The action is being undertaken against the promoters of a company, Shilpi Cables Technologies Ltd (SCTL), and some linked entities. Nine premises in Delhi-NCR and one in Jalandhar were part of the searches being conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the sources said.
The money laundering case stems from a CBI FIR alleging cheating a consortium of banks led by the IDBI Bank to the tune of ₹ 988 crore by the promoters of SCTL and their associates, they said.
The ED suspects that a large portion of the money (loan) availed from the banks using LsC (Letters of Credit) were transferred abroad through 'fake' transactions. The role of the company managing director (MD) Manish Goel is under the scanner of the agency, as per the sources.

How Orris Group is Building the Future of Real Estate, One Data Point at a Time
In the fast-evolving real estate market of Delhi-NCR, innovation is no longer optional — it's essential. Among the developers embracing this shift, Orris Group has taken a distinctly data-first approach. At the heart of its transformation lies a framework known as Engineering Data Systems (ED-S) — a technology-led model that blends artificial intelligence, IoT, and predictive analytics to create smarter, more responsive developments. How Orris Group is Building the Future of Real Estate, One Data Point at a Tim Replacing Guesswork with Data-Driven Precision Unlike conventional construction workflows, the ED-S system treats each project as a living data ecosystem. The idea is simple but powerful: collect, analyse, and act on real-time data throughout the life cycle of a project — from soil testing and structural design to post-occupancy energy use. This approach is anticipated to yield significant results. Construction timelines will shorten by up to 30%, material wastage will reduce by 20%, and commercial projects will show a 40% drop in carbon emissions. Intelligent Buildings for a Changing City The real power of ED-S becomes more visible after construction. In Orris Group's Entertainland Mall in Sector 83, machine learning tools analysed five years of footfall data from comparable properties to guide space planning. Retailers in the revamped layout have seen up to 22% higher visibility, while energy efficiency improved by 15% through optimised natural lighting. Across Orris Group's residential projects, ED-S will continue to push the envelope with features such as facades that adapt to temperature changes, maintenance alerts generated before issues become visible, and smart community apps that help manage electricity and water use based on user patterns. These aren't futuristic ideas anymore. They are quietly becoming part of everyday life for homeowners in NCR. Sustainability, Designed from Day One For many developers, sustainability remains a checklist. For Orris, it is part of the design DNA — enabled by ED-S. ED-S also plays a role in material selection. With a database of over 5,000 construction material combinations, it helps engineers choose building elements that age better, require less maintenance, and are more resilient to climate fluctuations. Transparent Construction in the Digital Age For many homebuyers, the biggest concern is trust — in timelines, quality, and delivery. To address this, Orris Group has embedded transparency into its ED-S interface. Buyers will now be able to access live drone footage from construction sites, track progress through blockchain-based milestones, and explore interactive 3D walkthroughs that reflect real-time specifications. This shift has contributed to a significant milestone: more than 400 homes handed over on time in 2023, including the widely appreciated Orris Gateway commercial project. The Larger Impact on NCR's Growth Story Beyond buildings, Orris Group believes that ED-S could have long-term implications for how cities expand and operate. Properties developed using ED-S have appreciated 12 to 15% faster than their conventional counterparts. Over 600 families now live in homes that adapt to their needs. In 2024 alone, Orris Group's work was recognised with several renowned awards in the real estate sector. As the region prepares for a new phase of urban expansion, Orris Group's data-led model offers a glimpse into what the future of real estate might look like — efficient, sustainable, and responsive to its residents. ED Cracks Down On Mukhtar Ansari's Close Aide Atul Rai, Attaches Properties Worth Rs 4.18 Cr
Last Updated: The ED has attached six properties worth Rs 4.18 crore to Atul Rai, an aide of Mukhtar Ansari, in a money laundering probe. In a big crackdown against Mukhtar Ansari's network, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has linked six immovable properties worth Rs 4.18 crore to former BSP MP Atul Rai. This move is part of a money laundering investigation into Vikas Construction, a company allegedly controlled by Mukhtar Ansari. The ED's investigation revealed that Vikas Construction, allegedly operated under Mukhtar Ansari's influence, generated funds of crime totaling Rs 27.72 crore. Atul Rai, as a key associate, played a crucial role in layering these illicit funds through various companies. The ED has identified 1 residential apartment in New Delhi, 3 residential plots in Varanasi, and 2 agricultural lands in Ghazipur, valued at Rs 4.18 crore. The agency has also identified proceeds of crime Rs 15 crore earned from renting out godowns to Food Corporation of India, and Rs 3.10 crore subsidy obtained through dubious means. Money Laundering Case Further investigation indicated that approximately Rs 8.49 crore generated from Vikas Construction was deposited into bank accounts of M/s Aaghaz Project and Engineering Pvt. Ltd. and M/s Inizio Network Solution Pvt. Ltd., both companies owned and controlled by Mukhtar Ansari's relatives and aides. These funds were then routed through business accounts, disguising their origins, and transferred to companies owned by Atul Rai. The ED's probe uncovered a complex layering process, where proceeds of crime were transferred to various companies, including M/s Kusumvision Infra Private Limited, M/s Spectrum Infraservices Private Limited, and M/s Kusum Constructions and Telecom Services. The Yogi government has intensified its efforts to curb Mukhtar Ansari's influence, with the ED attaching assets worth crores and arresting nearly 100 accused in his gang. The government has also taken action under the Gangster Act in 75 cases, signaling a strong stance against organised crime. The ED's action against Atul Rai marks a significant step in dismantling Mukhtar Ansari's network. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. 'Narsimha Rao Learnt 17 Languages': Andhra CM Naidu Backs Hindi Adoption
Naidu hailed Rao as a 'great statesman' whose bold reforms continue to shape the country's progress even today Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday defended the importance of learning Hindi and praised former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao as a scholar who mastered 17 languages. Naidu made the comment while speaking at a lecture on 'The Life and Legacy of former PM Shri PV Narasimha Rao" in New Delhi. 'While today we are all asking, 'Why should we learn Hindi?', former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao was a scholar of 17 languages, he didn't just learn Hindi but other languages too and that's how he became a great man," the Andhra CM said. CM Chandrababu Naidu ( @ncbn) wades into the language row, says, 'While PV Narsimha Rao learnt 17 languages, we are questioning the importance of learning Hindi'While addressing a lecture on former PM PV Narsimha Rao in Delhi, CM Chandrababu Naidu defended learning Hindi… — Press Trust of India (@PTI_News) July 15, 2025 Naidu's remarks come amid fresh debates over the promotion of Hindi in non-Hindi-speaking states and fears of language imposition. In his address, Naidu hailed Rao as a 'great statesman" whose bold reforms continue to shape the country's progress even today. He credited Rao with launching India's economic liberalisation during a time of deep financial crisis. 'Before 1991, India followed the socialist economic model. Economy saw 'licence raj', foreign investment was limited… was facing a major economic crisis. exchange reserves hit an all time low. We were forced to pledge our sovereign gold," he said. 'It was time to bring bold reforms, and usher in forward-looking policy. He became (Rao) PM in June 1991, he recognised the crisis was an opportunity, and that India needed bold economic reforms. He launched the historic economic reforms," Naidu said. 'He changed the future of India, we are all here today enjoying the fruits of this reform," he said. Naidu pointed out that Rao led a minority government, which made pushing such reforms even more remarkable. 'He (Rao) was heading a minority government, not a comfortable government. To bring in bold reforms, political consensus is required. He was able to convince all stakeholders," he said. He also praised former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for building infrastructure during his tenure and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ensuring political stability and driving economic growth. 'Modi ji brought not just political stability, but also a renewed sense of global pride," Naidu stated. (With inputs from PTI) view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
