Absolutely nobody expected Tipp to be in the final — but here they are on merit.

As for the Cats, I'm in Kilkenny an awful lot in recent times and I have a lot of friends there — particularly hurling friends.
And the hurt that Kilkenny feel when they lose to Tipperary is always massive, no matter what level it's at because the dislike that hurling people have between the counties down the years has never really gone away.

They would have preferred to have been beaten by the devil himself than to have been beaten by Tipp — so that's going to hurt and going to hurt for a long time.
That result is going to set Kilkenny back an awful lot because this was the only team they had with a genuine chance of ending the ten-year famine.
LAST CHANCE?
Go back to last year, and their club champions Thomastown were beaten by Castletown-Geoghegan of Westmeath in the Leinster club quarter-finals.
The one thing Kilkenny had is county club champions that were leaders. Whether it was Ballyhale or the Village.

TJ Reid got no ball in the second half and neither did Eoin Cody, even though he gave Robert Doyle a torrid time in the first.
A man-on-man ball on Ronan Maher or Eoghan Connolly never came Reid's way at all and even though he scored 0-11, only two of those came from play.
So many times two Kilkenny players went for the same ball with a Tipp player waiting for the break, and it cost them three of the four goals when McCarthy and Forde scored before Oisín O'Donoghue's wonder strike to win it.
The golden rule, you never play the ball down the wing, on your own wing — but they did that all day.

MURPHY'S LAW
Eoin Murphy had the most disappointing game I've ever seen from him in goal with all of his experience.
Shipping four goals was a huge blow for him and everything was wrong about him.
Kilkenny were still only beaten by two points but everything went right for Tipperary and the last goal from O'Donoghue was spectacular.
Conor Stakelum was outstanding and so were the subs that came in, from Noel McGrath to Alan Tynan.

Hurling was the winner but Kilkenny were the real losers. They must have really had their heads down going home last night because they have no great prospects of ending their famine anytime soon.
It's an all-Munster All-Ireland final for the second year running.
And all the pressure really will be on Cork.
Twenty years is a massive famine on Leeside, and they lost last year's final to Clare by a point after extra-time.
They rattled seven goals past Dublin and the hype and expectancy down there now will be through the roof.

GAA fans rant over 'brutal' new rule that Kerry used to their advantage
A number of GAA fans were left displeased as Kerry used the hooter rule to their advantage to end the first half of the All-Ireland Football final. In what was a rip-roaring first half between the two best teams in the country, the pace of the game comically slowed down for the final 90 seconds as Kerry waited for the hooter to blow. The Kingdom and Donegal did not take a backwards step and played the game at a ridiculously impressive pace up to that point but knowing that if they played to the hooter and put the ball dead, Kerry knew Donegal could work the ball for the final shot. The rule change was brought in this year, removing injury time and removing the subjective nature of it. However, the unintended consequence has meant that teams are happy to keep the ball and work the final shot. Some GAA fans were not happy with the spectacle after what was such an exciting opening half. "The hooter needs to be gotten rid of. Incentivises teams to stop attacking for the last 10 minutes & to play ugly defensive football," said one viewer. "Playing down until hooter actually drives me insane," said another. "Something needs to be done about that hooter rule. Lazy & unsportsmanlike," complained another. "I'm fully in support of the 2 pointer rule now. However, the hooter needs to go- it's a solution to a problem that wasn't really a problem," complained another.

GAA pay tribute to Fermanagh shooting victims at All-Ireland football final
The GAA have paid tribute to the victims of a fatal shooting in Maguiresbridge with a minute's applause at Croke Park ahead of Sunday's All-Ireland SFC final. Vanessa Whyte, who was 45, and her children, Sara (13) and James (14) died after they were shot at their home in the Co Fermanagh village on Wednesday. A male who also suffered gunshot wounds remains in a serious condition in hospital. Vanessa Whyte and her children were active members of two local GAA teams. In separate statements on Wednesday night, both St Mary's Maguiresbridge Gaelic Football Club and Lisbellaw St Patrick's Hurling Club offered "heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those impacted by the tragic incident. Vanessa Whyte and her children, Sarah and James "We are working with the GAA at county, provincial and national level, to implement the Association's critical incident protocols. We will work closely with all appropriate services to ensure that those who require support at this difficult time can access it. "The deceased were all active and beloved members of our club. We will not be making any further comment at this difficult time." A murder investigation has been launched, and police are probing a triple murder and attempted suicide line of inquiry. Ahead of today's All-Ireland SFC final at Croke Park between Donegal and Kerry, a minute's applause was warmly received with a picture of the mother and children displayed on the big screen at Croke Park. Ulster champions Donegal, managed by Jim McGuinness, are hoping to win their third All-Ireland title today as they take on Jack O'Connor's Kerry, who are bidding to win the Sam Maguire Cup for the 39th time.
