Powassan Voodoos sign North Bay Battalion draft pick
The Powassan Voodoos have signed North Bay U18 AAA Trappers power forward Cameron Lockhart, the club announced on Wednesday.

The 6'2', 194 pound right shot forward selected in the 15th round of the 2024 OHL Priority Selection by the North Bay Battalion, is coming off an impressive season in Great North U18 League where he had 18 goals and 25 assists for 43 points in only 23 games with the North Bay U18 AAA Trappers coached by former Voodoos assistant coach Josh Dale.
'It's an honour, it's a fast game and I can't wait for the new season,' Lockhart said about playing for the Battalion affiliate team.
'I am ready to work, I want to win a championship and hopefully we can get something good going this season.'
Chris Dawson, Voodoos GM, likes what the 2008 birth year forward brings to the Voodoos for the 2025-26 season.
'Cam has a lot of great tools,' said Dawson.
'He likes to play on the edge and scouts have compared his game to Matthew Tkachuk's. He has a great combination of skill, physicality along with a great shot that we are excited to see this upcoming season.'
Lockhart was among the 88 players who attended the Voodoos Prospects Camp on the July 5 and 6 weekend at Pete Palangio Arena in North Bay.
The North Bay product will continue to train in preparation for both the Voodoos training camp which begins August 20 and the North Bay Battalion training camp which starts August 25.

He played nine games with the St. Petersburg U17 team, scoring two goals and earning four assists for six points with four PiM. Powassan Voodoos bring back West Nipissing native to bolster lineup
Article content The Powassan brought back a familiar local player to their offensive group with the addition of forward Jesse Lefebvre. Article content The Voodoos acquired the 19-year-old product from Sturgeon Falls from the Renfrew Wolves of the Central Canadian Hockey League for a development fee. Article content 'It's great to be back around the Bay,' said Lefebvre, a 2022 draft pick of the North Bay Battalion. Article content Article content The 5-foot-9, 160-pound forward had nine goals and seven assists for 16 points in 50 games in the CCHL last season. Article content Article content In his rookie season of Junior 'A' hockey with the French River Rapids in 2023-24, Lefebvre had 13 goals and 24 assists for 37 points in 56 games. Article content In his final year of U18 hockey, Lefebvre racked up 19 goals and 28 assists for 47 points in 28 games with the U18 AAA Trappers, who won the Great North U18 title in 2022-23. Article content During that season with the U18 Trappers, Lefebvre played the majority of his time alongside current Voodoos players Justin Rousseau and Caleb Dawson. Several North Bay Battalion players are going 'camping' this summer
Article content Article content Article content A total of four North Bay Battalion members or prospects have been named to Canada's national summer under-18 and under-17 camps, Hockey Canada announced Thursday. Forward Parker Vaughan of the Ontario Hockey League club is one of 40 hopefuls, numbering 24 forwards, 12 defencemen and four goaltenders, invited to compete for a chance to represent Canada at the 2025 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, scheduled Aug. 11-16 at Brno, Czechia, and Trencin, Slovakia. Article content Article content Article content The Canadian selection camp, with 20 OHLers on the ice, is to run July 29 to Aug. 1 at the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex in Oakville, Ont. In addition, Battalion forward Cam Warren, defenceman Carter Kunopaski and goaltending prospect Cole Vreugdenhil are among 30 OHLers who have been chosen to attend a national under-17 development camp at the Oakville site. It starts Saturday and ends next Wednesday.
