From Edika Yusof To Mas Idayu: Local Celeb Couples Who Recently Split

Hype Malaysia07-05-2025
They say April showers bring May flowers, but we're getting some unfortunate news from the Malaysian entertainment industry just as May comes along. Despite the slew of recent baby news, there are a handful of celebrities who recently called it quits with their partners, or at least tried to.
Recently, actor Edika Yusof and singer Mas Idayu found themselves on local news sites following reports of their divorce from their respective partners. Meanwhile, singer Nora Ariffin is facing marital problems and wants to split from her husband as soon as possible. Here's more about the stars and their recent relationship statuses:
Edika Yusof & Nor Hidayah Yusri
After 22 years of marriage, actor Edika Yusof and his now-former wife, Nor Hidayah Yusri, have officially divorced. The pair called it quits on 5th May 2025 (Monday), with Hidayah alleging the reason for the split was because Edika was abusive during their marriage. The actor denied the claims but said he agreed to divorce his wife as they have been having marital problems for years. The two tied the knot on 16th January 2004 and have two children together.
Mas Idayu & Muhamad Sufian Che Isa
After much speculation, singer Mas Idayu confirmed that she and her husband, TV3 executive producer Muhamad Sufian Che Isa, have officially called it quits. Rumours of the two ending their 3-year marriage came about last week, but the pair confirmed the news on 5th May 2025. Even more shocking, the two divorced back in March 2025. Sufian said the couple ended things on good terms and remained good friends. Mas Idayu and Sufian tied the knot in 2022.
BONUS: Datuk Nora Ariffin & Dr Rushdi Ramli
While singer Datuk Nora Ariffin is trying to divorce her husband, Dr Rushdi Ramli, it seems the latter isn't letting the marriage end yet. The couple appeared at the Syariah court on 6th May 2025 (Tuesday) to settle the divorce, but Rushdi wouldn't divorce his wife. The couple will appear in court next month for the next divorce hearing. The couple tied the knot in 2021, with Nora being Rushdi's second wife as he's still married to his first wife.

#SHOWBIZ: Actress Sophia Albarakbah brushes off rumoured 'tension' with Bella Astillah

PUTRAJAYA: Actress Sophia Albarakbah has dismissed claims of being mocked by Bella Astillah during an awards ceremony, calling the moment simply a matter of delivery. The actress, 32, was asked about the incident that occurred while receiving the Selebriti Feminin Terhangat award from Bella and her co-presenter, Syed Saddiq, at Anugerah Melodi Terhangat 2025 last night. "I don't feel like I was being mocked. Maybe it's just her way of saying it because she does know me. It's her delivery, that's all," Sophia said. She added that she didn't take to heart the comments from netizens who believed they saw 'tension' between the two women on stage. According to Sophia, she didn't notice anything amiss and was focused on receiving her award. "It's okay because I'm in the same industry. For me, I'm still in the process of understanding why I won. I'm still surprised, actually," she said. Anugerah Melodi Terhangat 2025 took place at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) and was broadcast live on TV3 and streamed exclusively on Tonton. Bella, who was supposed to be interviewed after winning the Selebriti Couple Goals Terhangat award with Syed Saddiq, chose not to enter the designated interview room. This forced media representatives to chase her and Syed Saddiq as they left, further fuelling speculation of a rift between the two celebrities. This speculation is rooted in past events. Sophia's name was previously in the headlines after Bella alleged that Sophia was the third party in her marriage to Aliff Aziz around January 2023. Bella had also uploaded a screenshot showing Sophia apologising and wanting to rectify the situation regarding the allegations of interfering in the couple's marriage. Bella and Aliff first married in 2016 and officially divorced for the second time on June 13, 2024. They have two children, Ayden Adrian and Ara Adreanna.

Senior citizens to shine in ‘Voice in the Shadows' Concert

KOTA KINABALU (Aug 3): A wave of nostalgia will sweep through Sabah as 70 senior citizens from across Malaysia take the stage for the Voice in the Shadows – Our Concert, a Mandarin, Hokkien and Cantonese singing competition celebrating veteran performers. The event will be held on August 17 at the Putera Ballroom in Bukit Padang, with a 4D stage setup to recreate a mini concert experience. A preliminary round will take place on August 16 to select the finalists. Organising chairperson Datuk Eliza Goh said during a press conference that participants hail from Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia. Adding star power to the event is veteran Malaysian songstress Irene Tan, a former Astro talent, who will be launching her fourth album titled One Seed. The album symbolises her effort to plant a seed for the competition to grow in Sabah. 'One of the goals is to promote tourism in Sabah, especially to senior citizens from Kuala Lumpur who have never been here,' said Eliza. 'We'll also be showcasing Sabah's beautiful tourist destinations to our guests.' The event also aims to foster closer interaction between participants from Sabah, West Malaysia and Sarawak. Notably, several businessmen — including a Musang King plantation owner — are expected to attend. Eliza shared that proceeds from the sale of 40 to 50 banquet tables will go toward helping Primary Six students who have excelled academically continue their education at private independent schools. 'All profits will support underprivileged pupils and will be managed by the Kian Kok Alumni Association,' she added. Also present at the press conference were co-organiser Dato' Tan Seng Huat and Irene Tan. The event is expected to be officiated by Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Christina Liew.
