Govt to get feedback on sanitation in ULBs
This initiative forms a key part of the Positive People Perception Tracking (PPT) framework, operational under the state's Real Time Governance System (RTGS), said S Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary to Government, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department.
The initiative utilises Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) technology to collect real-time citizen feedback on urban services, with a renewed focus on sanitation. Following a high-level review chaired by the Chief Secretary on June 30, 2025, the government has set ambitious yet achievable satisfaction targets for Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), prioritising accountability and timely service delivery. The department of municipal administration and urban development has set satisfaction targets for 17 municipal corporations and 77 municipalities. These targets are on door-to-door garbage collection, garbage dump clearance and desilting drains. For the remaining Nagara Panchayats, IVRS feedback collection will commence from September 2025, said Suresh Kumar.
To meet these targets, ULB Commissioners have been directed to initiate immediate and comprehensive measures, in conjunction with field inspections and close supervision by municipal functionaries, he added.
The department of municipal administration has made it clear that strict adherence to these protocols is non-negotiable, and any lapse will be viewed with seriousness. State-level monitoring mechanisms are already in place to track performance and enforce accountability.
This initiative reflects the Andhra Pradesh Government's steadfast commitment to building cleaner, healthier, and more responsive urban environments, driven by citizen feedback and evidence-based governance, said Suresh Kumar.

Andhra Pradesh government restores pensions for 1,575 landless families in Amaravati
Vijayawada: The state government has decided to restore welfare pensions to around 1,575 landless poor families in Amaravati, the capital city area. This decision follows a resolution passed by the CRDA (Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority) governing council, chaired recently by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu . Each family will receive a monthly pension of Rs 2,500 until further notice. "The government has authorised the Commissioner, APCRDA, to extend the benefit of the landless poor pension to 1,575 families as per the original household survey conducted in 2015. These families were initially granted the benefit but were later excluded based on income limits and six-step validation. The government has now decided to restore the pension as a special case, considering the unique circumstances under which these families lost their livelihoods due to the establishment of the Capital City and land acquisition by the APCRDA," said S Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary, municipal administration and urban development (MA&UD). He explained that the CRDA, at its recent meeting, resolved to restore the Amaravati landless poor pension starting January 2025, based on the original 2015 household survey. Following this, the CRDA Commissioner requested that the benefit be extended to the 1,575 families who were previously included in the scheme. In 2015, soon after the announcement of the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS), the state government granted a welfare pension of Rs 2,500 to approximately 23,500 families in the capital city area. The scheme was designed to support landless poor families who lost employment due to the acquisition of agricultural land for capital city development. The Guntur District Collector determined the landless status based on a household survey, white ration card (BPL status), and residential proof in Amaravati. However, during the YSRCP government's tenure, 1,575 families were removed from the pension list following a six-step verification process, which classified them as above the poverty line. Now, the Naidu-led NDA government has decided to continue the pension, regardless of income status. Notably, the original government decision in 2015 stated that both the landless poor pension and the LPS annuity would be provided only for ten years, which would have ended in July 2025. However, due to the delay in completing the capital city construction, the government has opted to extend both schemes. The landless poor pension will cost the government Rs 70–80 crore, while the LPS annuity requires an annual outlay of about Rs 160 crore for around 18,000 farmers in Amaravati.

Andhra Pradesh government issues new orders on Amaravati land allocation
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh govt issued fresh orders on Sunday regarding the allocation and reallocation of lands in the capital region of Amaravati, marking a strategic move to streamline institutional land use. Acting on the recommendations of the Group of Ministers (GoM), the govt sanctioned land to several new organisations and revised the allotments for others. As part of the latest orders, 32.40 acres of land were allocated to seven new institutions in Amaravati. Notably, the BJP was allotted 2 acres of land for establishing its state office. The income tax department and AP Grameena Bank were allotted 2 acres of land. KIMS was allocated 25 acres of land for the construction of a medical college. These allocations are being made on a 60-year lease basis. Simultaneously, the govt cancelled earlier land allocations to some organisations. These include 0.40 acres allotted to GAIL and 1 acre to Ambica, with the CRDA Commissioner directed to take appropriate follow-up action. Additionally, amendments were made to land allocations for six previously approved institutions. These decisions are part of the implementation of proposals submitted during the 18th Cabinet Sub-Committee on Land Allocation, held on June 23. Subsequent proposals were reviewed and placed before the 50th CRDA Authority meeting on July 5, following which the govt gave its administrative nod. The new orders were issued through GO MS No. 122 by S Suresh Kumar, principal secretary of MA&UD department. These changes reflect the govt's intent to ensure optimal and purposeful use of prime capital region lands. With new institutions gaining ground and non-utilised lands being reclaimed, Amaravati's development is expected to align more closely with the state's administrative and infrastructural goals.

MLA opposes cut in Hebbal Metro hub land allocation in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: Rajajinagar MLA and former minister Suresh Kumar has urged the govt not to reduce the land allocated for the proposed multi-modal transport hub at Hebbal to 9 acres from 45 acres. In a letter to the govt, Kumar warned against altering the project to accommodate real estate and political interests. Kumar said any reduction would lead to the scrapping of critical citizen-friendly features such as parking space, and interlinking of three Metro lines, including the airport line. He alleged that the govt is quietly moving to approve the nine-acre plan. "If the govt forces BMRCL to compromise, I will educate civic groups and launch a campaign against this decision," he said. He urged chief minister Siddaramaiah, DCM DK Shivakumar, and industries minister MB Patil to reject any attempts by real estate lobbies to influence the project. Kumar also demanded compensation for the original landowners, who have waited over 20 years for settlement after their land was acquired.
