Three women charged under Terrorism Act after van driven into fence of defence factory
The incident happened at the Leonardo facility in Crewe Road North last Tuesday.
The three women - aged 31, 34 and 42 - who were earlier arrested under the Terrorism Act have been charged and are due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.
Police Scotland's Counter Terrorism Unit is leading the investigation and enquiries are ongoing.
Officers are appealing for information to trace the movements of a blue Ford Transit van in the Gorgie Road area last Monday and prior to the incident last Tuesday.
They are also keen to trace the movements of a white Honda CR-Z on those days. It was recovered from a car park in Gorgie Road following the incident.
Direct action campaign group Shut Down Leonardo - which said it aims to target aerospace, defence and security company Leonardo's headquarters in Edinburgh - posted a photo of a van.
It showed police on the roof of a vehicle, which has a Palestine flag hanging off the back.
Shut Down Leonardo claims the factory makes components for Israel's F-35 fighter jets.
A Leonardo spokesperson told the PA news agency: "Leonardo UK is subject to UK government export controls and does not supply equipment direct to Israel.
"The right to peaceful protest is an important principle in our society, however, aggressive and violent activity should have no place in protest.
"The intimidation of our people, who work hard to support the security and defence of the UK, is not acceptable."

Tragedy Strikes Princes William And Harry's Family As Young Cousin Found Dead
In a devastating twist that's rocked the royal family, a 20-year-old cousin of Prince William and Prince Harry has been found dead at her family home. The heartbreaking discovery has cast a dark shadow over the Windsors once again, raising painful memories of past losses. Details surrounding the incident continue to emerge, as an inquest has officially been opened. Princes Harry And William's Cousin Has Tragically Passed Away Rosie Roche, the granddaughter of Princess Diana's uncle, was discovered lifeless by her mother and sister on July 14 at their home in Norton, near Malmesbury, Wiltshire. According to police reports presented at the Wiltshire and Swindon coroner's court, a firearm was found near her body. Rosie had reportedly been packing for a trip with friends before the tragic incident unfolded. Per The Sun, Area coroner Grant Davies confirmed that authorities "have deemed the death as non-suspicious and there was no third-party involvement." The inquest has been formally opened but adjourned until October 25 as the investigation continues. Rosie was pursuing a degree in English Literature at Durham University, where she was described as a bright and beloved student. A university spokeswoman issued a solemn statement, saying she "will be sorely missed." Rosie Roche's Obituary The Yorkshire Post shared an obituary for the deceased. It read, "Roche Rosie Jeanne Burke died on Monday, 14th July 2025." The obituary continued, "Darling daughter of Hugh and Pippa, incredible sister to Archie and Agatha, Granddaughter to Derek and Rae Long. Private family funeral." It concluded, "A memorial service will be held at a later date." Princes William And Harry Face Another Personal Loss These back-to-back tragedies follow another devastating event in the royal extended family. On February 25, 2024, British financier Thomas Kingston, husband to Lady Gabriella Windsor and former boyfriend of Pippa Middleton, died at age 45 from a catastrophic head injury. A firearm was also found nearby at his parents' home in the Cotswolds. At a pre-inquest review, Kingston's death was described as "impulsive" and "unexpected," according to the BBC. In December, Lady Gabriella, who is a second cousin to King Charles, broke her silence at Gloucestershire Coroner's Court and revealed intimate details of her husband's final days. In her emotional witness statement, Lady Gabriella, 43, shared that she believed his "impulsive action" may have been influenced by medication he had been taking in the weeks leading up to his death, as reported by The Telegraph. Despite the intense media interest, both Rosie's immediate family and a spokesperson for Prince William have chosen to remain silent, declining to offer any public comments regarding the incident. Prince William's Absence Casts Shadow Over Charles And Harry's Quiet Reconciliation Efforts The death of Prince William and Harry's relative comes amid news that the latter's efforts to reconcile with their father were done in his older brother's absence. A recent private meeting between senior aides to King Charles and Prince Harry reignited talk of the royal reconciliation. While the confidential session, held at the Royal Over-Seas League in London, involved key representatives from both sides, Prince William was notably absent, a detail that royal experts say is anything but accidental. According to royal analyst Ian Pelham Turner, William's exclusion may be a calculated move by the monarch himself. 'The important issue is that Prince William and his representatives were not invited,' he told Fox News Digital. "I feel that this was a warning shot across William's bows that Charles is king – not him." He added, "It may also be a stark warning that Charles will decide what happens during his reign, not William." Prince Harry's team, including his chief of staff Meredith Maines and communications head Liam Maguire, reportedly flew in from California to attend the quiet gathering with King Charles' aide Tobyn Andreae. The meeting comes as Charles continues to battle cancer and seeks to mend strained family ties, particularly with his youngest son, whom he reportedly hopes to see more often along with his grandchildren. Prince William's Distrust Could Undermine King Charles' Hopes For Peace Despite King Charles' apparent openness to healing the rift, Prince William remains a significant roadblock. Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams noted that William likely knew of the meeting but opted to keep his team out, a decision underscoring his enduring distrust of the Sussexes. 'The king is still battling cancer and is in his late 70s,' Fitzwilliams said. 'He wants a relationship with his grandchildren, whom he has hardly met. He is also temperamentally more accommodating than William. But [William] cannot trust the Sussexes. They must know it.' This tension poses a serious threat to any long-term peace between the brothers. Fitzwilliams warned that allowing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex back into royal events could provoke backlash from loyal royal supporters, and that any reconciliation 'would come at a price.' British broadcaster Helena Chard also acknowledged the emotional complexity of the situation, particularly given the king's ongoing health struggles. 'King Charles will always love his son, and, in light of the king's ongoing cancer treatment, it could help tidy up the messy, fractured relationship,' she said. Still, she cautioned that without William's direct involvement, peace may remain elusive. 'Life is too short for battles,' Chard remarked, 'However, without Prince William's inclusion in the rapprochement, I can't see a positive outcome.' Solve the daily Crossword

Husband who stabbed wife to death as she pushed baby in pram to be sentenced
A controlling husband who stabbed his wife to death as she pushed their baby in a pram after tracking her to a women's refuge is to be sentenced on Tuesday. Habibur Masum, 27, was found guilty of murdering Kulsuma Akter in a 'ferocious' knife attack in broad daylight before leaving her bleeding to death and calmly walking away, leaving their seven-month-old son behind. Mr Justice Cotter will set the minimum jail term for Masum's life sentence during a hearing at Bradford Crown Court. Jurors at his trial heard Masum followed Ms Akter to a refuge in Bradford where she had been staying to escape him after he held a knife to her throat at their home in Greater Manchester. After finding her through her phone location, Masum loitered in streets around the hostel and sent her messages threatening to kill her family members if she did not return to him, before trying to lure her out by sending her fake messages from a local GP practice pretending their son had an appointment. The court heard Ms Akter eventually felt safe enough to leave the refuge on April 6 last year after Masum updated his Facebook page falsely claiming to be in Spain. As she was walking in the city centre with a friend, pushing her baby in a pram, Masum confronted her, the trial heard. CCTV footage of the attack captured Ms Akter's screams as Masum stabbed her at least 25 times. Jurors heard he then calmly walked through Bradford city centre and was seen on CCTV grinning as he got on a bus, believing at that point he was getting away. Masum travelled almost 200 miles south to Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, and was arrested in the early hours of April 9 in a car park near Stoke Mandeville Hospital, where he had gone to be treated for 'lockjaw'. The trial heard the relationship between Masum and Ms Akter was 'an abusive relationship characterised by his jealousy, possessiveness and controlling behaviour'. The couple met and married in Bangladesh, and came to the UK in 2022 after he obtained a student visa and enrolled on a Masters course to study marketing. They moved into a house in Oldham together in September 2022. On November 23 2023, he became jealous over a 'completely innocuous' message Ms Akter received from a male colleague and held a knife to her throat. He was arrested and Ms Akter decided to leave him, being moved to the Bradford refuge by Oldham social services in January 2024.
