No merger of BRS with any party, asserts KTR
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K. Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) ruled out the BRS merging with any political party and said it would remain relevant to Telangana politics till the State exists. 'We have no reason to merge with anyone, and we will remain in public service as long as we have the people's blessings,' he said, arguing that the BRS was the only party that was rooted in the spirit of Telangana. He made these remarks while addressing a meeting of the Bhupalapally district party workers. His assertion came at a time when the BRS is cornered over allegations that there were efforts to merge it with the BJP. This gained credence after BJP MP C.M. Ramesh claimed that KTR personally visited him at his residence with the proposals. 'I have the evidence to prove it,' he claimed. As the BRS workers were caught in a dilemma, KTR categorically dismissed any such possibility and said this was a ploy to play with the sentiments of the party workers. He further said that people were now waiting for the Congress government to go, so that K. Chandrasekhar Rao could lead the State again. Bandi Sanjay dares KTR for open debate on BJP MP Ramesh's allegations
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has dared BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao for an open debate on the charges made against him by BJP MP from Anakapalli C.M. Ramesh accusing him of making a proposal to merge BRS with BJP in 2023. Talking to reporters in Karimnagar on Sunday, Mr. Sanjay alleged that the BRS rule was steeped in corruption. 'BRS leaders had come up with the merger proposal unable to run their party,' he said in reply to a question. However, during his speech at a public meeting in Nizamabad in 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made it crystal clear that BJP is against family-centric parties and politics of nepotism, he noted. 'Let him (KTR) decide the time and venue. I will arrange a public debate either in Karimnagar or Hyderabad to prove Mr. Ramesh's allegations against Mr. Rama Rao,' he said. 'BRS is on the verge of extinction and its leadership is incapable of running the party,' he charged, accusing Mr. Rama Rao of spearheading a false propaganda against the BJP through social media platforms. 'Such lies will not be tolerated anymore,' he warned, and alleged that the Congress leaders in Telangana were not reacting to KTR's 'abusive language' against their own leaders. Accusing the ruling Congress of 'pursuing appeasement politics', he demanded that 42% quota be exclusively earmarked for BCs by excluding Muslims from the BC list. MoS Bandi Sanjay asks KTR to respond to Ramesh's BRS-BJP merger claim
Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, on Sunday demanded that BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao respond to the allegation of BJP MP C. M. Ramesh that he had once approached him with a proposal to merge his party with the BJP. Stating that the claim made by Ramesh is true, Bandi Sanjay asked K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) to respond. The MoS was speaking to media persons in Karimnagar on Sunday. Ramesh, a member of Lok Sabha from Anakapalli in Andhra Pradesh, had claimed on Saturday that a few months ago, KTR had come to his house in Delhi and put forth the merger proposal, and that he had video evidence of it. Ramesh said KTR had offered to have an alliance or to merge the BRS with the BJP on the condition that ongoing Enforcement Directorate (ED) and CBI probes against his sister, K. Kavitha, and others would be halted. The BJP MP had dared the BRS leader to swear by God and tell whether he had approached him with such a proposal or not. Ramesh made the claim while responding to KTR's allegation that Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy awarded contracts to a company owned by the BJP MP. When Bandi Sanjay's attention was drawn to a challenge thrown by KTR for a debate on his allegation, the MoS said he was ready to facilitate the debate and asked the BRS leader to fix the date, time and venue. The MoS also cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's claim made at a public meeting in Nizamabad in 2023 that K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) had approached him with a request to include BRS in the NDA and also sought support to make his son KTR the chief minister. PM Modi had said he rejected his request on the ground that BRS is a family-centric party. The Minister of State claimed that BRS leaders were unable to run the party and alleged that the party is neck-deep in corruption. He also claimed that KTR had approached C.M. Ramesh in 2009 when KCR had refused to give him a ticket for the Assembly election for the first time. Ramesh not only convinced KCR to field KTR but also provided him financial support to contest the election, he said. The BJP leader accused KTR of using some social media accounts and YouTube channels to make derogatory comments against the BJP and its leaders. He warned the BRS leader that there would be 'attacks' in response to such comments.
