Gtech hedge trimmer is £70 off and makes gardening 'effortless'
Gtech is offering shoppers more than 30% off a cordless hedge trimmer that's said to make gardening 'effortless'. The Gtech LHT50 Lightweight Hedge Trimmer can be reduced from £219.99 to £149.99 with the discount code BX64.
This saves £70 from the original price if ordering before July 31. The deal comes just in time for Brits looking to spruce up their shrubbery in time for summer, allowing them to maintain a sculpted garden or keep things tidy without it feeling like a chore.
The cordless LHT50 is said to be Gtech's 'most effortless trimmer', designed for those tired of struggling with cables, heavy tools and step ladders. It's described as being 'super light' and 'surprisingly powerful', boasting the same motor as the original model yet a third lighter at 2.14kg.
It can reach up to 10ft and has seven adjustable head positions, with a 140° rotating blade enabling easier sculpting of every part of a hedge from the top, sides and base. The trimmer has an 'ultra-sharp', 315mm carbon steel blade is capable of cutting even thicker hedges up to 14mm, while a safety switch can help avoid any nasty accidents.
Despite being cable-free, the device can run for up to 60 minutes from a single charge of its removable battery pack, with its handy LED display showing the remaining power so you're never caught short. The Gtech LHT50 can be carried easily around any outdoor space with the included safety harness, which combines with an ergonomic design to ensure comfort during use – even during longer periods.
For gardeners tackling larger hedge work, the new Bosch Advanced Electric Hedge Trimmer, £190, can cut thicker branches up to 34mm, but is not extendable. A cheaper alternative is the £170.99 Ryobi 18V ONE+ HP Cordless Hedge Trimmer, however the battery and charger are not included with this tool and must be bought separately.
The Gtech LHT50 Lightweight Hedge Trimmer has earned an impressive 4.6-star rating after 838 reviews – 777 of which are four or five stars. Buyers have hailed it as 'easy to use' and 'perfect for any age group'.
One satisfied shopper says: 'This is truly a lightweight hedge trimmer but with a heavy weight cutting action. I needed a lightweight trimmer to keep my daughter's hedge under control and the last one I used was very good but really hurt my back and arms. We had the hedge reduced in height but I found I still required a longer reach to cut the hedge as the width was still pretty large. This certainly fits the bill.'
Another says: 'This lightweight hedge trimmer is perfect for any age group or those who have difficulty handling a heavier model. No awkward cables to get in the way or accidentally cut through so it is much safer than one with an electric cable. The battery charges easily and gives plenty of power to cut even a long hedge. Also, as it extends, often no ladder is required.'
Despite hailing the LHT50 as 'perfect', this review points out that it may not suit every garden, saying: 'Perfect for small jobs for most people. Cannot cut thick stems but does [a] good job. Very light to use and good battery life.'
This five-star review says: 'This light weight hedge trimmer is easy to use and handle. I'm in my 70's and had no problem using it at full stretch.'
While another says: 'Fantastic. Highly recommend this product especially if your priority is lightness. [I] needed a hedge trimmer to replace a very heavy pole trimmer that is light yet could tackle a long holly hedge and a separate Leylandii hedge. This product is brilliant – very light but cut both hedges excellently. It also had a good charge life with two lights showing after one hour of use.'
The Gtech LHT50 Lightweight Hedge Trimmer is available for £149.99 with the discount code BX64.

Late change at British Grand Prix as F1 stewards hand out fresh penalty
A late change to the grid for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone was confirmed on Sunday with one team confirming engine changes to one of their cars during parc ferme There was a late change to the starting grid ahead of the British Grand Prix. That was caused by one team deciding to make changes to the engine of one of their cars, which meant it would not be allowed on the grid and must instead start the Silverstone race from the pit lane. A thrilling qualifying session saw Max Verstappen deny the British home heroes pole position at their home event. And Oscar Piastri also got the better of them, meaning the best that the Brits could do was the second row which was taken by Lando Norris in third ahead of George Russell. Lewis Hamilton was on track for a shot at pole until a mistake at the final corner cost him and meant he will start the race fifth, one place ahead of Charles Leclerc in the other Ferrari. All that came after a dramatic Q1 which was stopped for a time after a crash. Franco Colapinto lost control of his Alpine at that final corner of the Silverstone circuit and slipped off track and into the gravel. Not a great deal of damage was done to his car, but it was beached in the gravel and so qualifying was red-flagged so it could be recovered. But that was the end of the Argentine's afternoon and meant he was 20th and dead last on the timesheets. But instead of lining up at the back of the grid, he would instead start from the pit lane on Sunday after Alpine opted to give him some new engine parts. That is the standard punishment for making such changes to the car after qualifying, when parc ferme restrictions are in force. It means there were only 19 cars set to start on the grid, though it was certainly not the only penalty which affected the outcome of qualifying. Oliver Bearman produced one of the best qualifying performances of his short F1 career to date, putting his Haas eighth on the grid. Except he was bumped all the way back down to 18th when his whopping 10-place grid penalty, earned for speeding up and crashing under red flags in final practice earlier that day, was applied. And Kimi Antonelli was also dropped down to 10th on the grid from his initial qualifying position of seventh, because of the three-place penalty he was given a week ago in Austria for crashing into Verstappen on the first lap of that race at the Red Bull Ring. Colapinto has yet to score a point since being elevated into a race seat by Alpine, replacing Jack Doohan after the Miami Grand Prix in early May. He was initially given five races to prove himself but that period has been extended, with this weekend's Silverstone event the sixth race he has driven in. Alpine boss Flavio Briatore has indicated he will stick with the Argentine for now but will want to see points being scored. Alpine are known to have been in discussions with other drivers of late, including Valtteri Bottas who is a reserve at Mercedes this year having lost his previous race seat at Sauber.
