TORONTO (AP) — Emmanuel Latte Lath converted a penalty kick in the 11th minute of stoppage time for Atlanta United on Saturday night in a 1-1 tie with Toronto FC.
Latte Lath's shot from the spot was parried by goalkeeper Sean Johnson near the left post but slipped inside the right post to cap the scoring.

Jayden Hibbert, who turns 21 on Aug. 5, made his MLS debut for Atlanta and finished with four saves. Hibbert started in place of Brad Guzan, who underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a fractured cheekbone that occurred in a collision with teammate Luis Abram in last week's 0-0 tie at D.C. United.
Deybi Flores headed home a corner kick played in by Matty Longstaff to give Toronto a 1-0 lead in the 48th minute.
Toronto (4-11-6) has one win in its last seven games.
Atlanta (4-10-7) is winless in four straight.

ATLANTA — Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred stressed patience, but he is confident that a sale of the Minnesota Twins will be completed. Manfred said Tuesday morning that a process which began last October when the Pohlad family announced it would explore a sale is making good progress after initially losing steam when potential buyer Justin Ishbia, the 'leader in the clubhouse,' opted to increase his ownership stake in the Chicago White Sox. The statement was made one day after The Athletic reported the Tampa Bay Rays would be sold for $1.7 billion. 'I know some things that you don't know,' Manfred said. 'I can tell you with a lot of confidence that there will be a transaction there, and it will be consistent with the kind of pricing that has taken place. There will be a transaction. We just need to be patient while they rework.' The Pohlad family, currently in its third generation of owning the Twins, is believed to be asking for $1.7 billion for a club purchased by grandfather Carl Pohlad in 1984 for $44 million. In March, a source close to the sale process said the Twins rejected a $1.5 billion valuation for the club. Sportico values the Twins' worth at $1.7 billion even though the club is carrying $425 million worth of debt, one of the higher amounts among MLB's 30 teams. Back in January, Ishbia was determined to be the front-runner in the Twins' sale process, one a source suggested could be agreed upon by Opening Day. But in late January, the White Sox reached out to Ishbia and gauged his interest in increasing his minority stake in the club with the possibility of one day purchasing it from current owner Jerry Reinsdorf. Ishbia, who lives in the Chicago area, moved on from the Twins and increased his stake in the White Sox from 5 percent to 35 percent. The Twins were forced to regroup, a process which has shown progress but taken time. 'You know this is a small business, right? Manfred said. 'All those bankers that are out there, there ain't that many of them, they all talk to each other. When it becomes clear that you have a leader in the clubhouse, everybody else kind of backs away, right? Because they kind of get a feel for price. And unless they're prepared to top, they're going to move on and do something else. So a big part of the delay in Minnesota was associated with the leader in the clubhouse made a decision to do something else.' When the deal for Tampa Bay is complete, it would be the second consecutive sale of an MLB team in which the price reached $1.7 billion. Last year, the Baltimore Orioles sold for $1.725 billion.

FIFA releases ticket information for World Cup 2026 at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field
Some of the world's best soccer players are coming to Philadelphia in 2026 for the World Cup, but getting tickets to the games won't be easy. Lincoln Financial Field in South Philadelphia is set to host six World Cup games next summer in June and July 2026. On Tuesday, FIFA announced that it will hold a lottery for tickets in several phases, with the first phase beginning on Sept. 10. Fans interested in securing a ticket to one of the many games at the Linc can register online with FIFA to be among the first to know about any updates regarding the ticket sale rollout. When registering, fans will create a FIFA ID if they don't already have one. Then on Sept. 10, fans will use their FIFA ID to apply online for the organization's first chance to buy tickets. If at first you don't succeed, don't worry, soccer fans. There will be multiple ticket phases from the start of the sales on Sept. 10, through the final World Cup match on July 19, 2026. According to FIFA, the Final Draw for the World Cup 26 will take place sometime in December. Shortly after this, teams will then be assigned to specific match schedules, venues and kick-off times. FIFA fans looking to splurge can already start scoring hospitality packages, which include match tickets, online now. The FIFA World Cup 26 kicks off on June 11, 2026, in Mexico City, and the final match is scheduled for July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

MLB players' association head acknowledges federal investigation into OneTeam Partners
ATLANTA — Baseball players' association head Tony Clark acknowledged a federal investigation into One Team Partners, a licensing company it founded with the NFL Players Association. 'We understand that there is an investigation going on right now and we have and we will continue to fully cooperate with that investigation,' Clark told the Baseball Writers' Association of America on Tuesday. The government has not commented on its probe. OneTeam says on its website that it's 'the first multi-billion-dollar company built for athletes, by athletes.' It helps license player rights for sponsorships, media content, video games and more. Clark defended the union's financial transparency with its members. 'An audit's done every year,' he said.
