Rubio to meet Jordan's Foreign Minister as Gaza crisis worsens
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to meet his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi in Washington on Wednesday, as the threat of mass starvation in Gaza continues to increase. Mr Safadi is in the midst of a tour of North America. Earlier this week, he met Canada's Foreign Minister Anita Anand. Mr Safadi's trip to Canada was part of a 'working visit' to the country by King Abdullah II. King Abdullah met Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Monday in Ottawa, the first meeting between the leaders since Mr Carney was elected in March. They discussed a host of issues, including ways to 'enhance the partnership between Jordan and Canada, as well as the latest developments in the region', Jordan's State News Agency said. Canada pledged $28 million to help Jordan bolster its border security, the Canadian Prime Minister's office said. 'The Prime Minister and His Majesty also discussed the situation in the Middle East, including the imperative of a ceasefire in Gaza, called for urgent, life-saving humanitarian aid to reach civilians, and the imperative for stability in Syria,' the Prime Minister's office said. The situation in Gaza appears to be further worsening, with the threat of mass starvation increasing in the densely populated strip. 'A large proportion of the population of Gaza is starving. I don't know what you would call it other than mass starvation – and it's man-made,' said World Health Organisation Director General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Wednesday.

DHARAMBEER GOKHOOL, The President of Republic of Mauritius, we also discussed the possibility of providing specialized training for Mauritian doctors in innovative and emerging fields such as Stem Cell Therapy in pathology, CAR T-cell treatment, AI in Radiology, Radiotherapy and Medical Oncology, Robotic Surgical Oncology, Neurology, Nephrology, Urology, and Neurosurgery. We are strongly committed to work closely with Ministry of Health to improve access to innovative and equitable healthcare solutions', added Dr. Kelej. The 100 scholarships for local Mauritian Doctors have been provided for One-Year PG Diploma and Two-year Master Degrees in many critical specialties including Fertility, Embryology, Sexual&Reproductive Care, Oncology, Preventative Cardiovascular, Diabetes, Endocrinology, Acute Medicine, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Dermatology, Neuroimaging for Research, Sexual&Reproductive Care, Clinical Microbiology and infectious diseases, Internal Medicine, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Ophthalmology, Laparoscopic Surgical Skills, Critical Care, Neonatal Medicine, Psychiatry, Family Medicine, Advanced Cytopathology and many more. Merck Foundation has so far provided more than 2280 scholarships for young doctors from 52 countries in 44 critical and underserved specialties, with many of them becoming the first specialists in their countries. Dubai real estate: Arada awards $184.5mn contract for Armani Beach Residences at Palm Jumeirah
Property developer Arada has awarded the main construction contract for the Armani Beach Residences at Palm Jumeirah to China Tiesju Civil Engineering, a subsidiary of China Railway Group Ltd (CREC). The contract, valued at AED 678 million, will see the development completed by the end of 2027. China Tiesju Civil Engineering brings experience from projects across the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia. Luxury Armani Beach Residences underway The conglomerate has a track record of on-time delivery, which Arada says aligns with its commitment to setting new standards for the Dubai residential market. The development has been designed in partnership with Armani/Casa Interior Design Studio and Japanese architect Tadao Ando, who won the Pritzker Prize. Armani Beach Residences at Palm Jumeirah will feature views of the Arabian Gulf and Dubai's skyline, alongside 90,000 square feet of amenities and 57 homes. Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, Group CEO of Arada, said: 'This appointment marks a key step forward for a project that stands as one of Dubai's most anticipated ultra-luxury developments, and is in line with our promise to work with world-class partners on this landmark project. Set against the iconic backdrop of Palm Jumeirah, Armani Beach Residences reflects Arada's ambition to deliver exceptional design, craftsmanship, and a truly elevated lifestyle experience.' Launched in 2024, the project combines minimalism, harmony and detail with views of the Arabian Gulf and Dubai's skyline from the outer crescent of the man-made islands. The development aims to set a benchmark for beachfront living in Dubai. Each home is designed to bring ocean and skyline views into its interior. The development offers two-, three-, four-, five-bedroom and penthouse residences, all providing access to exterior views. The project includes two presidential suites, which feature internal areas including a courtyard space with reflective pool, a gym, libraries, a private cinema, and a parking lounge with space for seven cars. The suites also include a mega-terrace with an infinity pool. Buyers of penthouses and presidential suites will have the opportunity to work directly with Armani/Casa to create bespoke interior schemes for their homes. The project was named Best Branded Residence at Robb Report's Best of the Best 2024 and won Waterfront Project of the Year at the 2024 Pillars of Real Estate Awards.
