They are often pictured together alongside their children and Ronnie's third wife Sally. ‌ Jo takes her hat off to Ronnie's longevity with the Rolling Stones — and says she believes it's down to women carrying the stress for them. 'They don't have any stress, the boys,' she muses. 'You know what they've got, they've got that music, the vibrations and the music, which I think is really good for them. Keeps them young.' Jo says she's flying the flag for older women exploring their passions in later life. 'If you look at leaders of the world, Donald Trump is in his seventies, Mick Jagger is still prancing around the stage at 81,' she vents. 'Why aren't we seeing more women do the same? We live longer than men anyway. We should still be creative way into our eighties, nineties even.' Twice-married Jo says her love life has been put on hold while she focuses on her book. 'I occasionally go out on a date, but last year I was doing this book, I didn't want to go on any dates,' she says. 'And, at the moment, I've got so much on. I don't have time and it will only be a distraction. 'I know what I'm like. I go head over heels if I am into something. But I do hope to find somebody, still, but who knows. I am also very attached to my single life. I like being on my own. 'Right now, I like how I know everything I have, I don't have to pick up anybody else's clothes, do anybody's washing, wonder what they want to eat. But it would be nice if I could share it with somebody.'

Why Gen Z is obsessed with reading dragon porn

Daily Mail journalists select and curate the products that feature on our site. If you make a purchase via links on this page we will earn commission - learn more Gen Z: Keep it down, I'm reading my book. Boomer: You've actually put down your phone? My new romantasy read – Onyx Storm by 44-year-old Rebecca Yarros – has me in a chokehold. Romantasy? Like Aragorn and Arwen's love story in The Lord Of The Rings? Nah, it's 527 pages of hot dragon-rider sex that topped both The Sunday Times and The New York Times bestseller lists. You're reading dragon porn? Everyone is. #Romantasy has more than a billion tagged posts on TikTok. So long, J K Rowling; hello, randy reptiles. It's not just dragons – sales of 75 million steamy fairy novels made Sarah J Maas, 39, the world's top-selling author of 2024. I saw that she was on The Times' bestselling authors list last year, and agreed with the commenter who wrote: 'Horny Hobbits! What on Middle Earth?' Laugh away, but romance sales have more than doubled since 2020. It's now the world's most popular genre. We all enjoy a good love story. It's about spice, not love. A literary agent told The Guardian: 'The steamier the sex, the better a book does.' I read Jilly Cooper's Rivals. Never seen the word c**k so often in one book. Lame. Bookfluencer Tierney Page would give it three at best on the spice-ometer. Isn't that the flavour scale at Nando's? It's a ranking of a book's smuttiness. So five chillies means full-on bonking? Five chillies is for books that are 'cooked', 'unhinged' and 'taboo', Page says. Dare I ask what qualifies? Dream lovers: romance (and romantasy) books are huge among Gen Z Try Taming Seraphine by Gigi Styx. It has a two-page list of triggers, from BDSM and bondage to knife play and exhibitionism. What would Jilly think? Makes Rupert Campbell-Black and his, erm, 'baseball bat' seem ideal boyfriend material. The hitman love interest is described as 'sexy as hell' and 'pant-melting'. The latter sounds more like an iron setting than a character description. One of the book's most popular quotes shared on TikTok is: 'I've killed two of the most important people in my life for you… Because I love you…' My idea of romance is more 'flowers and chocolates' than 'I'll take out my entire family to prove my devotion.' Fair. Maybe have a browse of West London's Saucy Books instead. Let me guess: Hugh Grant's store from Notting Hill has been turned into a sex shop? It's London's first romance-only bookshop, launched last month by 38-year-old Sarah Maxwell. They should have called it Randy Elf On A Shelf. TikTok sisters Avie and Jazzi's tour of the store hit 200,000 views, with shoppers loving its 'Smut Hut'. I imagine that'll cause some issues when people search it on Google Maps. It's a section for the store's most erotic titles, BBC News reported, arranged into sub-sections like 'Enemies To Lovers'. Aren't you lot embarrassed to read this stuff in public? Obvs not. Saucy Books is so popular it sells tickets with customer time slots. I was so mortified reading Fifty Shades at the beach I hid it under Orwell's 1984. Surveillance, submission, a guy obsessed with control: TBH they're not that different. If everyone's reading porn in public, maybe I'll cash in. In fact, a spicy rewrite of a classic novel is already simmering. Jane Eyrotic?

THE CHIC LIST: Why I'll never stop tuning in to Carrie Bradshaw's wardrobe

Daily Mail journalists select and curate the products that feature on our site. If you make a purchase via links on this page we will earn commission - learn more The latest series of And Just Like That... is winning me over. Kristin Davis, who plays Charlotte, has had her much ridiculed facial fillers removed and the annoying characters, including Miranda's comedian partner Che, have thankfully departed. You won't be surprised to hear I'm mostly tuning in to check out the wardrobe but I'm also lusting after Carrie's new brownstone address, which, with its high ceilings and old winding staircase, has similar design features to a Victorian London townhouse. Turning over a new leaf, this home marks a fresh beginning in Carrie's life. The $5 million address in real life is 3 Gramercy Park West and interiors lovers are treated to lots of scrumptious shots of wooden floors, decorative friezes and ornate plasterwork. Wardrobe-wise, Carrie is as maximalist as ever and, alongside Charlotte and Miranda, the series continues to deliver viral fashion moments with gusto (see the enormous gingham hat sported by Carrie in episode one), while advancing the style evolution of our favourite trio. Miranda now favours quiet luxury (a Max Mara olive green jumpsuit and Loro Piana checked coat, for instance) and Charlotte is staying true to her Upper East Side preppy look in pussy-bow blouses, pencil skirts and florals. Costume designers Molly Rogers and Danny Santiago continue to helm the show's closet, having worked alongside Patricia Field on Sex And The City. On approaching the styling for And Just Like That... Rogers said, 'The girls were so excited to be back, like we never left. It was the same atmosphere, the same energy. They loved to look through the racks and pull things out and we'd all look in the mirror with the same critical eye and say, 'That needs to be shorter,' or 'That's not flattering...' We did a vote. It was really collaborative and fun.' The show is as inspiring as ever for fashion fans, with some wearable contemporary outfits that are still available to buy and some outlandish vintage pieces. Apparently, Rogers and Santiago found lots of the characters' preloved handbags on the Fashionphile website. A vintage Birkin speaks louder than words, darlings. @thestylistandthewardrobe @youmagazine HOT TO TROT Brooches are well and truly back and are a sleek way to elevate a blazer. There are plenty to choose from on the high street but this equestrian-inspired one by Greek brand Ysso caught my eye. Brooch SPOTTED With its airy boho vibes, Californian brand Dôen is having a very good summer. Actress Camila Morrone (right) looked stunning stepping out for refreshments in its Simona dress. She paired it with a Coach bag and boots for some yeehaw energy. Taylor Swift also recently wore one of its dresses. AND SO (NOT) TO BED Channel the carefree style of Dôen with British nightwear brand If Only If. Its wafty nightwear is perfect for lazy summer days and is too pretty to save for bedtime.
