Lancia Revives Integrale Designation, Could a New Delta Be Next?
Found on the fastest rally-inspired Lancias, including the Delta HF Integrale, the badge has been absent for ages.
While new models are still some ways off, this could be the shot in the arm Lancia needs to return to form, and possibly lead to a new Delta model.
Of all the stars in the Stellantis constellation, few have faded from former glory like Lancia. Once robust enough to claim the world's first production V-6, with the drop-dead Aurelia B20 GT, and no fewer than 11 WRC Manufacturers' Championships, Lancia, for a long time, built nothing more than a subcompact cousin of the Fiat 500 called the Ypsilon. It still makes the Ypsilon, though now on a new platform, and there are finally some signs that things are heating up.
In a fitting tribute to the brand's lineage, exciting news comes hot on the heels of a recent return to the rallying stage. Racing versions of the Ypsilon called the Rally4 HF, and now more recently the Rally6 HF, are bringing back Lancia's stampeding elephant HF badge, and for road cars too. The rally cars are combustion-powered, with small-displacement engines designed to fit the racing regulations.
Stellantis
The electric road-going Ypsilon HF is actually more powerful, with 278 horsepower and 254 pound-feet of torque. That's the same as the Peugeot e-208 Gti or Abarth 600e, as all share Stellantis' e-CMP EV platform.
HF stands for 'High Fidelity,' and its use dates back to a Lancia owner's club before appearing on the machines of the factory racing team and road cars. There's also a level above HF, with the designation Integrale indicating the fastest homologation Lancias made. Now, Lancia says the Integrale designation is coming back.
Stellantis
In the case of the Lancia Delta Integrale, built between 1987 and 1995, buyers got a compact hatchback with turbocharged power and all-wheel drive. It was an Italian forerunner of the upcoming rally battles between the Subaru WRX and the Mitsubishi EVO, and was just as successful as both. These Lancias are very collectible today, never officially available in the United States, but old enough to be imported.
Lancia didn't indicate that a Delta-sized model is returning, but did say that an HF Integrale designation is coming. The company plans to launch a new Gamma flagship model next year, which will be about the same size as a BMW 3-series. At last week's media drive of the Ypsilon HF, Lancia CEO Luca Napolitano said there would be an Integrale version of the Gamma following some time after its introduction. He also mentioned, but did not confirm, a third Lancia model on the way.
Bring a Trailer
The temptation is to go full anti-lag on the speculation and guess that a Delta model might split the size difference between the Ypsilon and Gamma, and that an HF Integrale version would mark the return of a legend. There's no proof of this, only hope, but it's good news at least that Lancia seems to be plotting some growth again.
Meantime, getting your hands on an example of an original Delta Integrale or one of the brand's other HF models—perhaps a Fulvia or Stratos—remains the best possible argument for Lancia continuing as a brand. It built some of the best enthusiast machines out there. Hope springs eternal that it might do so again soon.

Kongsberg Automotive announces cost reduction plan
Kongsberg Automotive (KA) has announced an overhead cost reduction plan that is anticipated to yield annual savings of €15m ($17.67m). The plan, revealed during the first quarter (Q1) presentation in May 2025, aims to enhance KA's financial performance and is in addition to a cost adjustment programme that was announced previously. Around 150 positions will be impacted by this cost reduction initiative. The cost reduction measures are set to be largely completed within the year, although some aspects will continue into Q3 2026. Concurrently, KA is adjusting its direct labour levels in response to a softening market, especially in the European and North American truck segments. This market downturn is largely attributed to US tariffs and broader geopolitical tensions. As a result, market forecasts for the latter half of this year have been revised downwards, falling short of KA's initial expectations. The company plans to closely monitor the situation and will provide further updates in its Q2 presentation on 12 August 2025. Last month, KA appointed Thomas Danbolt as the executive vice president of the Flow Control Systems business area, effective no later than 1 October 2025. Danbolt will operate from KA's facility in Raufoss, Norway. KA secured a new four-year contract in May for its Dog Clutch Actuator, which is tailored for gear-shifting and decoupling in multi-speed transmissions across various vehicle applications. This product will be manufactured at KA's Wuxi facility and supplied to an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) in the electric commercial vehicle segment. The company's product portfolio includes driver and motion control systems, industrial driver interface products, and fluid assemblies. Stellantis Pro One begins Cargo Box BEV production in Italy
Stellantis Pro One, the commercial vehicles division of Stellantis, has announced the start of production for the Cargo Box battery electric vehicle (BEV) at the Atessa plant in Italy. This facility is known for manufacturing Stellantis' Large Vans, such as the Citroën Relay, Fiat Professional Ducato, Peugeot Boxer, and Vauxhall Movano. The Cargo Box BEV has a cargo capacity of 18.3m3. Its interior dimensions measure 4,230mm in length, 2,032mm in width, and 2,150mm in height. Based on the Battery Electric Chassis Cab version, it delivers 410Nm of maximum torque with a power of 200kW (270hp), coupled with a 110kWh battery, allowing for a driving range of up to 323km. For customers requiring additional cargo space, the Cargo Box BEV will also be available in the L4 configuration, which increases the cargo volume to 20.5m3, with an internal length of 4,500mm and a height of 2,300mm. Stellantis Pro One has enhanced the Large Van range by introducing 22kW AC charging as standard, enabling a full charge in six hours, which is half the time required by the former 11kW solution. The Atessa plant features 15km of assembly line production, the 'largest body shop' in the Stellantis network, and a paint shop that adheres to the latest energy and environmental sustainability standards. Capable of producing more than 1,200 different configuration types, the Atessa plant offers a comprehensive production ecosystem with 14 engines, four types of transmission, more than 300 options, and eight van volumes, resulting in more than 2,500 different versions. It is also a hub for Stellantis CustomFit, a conversion and customisation programme that includes partnership with more than 550 certified partners globally. Stellantis Pro One division head Anne Abboud said: 'The launch of the Cargo Box BEV confirms the outstanding journey of this plant dedicated to proactively and quickly meeting the needs of our professional clients, according to the principles of efficiency, maximum quality, and time to market.' Recently, Stellantis has chosen ABB's PixelPaint technology for delivering precision paint finishes for DS Automobiles' new DS N°8 all-electric flagship. UK car market up 6.7% in June, with BEVs up 39%
The UK's new car market grew for the second consecutive month in June, as registrations rose 6.7% to 191,316 units, according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). It was the best June since 2019, helping lift first half performance 3.5% above the same period last year, although the market remains 17.9% behind pre-Covid levels. Once again, the market was driven by fleet activity, though private retail demand grew 5.9%. New petrol registrations declined 4.2% and diesel volumes were flat (+0.2%), meaning their combined share of the market is now just over half (51.6%), with total electrified vehicle registrations (92,571) achieving a 48.5% market share. Registrations of vehicles with plugs rose strongly as battery electric vehicles (BEVs) jumped 39.1% to 47,354 units, equivalent to a quarter (24.8%) of the market, and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) grew 28.8% to 21,382 units. The market for new hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), meanwhile, fell by 8.5% to 23,835 registrations. Across the first six months of 2025 new BEV registrations have risen 34.6% to 224,841 units but, at 21.6% market share, they remain significantly behind the 28% mandated for this year. Moreover, the SMMT said achieving this level of market penetration has required discounts totalling £6.5 billion over the last 18 months. In a recent survey of automotive CEOs carried out for SMMT's new Automotive Business Leaders Barometer, more than half (55%) said they believe the UK is significantly behind plan to meet the 2030 end of sale date for new cars powered solely by combustion engines. Mike Hawes, SMMT Chief Executive, said: 'A second consecutive month of growth for the new car market is good news, as is the positive performance of EVs. That EV growth, however, is still being driven by substantial industry support with manufacturers using every channel and unsustainable discounting to drive activity, yet it remains below mandated levels. As we have seen in other countries, government incentives can supercharge the market transition, without which the climate change ambitions we all share will be under threat.'
