G Flip Will Channel ‘Butch Springsteen' on Eighties-Inspired Album ‘Dream Ride'
'When diving in and writing this record, I was sonically captivated by the '80s. I love the use of reverb, the drum tones, all the sonics, the musicality, the soloing, and big drum moments,' G Flip said in a press statement. 'I also really wanted to make a world to accompany the music and storytelling. I kept asking myself, 'Who would I have been in the 80's? What would I wear, what haircut would I have, and what car would I drive?''

They add: 'The answer is Butch Springsteen, the masc lesbian, non-binary, drumming, singing pop star that never existed.'
G Flip explained that Dream Ride was born after many late-night drives to the studio, which inspired car-themed lyrics in the songs they were creating. 'I also love old cars and totally wanted to drive a Barracuda around,' they admit. (The album cover sees G Flip posing outside of a hot-pink car with a retro-inspired design.)
To celebrate the album announcement, G Flip released the single 'In Another Life,' which they say is the start of their album's Dream Ride. The LP is also set to feature previously released singles 'Disco Cowgirl' and 'Big Ol' Hammer,' which starred Fortune Feimster.
Dream Ride follows their second studio album, Drummer, which dropped in 2023. 'I wanted to bring back just how I go about making music from the band sense and as a kid. The new record's very instrument-based, very drum-heavy, very organic-sounding,' they told Rolling Stone. 'There's no loops that I got from the internet. Not saying that that's a bad thing, but for my creative process, I wanted it to be very hands-on and me physically playing everything.'

Justin Bieber Shows Off His ‘Swag' On Surprise New Album
Justin Bieber More than a decade and a half into his life in the spotlight, Justin Bieber has been able to maintain success in the music industry while many other former child stars have either faded from the spotlight or fallen to the wayside entirely. His most recent album, 2021's Justice, spawned the Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping single 'Peaches' and the top-10 entries 'Holy,' 'Anyone,' and 'Ghost.' Bieber has largely laid low in the years since then, welcoming his first child with wife Hailey Bieber last August. Now, seemingly out of nowhere, Bieber is back with the surprise release of his seventh studio album Swag. In the lead-up to the album's release, the Canadian hitmaker signaled that he was dealing with personal issues that may or may not come out in forthcoming music. 'Don't you think if I could have fixed myself I would have already?" the singer wrote on Instagram. "I know I'm broken. I know I have anger issues. I tried to do the work my whole life to be like the people who told me I needed to be fixed like them. And it just keeps making me more tired and more angry. The harder I try to grow, the more focused on myself I am.' On Swag, Bieber sings about his life as a new father on 'Dadz Love' and serenades his wife on tracks like 'Go Baby' and 'Walking Away.' 'Baby, I ain't walking away / You were my diamond / Gave you a ring / I made you a promise / I told you I'd change / It's just human nature / These growing pains / And baby, I ain't walking away," he sings. Along the way, Bieber weaves in spoken interludes ranging from honest confessions like the aptly titled 'Therapy Session" to the tongue-in-cheek 'Standing on Business,' which samples Bieber himself in a much-memed clip that went viral last month. Artists like Gunna, Sexyy Red, and Marvin Winans join Bieber for featured spots on the project. It remains unclear if Bieber will go on tour in support of Swag. He ended his Justice World Tour in 2022 early after having to prioritize his health.

This time he sang directly to wife Hailey, 28, with admiration and affection. He dubbed the model "iconic," and shouted out her viral Rhode lip gloss, tucked neatly into her iPhone case — a nod to her growing beauty empire. "When sunlight turns to shadow and it gets hard to face. Like water to a flower, babe, I know you need the rain. Nothing needs to work out and nothing needs to break. Don't need to pretend that you're okay." Bieber added, "cry on my shoulder… stay by my side." His wife Hailey showed her support, sharing several photos of his album cover on her Instagram story. Bieber's "Swag" album was spotted on billboards across major cities, including in Times Square, New York. She additionally posted on her social media that she listened to the track "Daises." Bieber, who has since deleted his caption, finished his post by dedicating a message directly to his wife, and wrote, "So baby u already know but forgive me for saying u wouldn't get a vogue cover cuz clearly i was sadly mistaken." Earlier that same month, Bieber admitted being "flawed" in a series of posts on social media. The singer, who had previously been in the spotlight for his behavior on social media causing concern among fans, wrote, "I'm just an average flawed guy. I've done things that have hurt others. I continue to do and say things that hurt others unintentionally." Bieber and Hailey tied the knot in 2018 and welcomed their first child, Jack Blues Bieber, in August 2024.
