Japan calls for strict punishment after attack on Japanese in China
"We strongly ask (the Chinese government) to strictly and fairly punish the suspect, prevent similar incidents and ensure the safety of Japanese nationals," the top government spokesman said during a news conference.
According to Hayashi, the Japanese Consulate-General in Shanghai was informed by Chinese authorities on Friday that the suspect had been detained and would be punished under the law.
The latest incident occurred Thursday, leaving a Japanese woman injured.
In the same city, another Japanese woman and her child were attacked by a knife-wielding man in June last year.

Ukrainian deputy PM hopes for more support from Japan to rebuild
Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka has spoken at a forum in Tokyo where he expressed his hope for further support from Japan in rebuilding his country. The two nations have already exchanged more than 80 cooperation documents on Ukraine's reconstruction. At the event, 29 new documents were unveiled, covering areas such as agricultural development and debris removal. It is estimated that it will cost 524 billion dollars over the next decade for Ukraine's reconstruction. The Ukrainian government wants to attract investments from Japanese businesses.
