Heritage plan for King's Lynn theatre that hosted Shakespeare
St George's is the country's largest surviving medieval guildhall. The plans include renovating the whole complex containing the theatre, two barns and internal courtyards backing onto the quayside.
Visitors to King's Lynn had mixed views about whether the renovation should take place. Laurence and Elizabeth Donovan were visiting the town from their home near Stratford, the renowned birthplace of the Bard.Mr Donovan said: "King's Lynn is loaded with historical buildings. "Shakespeare will never go out of fashion so I think this investment is a good idea." Mrs Donovan said: "In Stratford people come from all over the world because of Shakespeare." Susan and Roger Brown visited King's Lynn from Huddersfield. Mrs Brown said: "It's a lot of money. I think it could be better spent elsewhere."Mr Brown added: "It's alright spending £30m but you have to think about the catchment. Will you get thousands of visitors as a result?" Project papers suggest 77,000 extra visitors could come to the town to visit the Guildhall once the work is completed and the site reopens in 2028.
The project - expected to cost £30.5m - is led by the King's Lynn Town Board, which is funded from central government, supported by West Norfolk Council. More than £8m has been agreed via the Town Deal scheme, with the council seeking a further £2m from them. Full details of where the rest of the money will come from has not been released as it is deemed commercially sensitive. A meeting of the council's regeneration and development panel on 1 July heard that the council could borrow in the region of £16m towards the project. St George's Guildhall is owned by The National Trust and leased by West Norfolk Council until 2050. The trust is not contributing to the cost of the project but is supporting them with "advice and expertise".In a statement to the BBC they said: "We want to see the future of this historic building secured. "However, we have been clear from the start that the National Trust is a charity with limited resources, and the council would need to seek external funding to support their plans for this ambitious multi-million-pound project."This is the same approach we take for our own large-scale restoration projects."

Who is Sonay Kartal's bodybuilder ‘boyfriend' Luke Ogbourn?
BRITISH No.3 Sonay Kartal is lighting up Wimbledon 2025, having also reached round three last year. Here we take a look at her life and get to know her bodybuilder 'boyfriend' Luke Ogbourn. 4 4 4 Sonay Kartal beat former French Open champ Jelena Ostapenko in round one of Wimbledon 2025. She then stormed into round three for the second year running after a dominant and devastating victory over Viktoriya Tomova on Court No 3. Next up, Sonay is taking on French qualifier Diane Parry on Friday, July 4, 2025. Sonay has £152,000 in her back pocket but if she wins two sets, she will add an extra £68,000 to her bank balance. The British No.3 said: 'Obviously tennis is super expensive. 'When I was growing up, I kind of did quite a lot of tournaments on my own because I couldn't afford to pay a coach week-in, week-out. 'It helped me develop as a teenager, grow up super fast, made me much more mature. I held myself accountable to a lot of things. 'The LTA helped me massively. It came at exactly the right time. It was when I started to come on the scene and was putting together a few good wins consistently. 'They really helped to give me all the equipment and access to everything I needed to develop as well. 'I've shot up the rankings. My game style really rocketed. 'My coaches back in the day, they would charge me I guess the lowest fee and would try to help me out as much as possible. 'I was out quite a lot of years injured as a teenager. 'I didn't pick up a racquet for a couple years. I was kind of a bit inconsistent as I was going through my teenage years.' Sonay was born in London, but grew up in Brighton with her family. We don't gym together at all Sonay Kartalthe Express She is of Turkish descent and her dad owned a "kebab takeaway" and "sit down restaurant", serving Turkish food. Off the court, Sonay has been in a relationship with bodybuilder Luke Ogbourn. He even brought his beau a bouquet of flowers after she qualified for the first round of Wimbledon in 2024. Who is Luke Ogbourn? Luke Ogbourn is a British bodybuilder and strongman. He is best known for being in a relationship with tennis ace Sonay Kartal. Luke has been a visible and vocal supporter of Sonay, particularly during her impressive Wimbledon run last year and her first WTA singles title win at the Jasmin Open, also in 2024. Per his Instagram bio, Luke took home the silver medal at the United Kingdom's Strongest Man U23 competition in 2024, before going one better and securing gold at Iron Beasts 2024. 4 His profile regularly featured gym routines, rugby matches and highlights from his strongman competitions — but as of July 4, 2025, it seems to have been removed. The relationship between Sonay and Luke has been public since at least November 2023, when their first photo together appeared on Ogbourn's Instagram. Their relationship drew more attention during Wimbledon 2024 — Luke supported Sonay online and in person, sharing affectionate messages and congratulating her after matches. Despite both being athletes, Sonay said that they do not train together, telling the Express in 2024 that they "don't gym together at all". She added: 'I don't lift cars and pull cars and things like that. "Tennis is very specific training whereas he is just lifting as much weight as physically you can.' However, it is unclear whether they remain an item — Luke hasn't been spotted at Wimbledon this year. All traces of their relationship seem to have totally disappeared from social media.

Liam Gallagher spotted at Marston's pub The Crwys The lookalike was organised by Marston's to launch PubLife after 13 million fans were disappointed on 31st August 2024, when tickets to the hottest anticipated reunion tour, perhaps ever, went on sale, with only 1 in 10 people getting their hands on them. Tyson Fury slaps Usyk's face on SEX DOLL and sends rival X-rated message after performing retirement U-turn
TYSON FURY has been getting to grips with an Oleksandr Usyk faced SEX DOLL just hours after hinting a trilogy fight with his rival is in the pipeline. The Gypsy King seemingly performed a U-turn on his fifth retirement from boxing on Thursday by revealing an apparent date for a third showdown with his two-time conqueror. 4 4 4 Fury, 36, is adamant he was robbed of victory in the back-to-back Riyadh rumbles with the slick southpaw, which earned him a pretty penny. And he's seemingly trying to get an early handle on the elusive Olympian ahead of what would be a shock third showdown by plastering his face on a blow-up sex doll. The former two-time unified heavyweight champion posted a video of himself holding the clothes-less doll with a picture of Usyk's face on it to his Instagram account. After manager Spencer Brown claimed he'd been to the "sex shop", Fury replied: "I've got myself a little Usyk. "I'm getting ready for when we fight in April 26. In the meantime, he's gonna get f****d." His accompanying caption for the video read: "Just getting ready for @usykaa fight. "But in the meanwhile, i'll be at it 🤣😜🤣🤣🤣😎#livinglife." 4 Fury announced his fifth retirement from the sport in January, just a matter of weeks after his second straight defeat to Usyk. In the months which followed, the Wythenshawe warrior repeatedly shut down the prospect of setting foot inside the ring again and insisted he was content with his achievements. Tyson Fury and Jake Paul's text messages leaked with money brother Tommy has been offered for rematch revealed But earlier this week, he roared: I want my revenge (on Usyk) in England. "That's all I want, a fair shout. And I don't believe I've got a fair shout the last two times. "That's the one I want but if I don't get that then it will be Joshua, the biggest British fight that will ever happen. "It would break all records and sell out 100,000 at Wembley in an hour. "It's a fight that I think can happen for sure if I decide to come back and the deal's right." Discussing a third option of taking on Dubiois, Fury added: "If I was to return and fight Dubois, he wouldn't land a glove on me, it would be a one-sided beatdown. "But I wish him luck in his fight against Usyk, but I would annihilate him." Usyk will be back in action on July 19, taking on IBF titleholder Daniel Dubois at Wembley for all the heavyweight marbles.
