Peace hinges on Kashmir resolution: PM
In a message on the occasion of Kashmir Accession Day, he said the government and people of Pakistan will continue to extend diplomatic, moral and political support to the Kashmiris.
"Kashmir Accession Day is celebrated every year on July 19, 1947, in memory of the Srinagar session of the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference," he noted.

He further stated that turning protests into anarchy is unjustifiable. On the other hand, the Opposition's parliamentary leader, Ali Imtiaz Warraich, condemned the government's dual conduct, adding that, on one side, the government observes August 5 as a day to voice against the exploitation of Kashmiris and Palestinians, but on the other hand, it treats the Opposition with the same cruelty. He mentioned that PTI had called for a nationwide protest on August 5. In response to this call, PTI lawmakers assembled outside DHA Rehbar, but the police arrested nine of their lawmakers. 'PTI conducted a peaceful protest, yet even its lawmakers and workers were arrested,' he said. Warraich warned that PTI would devise a future strategy if its lawmakers and workers were not released.

Govt confident of full-year achievement as FBR meets July tax target
After meeting its revenue target for July, the government believes that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is on track to achieve the full-year target. The development was highlighted during a weekly review meeting held in Islamabad regarding matters related to FBR, read a statement released by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Tuesday. The FBR provisionally collected over and above Rs754 billion during July 2025 against the assigned monthly target of Rs748 billion, reflecting achievement of 100.9% percent of target. Chairing the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction on the increase in the tax-to-GDP ratio, terming the development a result of reforms undertaken in the FBR. 'The federal government and I personally will fully support and safeguard the reform measures taken by the authorities,' he said. He directed authorities to ensure consistent implementation of reforms by eliminating red tape and institutional barriers. PM Shehbaz directed that in order to sustain the gains of tax collection in the ongoing fiscal year, the federation and provinces must work in coordination with an integrated strategy. 'Effective and efficient implementation of already levied taxes in the ongoing fiscal year will play a key role in further increasing tax collection,' he said. PM Shehbaz urged authorities in FBR to formulate a strategy in consultation with relevant federal agencies and the provinces, to improve the tax-to-GDP ratio. He said that the FBR and customs clearance departments should enhance their capacity in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to raise public awareness about the reformed system. During the meeting, it was told that on the special directive of the prime minister, the income tax returns form has been compiled online in Urdu. The meeting was told that approximately 84% of filers will benefit from the simplified and Urdu-based online income tax return form. It was learnt that the establishment of digital enforcement stations for customs clearance across the country is underway on a priority basis. The meeting was informed that a full implementation of the Centralized Assessment Unit (CAU) and the faceless customs system will help make the customs clearance system more efficient and transparent.

DPM Dar urges India to grant Kashmiris right to self-determination

Ishaq Dar addressed participants at a rally held in Islamabad to mark Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir (Kashmir Exploitation Day). "We will continue to extend diplomatic, political, and moral support to the Kashmiri people until their inalienable right to self-determination is realized". The rally started from the Foreign Office and culminating at D-Chowk, with participation from federal ministers, politicians, Hurriyat leaders, students, and citizens from various walks of life. The Deputy Prime Minister also voiced concern over media reports suggesting Indian authorities are attempting to "grant statehood to Jammu while retaining the Kashmir Valley as a Union Territory," calling such moves "unacceptable and provocative." Reiterating Pakistan's stance, Dar said "Pakistan believes in peaceful coexistence, but its commitment to peace should not be mistaken for weakness." He added: "Islamabad desires friendly relations with all neighboring countries and prefers dialogue and diplomacy over confrontation." However, he warned that "Pakistan's armed forces and its people are fully capable of delivering a resolute response to any act of aggression, as demonstrated during Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyanum-Marsoos." Tarar reiterated Pakistan's commitment to "continue raising voice of the Kashmiris at all world fora." Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Engineer Amir Muqam said, "August 5 is the blackest day in the history of Kashmir when India had revoked special status of Kashmir to illegally change the demography of the state." He added "Kashmiris have never accepted illegal Indian occupation on Kashmir." Moreover, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the just resolution of Jammu and Kashmir dispute was a key pillar of Pakistan's foreign policy and urged the international community to play a role in halting Indian human rights crimes in IIOJK. In his message on the occasion of Youm-e-Istehsaal, the prime minister urged the global community to press India to reverse its unilateral and illegal actions of August 5, 2019; repeal draconian laws and implement UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir. COAS Field Marshal Asim Munir, along with the CJCSC, naval chief, chief of air staff and the Pakistan Armed Forces have reaffirmed their unwavering solidarity with the resilient and courageous people of IIOJK. The armed forces of Pakistan fully support the legitimate and ongoing struggle of the Kashmiri people for their inalienable right to self-determination, as enshrined in international law and UN Security Council resolutions, the statement read. Youm-e-Istehsaal is being observed to express support for the Kashmiri people's right to freedom, and to protest India's illegal and unilateral action of August 5, 2019. It was on this day in 2019 when India unilaterally and illegally stripped Jammu and Kashmir of its special status.
