CBS Sports ranked the most intimidating environments for the 2025 season, and Memorial Stadium checked in at No. 8 on the list. Clemson will host LSU in what promises to be a marquee Top 10 matchup in Week 1.
'Anyone else anxious for opening weekend? LSU-Clemson from the ACC's Death Valley should be scintillating,' wrote CBS Sports' Brad Crawford. 'The Tigers' 40-game home winning streak was snapped in 2022 by South Carolina, but this is one of the nation's toughest road asks for quality teams. Notre Dame found that out two seasons ago after Clemson touched Howard's Rock before running down the hill and punching the Fighting Irish in the mouth. This is the only ACC environment that offers a SEC feel outside of Doak Campbell (Florida State) at night.'
Clemson vs. LSU also landed at No. 7 on CBS' list of the best individual game-day environments this fall. As for No. 1 overall? That honor went to LSU's Tiger Stadium, which will host heavyweights like Florida, Texas A&M, and Alabama this year.
Meanwhile, just ahead of Clemson in the venue rankings at No. 6 is a familiar location—Williams-Brice Stadium. The Tigers are aiming for their sixth straight win in Columbia this November and have dominated the series there, winning 17 of the last 22 matchups.
'Sandstorm. 2001. Cocky. Do yourself a favor and get to a South Carolina home game this season against Oklahoma, Alabama or Clemson,' Crawford wrote. 'The Gamecocks crowd will be fired up to try and spark a home victory over a ranked opponent, something they've accomplished three times during Shane Beamer's tenure. This place becomes really scary when South Carolina gets an early lead. It feels like the student section in the end zone is about to claw its way onto the field.'
Though Memorial Stadium ranks behind a few SEC venues this year, Clemson fans will have their chance to make a national statement when Death Valley comes alive on opening weekend.

Former Clemson basketball star PJ Hall has an NBA contract again. The Memphis Grizzlies signed Hall to a two-way contract July 20. A two-way contract allows a team to have up to three players (in addition to their 15-man roster) who can split time between the NBA and its G League affiliate. Hall, 23, is back in the NBA after going undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft and signing a two-way deal with the Denver Nuggets. He played in 19 games with the Nuggets last season, averaging 1.7 points and 1.2 rebounds in 3.5 minutes as a rookie. The Nuggets released him this offseason, and he played for the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA Las Vegas Summer League when the Grizzlies signed him. He averaged 9.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, one assist and 1.6 blocks in 13.7 minutes. Hall started all 20 of his Showcase Cup and regular-season appearances with the G League's Grand Rapids Gold last season, averaging 18.9 points, 11.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 blocks in 32 minutes. He averages increased to 19.2 points, 12.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 31.5 minutes in 13 games during the regular season. Hall attended Clemson for four seasons and helped it make to the Elite Eight for the first time in 44 years in 2024. He earned first-team All-ACC honors and finished third in ACC Player of the Year voting in his final season. Before Clemson, Hall played at Dorman in Spartanburg, helping the Cavaliers to two Class AAAAA state championships. He was rated the state's No. 1 recruit by 247Sports and was selected the Gatorade South Carolina Player of the Year as a senior. Projecting LSU baseball's starting pitching rotation for the 2026 season
After leading LSU baseball to a College World Series title, star pitchers Kade Anderson and Anthony Eyanson are off to the professional ranks. The duo was arguably the top pitching tandem in the country. Anderson threw 119 innings with a 3.18 ERA. He led college baseball with 180 strikeouts and capped his LSU career with a complete game shutout vs. Coastal Carolina in the College World Series final. Eyanson was equally impressive. He tossed 108 innings to the tune of a 3.00 ERA. He struck out 152 and walked 136. Anderson and Eyanson leave big shoes to fill. That's 227 quality innings out the door. But LSU has the talent to reload. The 2026 season is a long way away, but we'll take a look at what LSU's 2026 rotation is expected to look like. LSU will once again expect to compete for a CWS title with a top-notch rotation. The Ace: Casan Evans Evans was a true freshman in 2025 and didn't waste time emerging as one of LSU's top relievers. Evans' stuff was electric, earning him high leverage innings early in the year. Evans was so good that Jay Johnson decided to give him a chance as a starter after Chase Shores began to struggle as LSU's Sunday arm. Evans impressed, but with LSU needing help in the bullpen, Evans returned to his relief role in the postseason. With LSU's season on the line, Evans was dynamite out of the pen in Game 7 of the Baton Rouge Regional. He struck out nine straight batters at one point in that game. Evans finished 2025 with a 2.05 ERA in 52.2 innings. He averaged 12.1 strikeouts per nine innings, which put him among the nation's elite arms. Evans has the stuff to be an SEC ace, and if his 2025 NCAA Tournament was a preview of things to come, LSU is in a good spot. Evans is the heavy favorite to win LSU's Friday night pitching job in 2026. Saturday: Cooper Moore With LSU losing the experienced arms of Anderson and Eyanson, the Tigers took a look in the transfer portal. Jay Johnson secured a starter with Power Four experience in Cooper Moore. Moore, a right-hander, comes to LSU after spending two years at Kansas. Moore was one of the best available arms in the portal, and LSU had to battle programs like Tennessee to earn his services. Moore only walked 1.9 batters per nine innings. That ranked No. 3 among all Big 12 starting pitchers. He only issued 19 walks all year. Moore finished 2025 with a 3.96 ERA in 88.2 innings pitched. Expect Moore to take another step forward as he now gets to work with LSU resources and Nate Yeskie, one of the best pitching coaches in the country. Transfers pitchers have seen their draft stock skyrocket after transferring to LSU in recent years. Moore is looking to get the same boost in Baton Rouge. Sunday: Zac Cowan Zac Cowan transferred to LSU ahead of the 2025 season after excelling as a starting pitcher at Wofford. Cowan assumed a bullpen role with LSU and emerged as one of the top relievers in the SEC. Cowan announced his plans to return to Baton Rouge for another season, but his exact role is unclear. It wouldn't be a surprise to see Cowan start on Saturday, start on Sunday, or continue in the closer role. But right now, Cowan is the third-best arm on LSU, and he's capable of taking on a starter workload. We saw him do it at Wofford, and we saw him do it in the College World Series, where he pitched 5.1 fantastic innings vs. Arkansas. If that's the version of Cowan LSU will get in 2026, it's hard to justify keeping the right-hander in the bullpen. Cowan finished 2025 with a 2.94 ERA in 52 innings. He struck out 60 and walked 12.

CBS Sports ranks college football's most intimidating stadiums. Where did LSU rank?
LSU football is annually recognized as one of the toughest places to play, and that isn't changing anytime soon. CBS Sports ranked LSU atop its list of most intimidating venues ahead of the 2025 season. The top 10 follows a release by EA Sports' College Football 26 of the video game's toughest places to play. "Tiger Stadium provides a pressure-cooker feel before every kickoff against SEC competition, especially when the game's played at night -- which happens often," CBS Sports' Brad Crawford said. LSU welcomes Louisiana Tech, Florida, Southeastern Louisiana, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Arkansas, and Western Kentucky into Baton Rouge for its 2025 home schedule. "You get southern Super Bowl vibes before Alabama-LSU or Florida-LSU in Baton Rouge because the games mean so much to a passionate and buzzed fanbase," Crawford wrote. Since 2003, LSU is 129-21 at home. The Tigers generated plenty of hype during the offseason. Head coach Brian Kelly's staff took an aggressive approach to recruiting the transfer portal, which resulted in the highest-ranked class of the cycle. LSU's talent, mixed with a favorable home schedule, has the Tigers riding high into the 2025 season. However, LSU will open the year away from the comfort of Tiger Stadium, traveling to take on Clemson.
