Former UNC basketball star records double-double in NBA Summer League action

When you look back at the 2023-2024 UNC basketball season, who's the most impactful player that comes to your mind from that team? Is it Armando Bacot? RJ Davis? Cormac Ryan?
What about Harrison Ingram? A 6'7" junior forward who could play anywhere on the floor, Ingram brought a rare versatility to Chapel Hill that college basketball programs are lucky to find.
Ingram averaged 11.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists and one steal per game during his lone season at North Carolina, earning Third Team All-ACC Honors. Just three months after the Tar Heels' once-promising year fell flat against Alabama in the Sweet 16, Ingram heard his name called in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Ingram played five games with the San Antonio Spurs last season, but spent most of his time with the G League's Austin Spurs. Now playing Summer League basketball in Las Vegas, Ingram is trying to convince San Antonio for an NBA call-up.
If Ingram's recent success is any indicator of making the Spurs' NBA roster, he's on the right track. Ingram recorded a 15-point, 14-rebound double-double during San Antonio's 93-91 win over the Utah Jazz on Monday.
Ingram will get a chance to build on Monday's strong performance this Thursday, July 17 at 7 p.m. against the Charlotte Hornets. With the Spurs currently 3-0, Ingram has a strong chance to compete for an NBA Summer League Championship.
There's another former Tar Heel currently on San Antonio's roster: Harrison Barnes. The Spurs have a very young team, headlined by Victor Wembanyama, giving Ingram a great pathway to earn minutes.

On this day: Celtics sign Baynes, Ojeleye, Mickey; Humphries traded
On this day in Boston Celtics history, the team signed Australian big man Aron Baynes in free agency to a one-year deal worth $4.3 million in 2017. All of Australia -- as he was sometimes called -- quickly became an invaluable part of the Celtics front line, known for his excellent defense and verticality as much as his unexpectedly solid 3-point shooting with the team. A New Zealander by birth, Baynes played for the team for two seasons before he was dealt away to the Phoenix Suns in order to help make cap room for major roster reshuffling following the disastrous 2018-19 season (no fault of Aron's, really). The big man averaged 5.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game while with the franchise. It is also the date Celtics forward Semi Ojeleye signed his four-year rookie deal, with three guaranteed years at $4.29 million and the fourth year worth $1.7 million. The SMU alum played four seasons for Boston before leaving for the Milwaukee Bucks in free agency in 2021, recording 3.5 points and 2.1 boards per game as a Celtic. Two years prior, in 2015, former Boston forward Jordan Mickey signed a two-year deal with the team after being drafted 33rd overall in the 2015 NBA Draft. Mickey played in 41 games over two seasons, spending much of his time in Maine with the Red Claws (Boston's developmental franchise in the G League, now the Maine Celtics), recording 1.4 points and 1.1 boards per contest with the team before being waived. On this day in 2002, ex-Celtics center Bruno Sundov signed a one-year deal with the team and played in 26 games with Boston in 2002-03. He averaged 1.2 points and 1.1 rebounds before he was dealt with J.R. Bremer and draft assets to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Jumaine Jones. In 2014, former Boston big Kris Humphries was dealt into the Washington Wizards' cap space for a second rounder. The Minnesota alum had come to the team in the deal that had sent Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Jason Terry to the Brooklyn Nets the season before. Report: Jonathan Kuminga's representation explored Warriors-Bulls trade options originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area While the Jonathan Kuminga situation has the Warriors stuck at a standstill, it appears there was an effort on the player's side to facilitate a move to an Eastern Conference team. Kuminga's representation explored sign-and-trade scenarios that would allow the Chicago Bulls to acquire the 22-year-old wing while also retaining restricted-free agent point guard Josh Giddey, NBA Insider Jake Fischer reported during a livestream on Bleacher Report's YouTube page on Thursday. Fischer also noted that a deal between these two teams would've made more sense for Golden State had the Warriors been able to receive point guard Lonzo Ball from Chicago in return, which now is impossible as the veteran point guard instead was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier this month. Fischer's report also indicated doubt the Warriors are interested in veteran big man Nikola Vučević, citing hesitancy around Golden State's enthusiasm in potentially losing Kuminga for a player on an expiring contract. The Warriors are the only NBA team who has yet to add or re-sign a player in free agency, with the lack of moves likely being directly tied to a lack of a resolution in the ongoing Kuminga saga. While it appears there at minimum was diligence done on a deal that would have sent Kuminga to the Windy City, there likely will need to be another avenue for a viable solution to conclude the ongoing saga that has put Golden State's offseason plans on hold for the moment.
