GARY ANDERSON has called on darts players to 'have fun' again after slamming the sport's new stars as 'boring'.
The Flying Scotsman, 54, beat Luke Woodhouse 10-5 in the first round at the World Matchplay on Sunday - but he was far from chipper in his post-match interview.

Anderson alluded to Littler and the new darts stars not having the same "banter" between them
Fresh off his victory, Anderson was asked by Darts Now if him being only the third seed to get through the tournament shows how much the sport has changed, given it used to be all the same faces reaching the later stages before.
And the Scotsman took his opportunity to bring up the shift in darts in his response, even calling out younger players for "walking round with 'their bloody headphones in'.
He said: 'I was sitting thinking the other day, having a talk with [Ian] White, [Adrian] Lewis, [Phil] Taylor, [Kevin] Painter, we used to sit and have a cracking laugh.
'Nowadays, I'd rather sit like this. Nobody talks to anybody. You don't have a good laugh, you don't have a bit of banter. You need to have a laugh.

'Doesn't matter what you do in life, on a building site, office, you've always got to have a laugh. Nowadays, there's not much of that going about.'
He continued: 'The youngsters are boring. Absolutely boring.
'You talk to them, they're too busy looking at their phone.
'They're sitting on their phones with their bloody earphones in. Don't talk to you. It's a completely different life.'

The 2015 and 2016 PDC World Championships winner is competing with Luke Littler and the other new wave of darts players at the World Matchplay Darts.
18-year-old Littler - who narrowly missed out on a competition record over the weekend - has already earned a crazy amount of money since his rise to fame 18 months ago.
Luke Littler reveals gruelling new training regime that saw him almost break darts record
And while Anderson understands the new stars are making sure they reap the rewards of the rise of darts' popularity, he still wants them to let loose now and again.
He said: 'The youngsters, they're here to do their job. They've realised they've got a great chance in life to make a lot of bloody money, buy their first house, then their second house.
'But they need to calm down and think: right, this is my job. That's it.'
Anderson's next opponent in the Matchplay will be either Ryan Joyce or Stephen Bunting. He faces the winner of their first-round match, which takes place on Tuesday.

‘Sharon saved me every day' How Ozzy's wife's devotion never wavered through years of drug addiction hell
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) OZZY Osbourne once admitted how his loyal wife Sharon Osbourne saved his life "every day" despite his turbulent life. The Black Sabbath star's death comes just weeks after he took to the stage one final time with his band mates at Villa Park in Birmingham. But the veteran rocker may not have hit the heights of his stellar career if he did not have his loyal wife Sharon standing by his side during his lowest moments. Ozzy once said of the woman who became his second wife: 'If it weren't for her, without a shadow of a doubt, I would be dead.' Ozzy's volatile behaviour from his drinking and drug abuse saw his life seemingly fall apart and sparked his divorce from his first wife Thelma. He was also sacked from Black Sabbath on April 27, 1979 as his life continued to spiral downwards. But everything changed when Sharon Levy turned up at the door that year. Sharon, then 27, was the daughter of Black Sabbath's manager Don Arden. They'd first met when she was 18 and working as her dad's receptionist. The singer wrote in his autobiography I Am Ozzy: 'I fell for Sharon so badly, man.' And in another interview with Australian music guru Billy Pinnell, Ozzy said: "Truly, without my wife at my side, I wouldn't be here – without any doubt. The rocker did not shy away from the subject, adding: "I wouldn't be alive, I wouldn't be singing. "She saved my life every day." Ozzy Osbourne dead: Black Sabbath singer dies aged 76 weeks after touching final show When she turned up at his door, Sharon convinced the wreck that he could be a solo star, and that she should be the one to manage him. The pair wed in Hawaii on July 4, 1982. Not only did she become mother to his three children Aimee, Kelly and Jack but she also got things back on track. Debut solo album Blizzard of Ozz, with big numbers like Crazy Train, Suicide Solution and Mr Crowley, appeared in September 1980, and eventually sold more than five million copies. Sharon also amped up his satanic image, encouraging stage antics such as flinging animal entrails into the audience. But while Ozzy's solo career soared, so did his appetite for booze, illegal drugs and prescription pills. He later said: 'I was a beast. Absolutely terrifying.' Ozzy later expressed regret at the toll his much-publicised drug and alcohol abuse had on Sharon. In 1989, he attempted to kill Sharon while high on drugs. Sharon told the Guardian in 2001: 'He was totally insane from all the drink and drugs he was doing, and well, these things happen.' She fought him off and Ozzy was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, but Sharon later dropped the charges and he spent three months in rehab. Ozzy's family statement BLACK Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne has died at the age of 76. A statement from his family said: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. "He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. "Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis." Ozzy was also injured in a quad bike crash at his UK home in 2003, an episode that had a serious impact on his fragile health. Yet there was also redemption for the troubled singer, who relaunched himself as a reality TV star in The Osbournes in the early 2000s, after getting clean from drink and drugs with the help of Sharon. "The crap that I put her through when I was abusing myself - I'd disappear for weeks on end and I'd smack her in the eye and do all these horrible things, and she stuck by me and she got me through all kinds of stuff," Ozzy said. In later years, Ozzy became much more than just a singer. Along with Sharon and his kids, they became global TV sensations through their groundbreaking fly-on-the-wall documentary The Osbournes. It was such a smash hit that it paved the way for similar reality shows featuring Paris Hilton and later The Kardashians. Only three weeks ago, the Prince of Darkness who brought light into so many lives gave us one last hurrah when heavy metal royalty descended on Villa Park, Birmingham, to pay their respects. The Back to the Beginning gig ended with him - seated on a giant black throne because he could not stand - joining his Black Sabbath muckers on the songs that took him to the world stage.

Speaking on the family's MTV show in the early noughties, Ozzy said: "My wife Sharon is the leader. We all depend on her for everything. I'm like the monkey on the piano. I do the jumping and she plays the tunes. "I lie in Beverly Hills, and that itself from where I come from is incredible." Ozzy died at home in his stunning mansion in Welders, Buckinghamshire "surrounded by love". It came just two weeks after he performed his final ever gig with Black Sabbath, a star-studded affair at Villa Park just a stone's throw from the house he grew up in. Sharon and their children Aimee, Jack and Kelly, was by his side when he passed away. A statement from his family said on Tuesday evening: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. "He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. "Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis." Ozzy, who had Parkinson's disease, spent his final months filming a documentary about his family's return to the UK. Ozzy Osbourne dead: Black Sabbath singer dies aged 76 weeks after touching final show The BBC One docuseries, which would have featured Sharon, Kelly and Jack, was tragically never finished. A source said: 'The filming was on and off again so many times, mainly because of Ozzy's health.' A showman until the very end, Ozzy bravely battled with his health problems to perform short sets of solo material and Sabbath classics. He sang from a gothic throne befitting his status as the Godfather of metal, and at times appeared desperate to climb onto his feet. A source told The Sun: 'Ozzy was having singing lessons almost every day in preparation for his last show wanting to go out with a bang. 'He was in constant pain and had nurses tending to him around the clock but was determined to play this last show. 'His determination came from wanting to play for the fans one last time who gave him the amazing life he and Sharon have enjoyed together. 'Despite his ailments, Ozzy was still very much all there. Sharp-witted and loved to crack a joke. 'After the show, Ozzy was looking forward to fully retiring at Welders with Sharon, spending their last days together in Buckinghamshire. 'Despite all their well known ups and downs over the years, the love Sharon and Ozzy share was strong until the end.' Admired by artists from Motley Crue, Elton John and Bon Jovi to Metallica, Guns & Roses and Yungblud, Ozzy was a lovable rogue whose magnetic personality transcended the stage. In 2001, he appealed to a whole new audience after appearing in reality TV show The Osbournes with his family. Its first series was the most-watched show ever on MTV and propelled Jack and Kelly into stardom, with the latter enjoying a music career of her own. The family later starred in the reality series The Osbournes Want to Believe and special The Osbournes: Night of Terror, which both focused on paranormal investigations.
