Minnesota Lynx' Napheesa Collier out with ankle sprain; reevaluation expected "in coming weeks," team says
Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier will be sidelined after spraining her right ankle against the Las Vegas Aces on Saturday, the team announced Monday, though it's unclear how long she will be out. In a news release, the Lynx said Collier's injury was confirmed after she underwent an MRI at Mayo Clinic Square in downtown Minneapolis. The team said she will be "reevaluated in the coming weeks." The MVP frontrunner appeared to step on teammate Alanna Smith's left foot and immediately went down near Las Vegas' bench with the Lynx holding a 92-49 lead late in the third quarter. She attempted to stand but sat back down on the court, writhing in pain, and was immediately surrounded by Aces starters A'ja Wilson, Chelsea Gray, Jackie Young, NaLyssa Smith and Kierstan Bell, who all held towels to shield her from exposure. Collier's teammates, coaches and trainers eventually made their way to the opposite end of the court to tend to the 2025 All-Star MVP. The WNBA on Monday announced Collier as the Western Conference Player of the Month for July. The Lynx (24-5) have three games this week, including a WNBA Finals rematch in New York on Sunday against the Liberty. New York has its own injury issues with Breanna Stewart out for a few weeks with a bone bruise in her right knee. Minnesota has a 5 1/2 game lead on New York in the standings.

Kayla McBride Sets WNBA Ablaze With Historic Game Against Aces
Kayla McBride Sets WNBA Ablaze With Historic Game Against Aces originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Minnesota Lynx carried a 23-5 record into Saturday's matchup against the Las Vegas Aces at Michelob ULTRA Arena. The Aces, who won both the 2022 and 2023 WNBA championships, are off to a 14-13 start and sit in eighth in the league standings. Minnesota got off to a hot start against Las Vegas, scoring 67 first-half points and holding the Aces to just 33. Their largest lead was 37, but they carried a 34-point advantage into halftime. One of the key reasons for this lopsided lead is that the Lynx made 13 three-pointers in the first half, whereas Las Vegas made just four. The Lynx also made 13-of-14 attempts from beyond the arc, good for 92.9%. Kayla McBride Sets WNBA Record Against Las Vegas Aces 12-year veteran and five-time WNBA All-Star guard Kayla McBride was the chief contributor to this blazing shooting percentage, as she went 8-for-8 from the three-point line in the first half of the contest. Not only did she contribute 24 points for the Lynx in just 18 minutes, in addition to four assists, two rebounds and two steals, but her eight made three-pointers without a miss in one half was a WNBA record. This also tied her personal WNBA record for most made three-pointers in a game. However, she was able to accomplish this feat in just one half against the Aces during Saturday's game. WNBA Fans React to Kayla McBride's Historic Half Against Aces WNBA fans were in awe of McBride's shooting spectacle in Las Vegas and took to social media to convey their feelings about the historic performance. "Kayla McBride being 8/8 from 3 is nuts 😭😭😭😭," one fan wrote. "Smacking the Aces." "So Basically Kayla McBride is Steph Curry's Female Counterpart ??" another fan commented. "McBride cooking them BY HERSELF. 8-8 3pt is crazy," a fan chimed in. "Kayla McBride snappin rn. 8 3's at half and she's didn't miss 1," another story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 2, 2025, where it first appeared.
