VIDEO: Tensions in Beirut after Iranian plane denied landing at airport
The Lebanese army intervened and managed to reopen the road after hours of demonstrations.
This development follows statements made by 'Israeli' army spokesperson Avichay Adraee, who once again accused Beirut's airport of being exploited by Iran's Quds Force and Hezbollah to smuggle funds for armament through civilian flights.
Meanwhile, reports emerged that an Iranian civilian aircraft carrying Lebanese pilgrims to Iran's holy sites was prevented from departing Tehran International Airport due to a lack of authorization to land in Beirut.
According to sources, dozens of Lebanese passengers were stranded at Tehran airport for more than four hours. The flight was scheduled to depart at 1:00 AM Beirut time, but passengers were later informed that they would not be able to return to Lebanon that day due to the denial of landing clearance in Beirut.
Stranded travelers urged Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri to intervene and facilitate their return home.
Commenting on the incident, a Lebanese civil aviation source told An-Nahar newspaper that "no landing permits were granted to the Iranian airline for Beirut Airport, and the plane carrying Lebanese passengers has not yet departed from Tehran." The source clarified that "flight authorizations are issued by Lebanon's Directorate General of Civil Aviation under the Ministry of Public Works and Transport."
Amid the escalating situation, some protesters took to blocking the airport road in response to the decision, before Lebanese army units intervened to restore order and reopen the road.

Iran jails senior official over comment on Sinwar
ALBAWABA - A story from Israel's Channel 12 says that an Iranian judge has given Abdolreza Davari, a former top Interior Ministry official, six months in jail for posts on social media that were critical of the late Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. Also Read Israeli airstrikes pound southern Lebanon Davari is famous for making controversial comments online about Iran's political elite. He used to work as an adviser to the interior minister and as deputy head of the official state news agency. The case started with a post Davari made on X (now Twitter) in September 2024. It made fun of Sinwar's reasons for attacking Israel and suggested that the two might have been working together. He wrote that Sinwar had learned Hebrew while being locked up in Israel and was acting as a go-between for Palestinian inmates and Israeli officials. Davari also said that the attack raised "serious question marks," saying that it looked like it was started without consulting with the leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah in Lebanon, or Iran. The post was taken down later. In addition to giving Davari a six-month jail term, the court also fined him money, took away his phone, and told him he couldn't use any social media sites. Davari is also being investigated in a different case because of things he said about a past head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization. This makes his legal problems even worse. The decision shows that the Iranian government is becoming more strict about public criticism and opposition, especially when it comes to important people in the region like Sinwar, whose death earlier this year is still being felt all over the Middle East.

'Israel' evacuates embassy in UAE amid fears of attack
'Israel' has increased the level of a travel warning to the United Arab Emirates, and also evacuated most of its staff from the embassy in the Gulf country, amid fears of attack. 'This comes amid growing indications that terrorist organizations (including Iranian-affiliated groups, Hamas, Hezbollah and global Jihad) are stepping up efforts to harm Israelis,' the 'Israeli' National Security Council said in a statement. The remaining staff in the UAE embassy will be placed under strict security guidelines. 'It is believed there is increased motivation for revenge…in addition to rising anti-Israel incitement and pro-Palestinian sentiment,' the council continued in the statement. 'In light of this, the NSC emphasizes the potential for terrorist attacks against Israeli and Jewish targets in the UAE, particularly around Jewish holidays and Sabbaths,' it added.
