The Palestinian international impressed in the inaugural edition of the expanded competition, despite Ahly's early exit.
He scored a hat-trick in a dramatic 4-4 draw with Portugal's FC Porto on Tuesday and was named man of the match.
'It was a tournament full of lessons, with both highs and lows,' Abou Ali wrote on Instagram.
'Without a doubt, I will look back on it with pride as time goes on.'
The 26-year-old's future at the Cairo club remains uncertain, with media reporting he could leave during the summer transfer window.
Abou Ali joined Ahly from Swedish side IK Sirius in January 2024 on a four-year deal.
Despite arriving mid-season, he finished as the Egyptian Premier League's top scorer with 18 goals.
Since joining the record African champions, he has netted 38 goals and provided 10 assists in 60 appearances in all fronts.

Empowering her - Egyptian Football

The participants, one from each African football association, attended because they are already leaders - in their clubs, associations, communities and within the wider football ecosystem. The aim of the African Football Confederation (CAF) is to support these women in deepening their leadership journey, sharpening their skills and strengthening their voice in the game they all love. The programme, which was inaugurated by CAF General-Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba, was built around five key objectives: empowering women in leadership roles which helps them recognise and harness their unique strengths while navigating and overcoming challenges of leading in a traditionally male-dominated industry; developing leadership skills which provides women with practical tools and insights into effective leadership, and decision making, communications and conflict resolution, enabling women to lead with confidence and influence. Third is enhancing personal and professional growth which encourages women to reflect on their leadership journey, set goals and cultivate a growth mindset to continuously evolve both personally and professionally. Fourth, fostering a strong leadership network, building a community where women in football leadership can connect, share experiences and support one another long after the program ends. Lastly, creating actionable leadership plans, which helps equipping women with strategic, practical leadership development plans they can implement within their organisations, communities and federations. The three-day programme also included the following topics: 'The Story of Self' where participants get to understanding their selves, who they are, what they stand for and how to lead; 'The Story of US' where participants understand others; how to connect, collaborate and get the best out of others and 'The Story of Now' which included action planning and putting it into practice. The programme presented how self-awareness is the foundation for effective leadership which will support participants to identify and leverage their strengths, identify their areas for development and understand how this impacts their leadership style. Leaders who are self-aware can build stronger relationships, make better decisions and create positive working environments for their team. The programme also focused on values, which are personal to the participant leaders; they are their principles or standards of behaviour. Values can support them in leadership when it comes to decision-making or how they behave as a leader. The participants also learned that understanding what motivates them is a key part of the journey of self-discovery as a leader. * A version of this article appears in print in the 26 June, 2025 edition of Al-Ahram Weekly Follow us on: Facebook Instagram Whatsapp Short link:

Monaco close in on Fati loan signing from Barcelona - World

Barcelona forward Ansu Fati is expected to join French club Monaco on loan with an option to buy, sources close to the deal said Friday. The 22-year-old Spanish international passed his medical on Friday as Monaco and Barcelona agreed to a season-long loan deal with an 11-million-euro fee ($12.9 million) to make the move permanent. According to the same source, the contract will not be made official until July 1. Fati burst onto the scene at Barcelona aged 17, but has since failed to live up to initial high expectations. He made 11 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga champions last term, without finding the net. Fati spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Premier League club Brighton, where he scored four goals in 27 outings. With his expected arrival, Fati should become Monaco's third signing of the summer. Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is slated to sign for the Ligue 1 side, following on from England international Eric Dier. Pogba was also undergoing a medical with the principality side on Friday. The 32-year-old 2018 World Cup winner is seeking a club after having his contract terminated by Juventus in March while serving an 18-month suspension for doping. The trio should be officially announced to the press on July 3. (For more sports news and updates, follow Ahram Online Sports on Twitter at @AO_Sports and on Facebook at AhramOnlineSports.) Olivier Giroud to leave MLS side LAFC - World

Olivier Giroud, France's all-time top goalscorer, and Los Angeles FC have mutually agreed to part ways, the MLS club announced on Friday. The 38-year-old striker, who joined LAFC in May 2024 from AC Milan, will play his last match for the team on Sunday against Vancouver. "Olivier has been an exemplary professional during his time at LAFC," team co-president and general manager John Thorrington said. "He brought humility and a winning mentality that helped elevate everyone around him." Giroud has been heavily linked with a move to Ligue 1 club Lille, according to several media reports in France. Giroud helped LAFC reach the 2024 Leagues Cup final, where he scored his first goal for the club. He also scored in the 2024 US Open Cup final, helping LAFC win the trophy for the first time. "I want to thank all of the fans, my teammates and the staff at LAFC for making this an enjoyable stop in my career," Giroud said. "I am happy to have played a part in the success of LAFC." Giroud has scored nearly 300 goals in more than 700 club matches, winning major trophies at Montpellier, Arsenal, Chelsea and AC Milan. The 2018 World Cup winner leads France's all-time scoring charts with 57 goals.
