Ronald Acuna Jr. is in his eighth MLB season, having debuted in 2018 and immediately dominating opposing pitching on the way to National League Rookie of the Year honors.

Since then, despite suffering multiple ACL tears, he has established himself as one of baseball's most exciting talents—capturing the NL MVP Award in 2023 and earning five All-Star Game selections. He also etched his name into the record books that year, becoming the first player ever to record at least 40 home runs and 70 stolen bases in a single season.
The 27-year-old superstar got off to a scorching start in 2025, though his team has endured a disappointing year, decimated by injuries to multiple key contributors.

During Saturday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals, the Braves announced that third baseman Austin Riley left the contest early with lower abdominal tightness and was placed on the injured list Sunday morning with a right abdominal strain.

To reintroduce power, Atlanta dropped Acuna two spots in the batting order to third—the spot Riley occupied throughout July and the lowest slot Acuna has hit all year.
Through 43 games this season, Acuna has already hit 11 home runs, swiped four bases and is batting .333 with a 1.040 OPS.
Despite his individual excellence, the Braves sit at 41–52, ten games back of the third NL wild-card spot. Consequently, Acuna's name has surfaced in trade rumors, but Atlanta's front office has made it emphatically clear that they have no intention of trading their franchise cornerstone.

Fever Coach Stephanie White Addresses Team 'Ego' With Candid Statement

Fever Coach Stephanie White Addresses Team 'Ego' With Candid Statement originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Indiana Fever got back to winning ways on Friday with a 99-82 victory against the Atlanta Dream. It was a much-needed bounce-back victory for the Fever, who were coming off a deflating 80-61 blowout loss at home to the Golden State Valkyries two days prior. Advertisement It was a concerted team effort from Indiana on Friday, as four players scored in double figures, including Caitlin Clark (12 points, nine assists), who played in just her second game back following a lengthy injury spell. Kelsey Mitchell led the way in the scoring department with a team-high 25 points, while Aliyah Boston (19 points, six rebounds, career-high eight assists) and Sophie Cunningham (16 points, 10 rebounds off the bench) also chipped in. This is exactly the type of team performance that head coach Stephanie White has been looking for from her players. In a recent statement, the Fever shot-caller addressed the 'ego' on the squad and how everyone on the team has worked hard to set this aside for the greater good. 'Every single person you know that's on our team, coaches, players, everybody, there's an ego that gets you to this point, right?' White said, via Chloe Peterson of Indy Star. 'But to be able to sacrifice that ego and have enough humility to make it about the we over the me, sometimes that's a learned behavior, and some people have it naturally. Advertisement Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White watches her team in action. © Grace Smith/IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images 'And we've worked really, really hard, and they've worked really hard to be able to, no matter what the circumstance, maintain that and be intentional about that.' White did not deny that ego is present in every player on the team, which is also the case for the coaches. However, White is proud to say that this squad has been able to align toward a single objective, and the players have shown that they are willing to put the betterment of the team before their individual goals. Indiana will be able to put all this to the test again when it returns to action in its next game. This comes in the form of a highly anticipated matchup against Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Sunday. Indiana Fever Fans Cannot Hide Excitement After Seeing Caitlin Clark's Passes in Slow-Mo originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Caitlin Clark struggled with her shot again on Sunday as the Indiana Fever took on Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings in a much-anticipated showdown at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Advertisement The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year shot just 4-of-12 from the field and 2-of-7 from beyond the arc, which now has her shooting 13-of-41 overall in three games since she returned from a two-week injury spell. Clark finished with 14 points, three rebounds, five steals and a block in 25 minutes of action as she helped lead Indiana to a convincing 102-83 victory. There's no denying, however, that the highlight of the former Iowa star's performance was the 13 dimes she dished out in what was an absolute passing clinic. The Fever just had to flex Clark's playmaking showcase by posting a highlight reel video of her passes in slow-motion. 'chef's kiss 🤌 Caitlin Clark's passing in phantom 🎶🎧' the team posted on Instagram. Advertisement Fever fans could not hide their excitement after witnessing Clark's elite passing skills on full display. 'Caitlin is amazing 🔥' a comment on Instagram read. 'Absolute best passer in the WNBA and it's not even close,' another said. 'She's a wizard,' a supporter wrote. Clark hasn't been shooting the ball well since her return from a lengthy injury spell, but she's making up for it by distributing the ball to the rest of her teammates. Her 13 dimes on Sunday brought up her total to 28 over the last three games. Advertisement This speaks volumes about how Clark's ability to remain effective despite her struggles from the field.
