TALANOA - with Father Epeli Qimaqima.

SBS Australia22-05-2025
Born in Nausori, Viti Levu, Fiji, Father Epeli started his working life as a primary school teacher, first in Fiji, then at an independent school in Dural, New South Wales. It was there that he finally answered the call that had been nagging at him for a long while, and he entered the seminary in Homebush to train for the priesthood. He told me that most of his ministry was under the late Pope Francis, someone he has utmost respect and admiration for, and who set examples he tries to follow in his own ministry. A lot of this 'talanoa' is about the Church in the modern world, and how it remains relevant to the needs of the faithful in Australia and the Pacific.
"The Gospel has Christianised Culture," he says.
