Popular Edinburgh local serves up brand-new look and name
A revamped bar and upgraded dining area have breathed new life into the pub, the ideal spot for a pint with pals, a meal with the family, or after work drinks with your colleagues. Whether enjoying great food or exploring a wide selection of drinks, everyone can relax in the new O'Neill's Edinburgh's warm and inviting atmosphere.
The pub has long been the go-to in Edinburgh for live music and sport, and now there's even more to shout about. From Monday to Thursday, guests can enjoy live entertainment from 9pm – including a lively pub quiz on Mondays and crowd-favourite karaoke Tuesdays to Thursdays.
The pub also offers a delicious food menu for visitors to enjoy in the easy-going pub. Guests can tuck into all the pub favourites, from mix-and-match small plates such as Drunken Mushrooms, Crispy Chicken Tenders and Dirty Tato Pops to gourmet burgers including the Notorious P.I.G or vegan Shiitake Mushroom, as well as an array of craft beers to try.
For early birds, O'Neill's Edinburgh is now serving breakfast from 11am daily – featuring proper Irish breakfasts and brunchy favourites to start your day right. Whether it's the Hearty Irish or a cheeky Bacon & Egg Bap, you'll find something to soak up the night before (or fuel the day ahead).
Sport lovers are well catered for with BT Sport and Sky Sports across the screens – whether it's Premier League, Six Nations or GAA action, you'll never miss a match. Meanwhile, the newly refurbished function room is perfect for all sorts of celebrations – from birthdays and weddings to student socials and Christmas parties. With an upgraded sound system, private bar and space for up to 40 guests, it's ideal for raising a glass (or two). The function room will be available for hire to the public from September onwards once the Edinburgh Fringe Festival has ended.
And yes – your furry friend is welcome too. Dogs are allowed in the bar area until 9pm and can enjoy water and treats on request. It's a proper Irish welcome – four legs or two.
Commenting on the pub's new look, general manager, Ryan Anderson, said: 'As a cornerstone of Edinburgh's nightlife, we're delighted to have given the pub a much need refresh and can't wait to share the exciting changes with our guests. We're looking forward to continuing to deliver the great atmosphere we're known for.'
'Whether you're stopping by for a pint and a bite with friends at lunch or looking to dance the night away on the weekend, our pub is the perfect destination.'
O'Neill's Edinburgh will also be changing its opening times as it will now be open from 11am-1am Monday to Saturday and 11am-11pm on Sundays. The team looks forward to welcoming guests – old and new – for a pint, a bite and plenty of banter.

Sky offers free upgrades to Glass Air TVs but only until this week's deadline
Sky is giving away an upgrade to Sky Glass shoppers that saves more than £70, but the deadline to claim it is fast approaching. Sky is enticing Brits to upgrade their smart TVs by offering a free upgrade on its new Sky Glass device. For a limited time, anyone ordering the 43" Sky Glass Air will receive a free upgrade with 12 months of Ultra HD channels at no extra cost. Typically costing an extra £6 per month, this free bonus delivers a crisper, more vibrant and higher quality image, along with immersive Dolby Atmos sound, across selected Sky Entertainment, Sky Cinema and Sky Sports channels. The deal provides a £72 saving compared to the regular price, but it's only available for a short time, as customers must claim the deal by Wednesday, July 30, to benefit from the free boost. The Sky Glass Air was first launched in June as a budget-friendly and slimmer version of the Sky Glass Gen 2. For those unfamiliar with the Glass range, the device is Sky's own-brand smart TV that includes Sky channels and streaming apps built in, eliminating the need for a satellite dish or even a Sky box. Prices begin at £6 per month for the Sky Glass Air, less than half that of the £14 Gen 2. Despite its lower price tag, the Glass Air still features a 4K HDR Quantum Dot screen and Dolby Audio speaker system, with other notable features including hands-free voice control, intelligent and personalised recommendations, and a straightforward plug-in-and-play setup, reports the Express. It's important to note that the £6 monthly fee covers only the television itself and must be combined with a Sky TV and Netflix package. These start from £15 per month for the Essential TV bundle, which offers more than 100 channels, including Sky Atlantic, as well as Netflix and Discovery+ subscriptions. There's also the choice to add more than 35 additional channels, such as Sky Documentaries, Sky Comedy and National Geographic, with the £22 Ultimate TV bundle. Choosing this package along with the 43" Sky Glass Air results in a total monthly cost of £28, plus a one-off upfront charge of £20 to get everything set up. Buyers should also consider the duration of the plan; the Sky Glass Air element run for 48 months, while the TV and Netflix package is significantly shorter at 24 months. The TV is available in three colour options: Carbon Grey, Cotton White or Sea Green. However, there are numerous other alternatives for those who prefer to pay in full, including Amazon's 20% discount on the 43" Samsung Crystal UHD 4K Smart TV. This top-selling Samsung TV on the site has been marked down from £299 to £239 – a saving of £60. Meanwhile, Virgin Media's Summer of Sports sale has resulted in price reductions of up to £336 on its TV, Sky Sports and fibre broadband packages. The largest saving is on the Biggest Combo bundle, which includes eight Sky Sports channels, over 200 regular channels, Sky Cinema, Netflix, and 516Mbps broadband. However, for those who have chosen to stick with Sky Glass, there have been some glowing reviews on the Sky Community forum. One user said: "I can't fault it. It was very easy to assemble, and account syncing to my Glass downstairs was straightforward. "The 55" TV is still a heavy piece of equipment compared to the numerous Samsung TVs I've had. Picture settings on auto seem suffice at this stage and the sound initially is totally different from the Glass downstairs – the speakers are at the back so it just projects differently, not in a bad way I might add. Speech is clear and it's certainly loud enough." Another said: "This is a great TV that's perfect for the average TV viewer considering subscribing to Sky whilst seeking a good audio-visual experience at an affordable price. It's good as a standalone TV and works equally well for those who have already invested in a decent audio system." However, the same user also noted it may not be for everyone, adding: "It's perfectly suitable for casual gamers, although hardcore gamers would likely want to look elsewhere for a proper gaming TV to connect their gaming console to."

Jennings later took to X to double down on his comments, implying that wearing a kit could be a sign of being a fake fan. He said: "I'm all for a scarf or a precisely placed pin-badge. "But if you're over 15 and you're wearing a club shirt it's quite often the biggest tell-[tale] sign that you actually have no idea who your club are or what they represent." Millions of Sky Sports fans warned over huge change to their TV subscription starting today
MILLIONS of Sky Sports viewers are being urged to check their TV guides today as a major reshuffle hits the channel line-up. The shake-up hits customers across the UK and Ireland from today, July 28, with rebrands, renames and major channel moves across Sky's satellite, Glass and Stream services. 3 Sky has confirmed that Sky Sports The Lions (Satellite 408/865 – Sky Glass/Stream 408) will revert to its original name, Sky Sports Action/ Sky Sports Action HD, after a temporary rebrand. Sky 2025 Recap (Satellite 302 – Sky Glass/Stream 302) will also be temporarily renamed Favourites HD. Meanwhile, a wide reshuffle of the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) will see many popular channels move to new positions. In the UK on satellite, Sky Sports+ HD is moving from 412 to 404. The broadcaster routinely makes changes to its channel line-up, particularly to reflect seasonal sports coverage or temporary promotions. Earlier this year, Sky Fantasy was reverted back to Sky Family (Satellite 306/850 – Sky Glass/Stream 306) after a seasonal rebrand. Sky Hits HD (Satellite 303 – Sky Glass/Stream 303) was renamed Sky Originals HD, and Sky Superheroes (Satellite 302 – Sky Glass/Stream 302) switched to Sky 5* Movies HD. In previous reshuffles, several fan favourites have also disappeared completely. Eurosport channels were removed as their content merged with TNT Sports. Pop Max, a children's channel, and Sky History +1 have also been axed. Fans were left disappointed when ITVBe was dropped in June, although many of its popular reality shows have since moved to a new home. Virgin Media recently axed several of its legacy music and entertainment channels as it prioritises on-demand content. Fans say 'you can't pretend it isn't rigged' as Carabao Cup draw hands out play-off final repeat Customers were surprised when Virgin's Comedy Central Extra and MTV Base were quietly removed from the line-up. Freeview has also caused frustration after dropping BBC News HD in some regions, and reducing coverage of channels like Forces TV and PBS America. ITV made waves when it merged its standalone channels like CITV into its new streaming service ITVX, effectively removing the long-standing kids' channel from live schedules. Viewers are now being urged to recheck their guides to avoid missing any major sporting events or live matches. More channel closures 'inevitable' An industry expert told The Sun that more channel closures are likely in 2025 and beyond. "This is inevitable, more broadcasters will cull broadcast/linear TV channels as viewers are flocking to streaming services," Paolo Pescatore from PP Foresight said. "The big TV switch off is around the corner, with all programming set to be delivered via the internet. "Viewers are now spoilt for choice with how and where they watch the TV shows they love across a range of connected devices. "To respond, broadcasters need to be prepared and work more closely with telecom providers to ensure a seamless experience for users." Image credit: Getty 3
