Door opens for Liverpool to sign world-class winger

Now they have added even more firepower to the squad and have upgraded Slot's options in several areas. Florian Wirtz has the potential to give even more ammunition in attack alongside Mohamed Salah.
On the wings, the speed and energy of Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez will make the Reds even more unpredictable.
Meanwhile, Giorgi Mamardashvili's arrival alongside Freddie Woodman and Armin Pecsi will push Alisson to become even better as the club's no.1 goalkeeper. Mamardashvili after all is a real threat to his position as the club's first choice.
On top of that, more arrivals are expected. Liverpool want a no.9 and at this stage it looks very likely that the no.9 they will sign could become Hugo Ekitike.
But he won't be the only attacker coming in.
Several other Liverpool players face uncertain futures at the club. Darwin Nunez is still open to leaving the Reds. It remains to be seen what happens to Federico Chiesa.
Meanwhile, the likeliest player at the moment to leave is probably Luis Diaz. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the Colombian plans to leave the club this summer and Bayern Munich are accelerating a move to sign him.
With Diaz on the move, Liverpool will need to find a replacement for him and it looks like the doors are now slowly opening for them to sign a world-class winger.
One player who has been on Michael Edwards' radar for close to a decade is Rodrygo. Around eight years ago when the Brazilian was just 16-years-old, he turned down a move to Anfield.
Back then, Rodrygo was holding out for his 'dream' move to Real Madrid, which in the end came to fruition. But now that dream is facing a major obstacle.
According to Spanish journalist, Anton Meana speaking on El Larguero, Rodrygo needs to leave Real Madrid. The Brazilian is no longer considered a serious option in Xabi Alonso's squad and the doors have opened for him to make a move to the Premier League.
The reporter also claimed that Arsenal are no longer an option for Rodrygo but Chelsea could still be in the conversation for him.
Meana also mentioned how Diaz's move to Bayern will 'open the door' for Rodrygo to join Liverpool. And it seems like the club's pursuit and move will hinge on that factor.
Diaz, at this stage, looks increasingly likely to leave so the doors will open. Whether Liverpool can strike an agreement remains to be seen.
It's definitely a move that is worth keeping a close eye on. There's always the danger of Chelsea hijacking the deal, too.

West Ham sign Walker-Peters on free transfer
West Ham have signed defender Kyle Walker-Peters on a free transfer following his departure from Southampton. The 28-year-old full-back, who has two England caps, has joined the Hammers on a three-year contract. "He is a player I've always thought highly of and been impressed by whenever he has faced one of my teams," said West Ham manager Graham Potter. McInnes praises Kyziridis for goalscoring debut
Head coach Derek McInnes was encouraged by the goalscoring debut of winger Alexandros Kyziridis in Hearts' four-goal Premier Sports Cup win at Stirling. The 24-year-old Greek player set up Craig Halkett's headed opener and scored himself following Alan Forrest's cross. "You see what he is, I think he's capable of moments when he holds his width and he's really incisive and makes his mind up early," McInnes told Premier Sports. "Like a lot of wide players, decision-making is where they are judged. I thought he did a lot of good, considering it was his first game. "He was in the right area to score a goal. He should have been in the right area before that to score another goal. But he did some good things." Fellow summer signing Claudio Braga scored a diving header before Kyziridis put Hearts three up by the break, but McInnes was expecting more in the second half before Halkett headed in his second goal late on. "We played some good stuff in the first half, but I'd like us to be better than that for long spells," added McInnes, whose side all but sealed their place in the second round.

Residents urged to support national cycle race
Warwickshire residents are being urged to take to the streets to support a national cycling race returning to the county after a five-year break. Stage four of the Lloyds Tour of Britain Men will visit the area for a third time on 5 September. Competitors will set off from Atherstone in north Warwickshire and wind their way south, finishing with a 700m (2,296ft) climb to the top of Burton Dassett Hills Country Park. The race begins in East Suffolk on Tuesday 2 September. A detailed route map will be published later this month. The race last came to Warwickshire in 2019, with Dutch cyclist Mathieu van der Poel crowned the local stage winner. The county council is running a competition for primary school children to design a flag that will start the local leg, and a trophy to be presented to the stage winner. Interim leader George Finch said the race's return was a "fantastic boost" for the county, taking in North Warwickshire, Nuneaton and Bedworth, Rugby, Warwick and Stratford-on-Avon districts. "I hope the people of Warwickshire will take to the streets and the hills, as they always have, to give the Tour the support it deserves," he added. Jonathan Day, managing director of British Cycling Events, said Warwickshire had a "long and proud history" of hosting the Tour of Britain. It has also welcomed the women's race five times in the last decade, and the men's and women's Commonwealth Games road races in August 2022. "We are delighted to be returning, especially with such a challenging finale at Burton Dassett Hills Country Park, that will draw spectators from right across the heart of England," Mr Day added. The opening leg of the Tour runs between Woodbridge and Southwold, followed by a second stage at Stowmarket. Milton Keynes and Central Bedfordshire will host the third stage on 4 September.
