Nitco Ltd has announced a fresh development in its ongoing business collaboration with Prestige Estates Projects Limited. Building on earlier orders worth ₹216 crore, Nitco has now received a Letter of Intent (LoI) for an additional tile order valued at approximately ₹45 crore. This brings the total value of orders from Prestige to around ₹261 crore.
The entire order, which covers the supply of Tiles, Marble, and Mosaic products, is expected to be executed over the next 12 months. The agreement underscores the strong demand for Nitco's premium offerings and affirms the company's execution capabilities in large-scale supply contracts.
This continued partnership with Prestige Estates—a reputed name in the Indian real estate sector—highlights the trust developers place in Nitco's quality and service standards. The latest order is purely domestic and falls outside the scope of related party transactions.
With this development, Nitco further strengthens its foothold in the institutional supply segment, signaling a positive trajectory in its order book and overall growth momentum for FY2025-26.

Italy court acquits consultant in India helicopter case

MILAN (Reuters) -An Italian appeals court has fully acquitted an Italian-American consultant who had previously settled a charge of international corruption in a case related to a 2010 helicopter contract between defence company Leonardo and the Indian government. According to the ruling reviewed by Reuters, the appeals court in the northern city of Brescia upheld a review request filed by Guido Ralph Haschke, revoking the plea bargain and acquitting him "because there was no case to answer". Haschke, 73, a U.S. and Italian citizen living in Switzerland and an international consultant with a background as a World Bank executive, agreed to a plea bargain of one year and 10 months during the first trial in 2014 after being accused of being a middleman in the alleged corruption. The case was a big political issue in Italy and India when it opened in 2012 and tarnished the company's reputation at a time when India had established itself as one the world's biggest arms buyers. Sentences of under two years for people with a previous clean record are conditional in Italy and do not result in time behind bars. Italy's Supreme Court in 2019 acquitted the defendants in the case, two former executives of the Italian state-controlled defence group previously known as Finmeccanica. That prompted Luca Lauri, Haschke's lawyer to initiate the appeal proceedings that led to a ruling late on Monday, in which, according to a statement released by the law firm, the consultant was accorded "the broadest possible acquittal". Haschke had told Reuters in 2014 that his plea bargain was not an admission of responsibility but a "technical decision to avoid years of trials". The case revolved around corruption allegations related to a contract worth 560 million euros ($660 million) to supply a dozen helicopters to the Indian government. The deal between the defence group and India was subject to international arbitration which ended in 2019, effectively cancelling the contract. ($1 = 0.8467 euros)

CCI orders probe against Asian Paints for alleged abuse of dominance following complaint by Grasim's Birla Opus Paints

By Aditya Bhagchandani Published on July 1, 2025, 18:51 IST The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has directed its director general (DG) to initiate an investigation against Asian Paints for alleged abuse of market dominance. The probe follows a complaint filed by Grasim Industries, which recently entered the paint market under the Birla Opus Paints brand. According to CCI's order dated July 1, Birla Opus Paints has accused Asian Paints of placing restrictive clauses in distributor agreements to discourage them from selling Birla Paints products. The complaint also alleges that Asian Paints rewarded exclusive dealers with special discounts and foreign trips, while penalizing those who sold both brands by reducing credit limits, increasing sales targets, and cutting down consumer leads. The commission noted that Asian Paints allegedly threatened raw material suppliers, transporters, and warehousing agents to limit business with Birla Paints. A specific incident was cited from October 2023, when Asian Paints, during a vendor meet at ITC Maratha Mumbai, reportedly warned over 150 top vendors that supplying to Birla Paints would result in a reduced business share with Asian Paints and that vendors should charge higher rates to Birla Paints. CCI observed that such conduct prima facie amounts to input foreclosure and denial of market access, which violates Section 4(2)(c) of the Competition Act. According to CMIE data, Asian Paints holds the largest market share in the Indian paints sector at 39.05% as of FY23, followed by Berger Paints with 12.13%, while Kansai Nerolac and Akzo Nobel India each hold under 10%. The commission has now ordered a detailed investigation into the matter. TAFE to buy back AGCO's 20.7% stake for $260 million, gains exclusive ownership of Massey Ferguson brand in India

Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited (TAFE) has announced a comprehensive settlement with US-based AGCO Corporation, covering brand rights, equity shareholding, and commercial arrangements. As part of the agreement, TAFE will acquire AGCO's 20.7% stake in the company for $260 million (approximately Rs 2,165 crore), making TAFE a wholly owned subsidiary of the Chennai-based Amalgamations Group. Following this transaction, TAFE will gain sole and exclusive ownership of the Massey Ferguson brand across India, Nepal, and Bhutan, including all related trademarks and goodwill. TAFE will continue to retain its 16.3% equity stake in AGCO and has agreed not to exceed this level. The company will also participate in AGCO's future share buyback programs to maintain its proportional ownership, subject to specified conditions. Additionally, all existing commercial agreements between TAFE and AGCO will be terminated. However, TAFE will fulfill pending supply orders and continue parts support under agreed terms. Both companies have agreed to withdraw all ongoing legal proceedings, including those before the Madras High Court concerning the Massey Ferguson brand. The agreement will take effect following necessary regulatory and procedural approvals in India. TAFE Chairman and Managing Director Mallika Srinivasan expressed gratitude for the long-standing partnership with AGCO and reiterated the company's commitment to Indian agriculture and its dealer and customer base.
