Much of the talk at AWS Summit centered around how Microsoft vowed to protect its European operations, even if U.S. President Donald Trump tries to block the continent from using its cloud services. A bullish Bentzmann said that the situation brought on by the Trump administration demonstrates that UK and European companies must acknowledge more complexities in the immediate future: 'The U.S. cloud is the leading cloud in Europe. Due to the differences in the Chinese cloud, Europeans have been more trusting of the U.S. cloud so far. Even if we were a little surprised and uncomfortable with the Patriot Act signed by President Trump during his first term, we trust the U.S. tech and the U.S. Cloud. And that's what you can see, that the Chinese cloud is so small. There is now a growing awareness that we should be more cautious, as we can see that it's a risk we may not have fully appreciated over the last few years. We see two kinds of sovereign clouds. The one like Thales with a product called S3NS in this larger organization. They are building a cloud solution on Google technology, but run by Thales data centers. So, it's Google technology run by a European organisation, and it's secured in that way so that nobody can access customers' data. So that's one answer. There is another one, run by Microsoft, called Cloud for Sovereignty, which gives access keys to the data only to the customers. However, this might not be entirely comfortable for customers, as technology provides robust security. However, they still doubt what will happen in the event of a conflict between Microsoft and the customer. So that's a second option. The answer is so far no, they are not a solution. We have some in France and in Germany, but they don't invest enough in technology, and innovation is limited due to limited means. Kate keeps Louis close to her heart: Princess of Wales's touching tribute to her youngest son as he misses Wimbledon final
Prince Louis was notably absent from SW19 this afternoon as the Wales family arrived to watch the men's Wimbledon final - but his mother ensured she kept him close. The Princess of Wales, 43, who affectionately refers to her seven-year-old son as 'Lou-bug', donned a stunning gold pendant around her neck which contained a sweet tribute to the young royal. The royal mother-of-three accessorised her royal blue outfit with a 9ct gold pendant from Daniella Draper, complete with stunning gemstones. The £3,000 pendant is not only a glamorous accessory; but a sweet tribute to Prince Louis as the gems are the birthstone for April - the month Louis was born. The youngest of the Wales children celebrated his seventh birthday on April 23; with Kensington Palace sharing a sweet video of the cheeky royal playing outside on the Sandringham Estate. He last delighted royal fans with his funny facial expressions and adorable beaming smile, showing off his new adult front teeth, at Trooping the Colour in June. The women's 2025 final saw Iga Swiatek beat Amanda Asiminova 6-0, 6-0 in a match that lasted just under an hour. Kate appeared overwhelmed upon arrival at the Royal Box on Centre Court and was welcomed by a huge chorus of cheers and a standing ovation. It was reminiscent of the reception she received last year, when she chose the tennis tournament as her first solo outing after taking time away from public duty while being treated for cancer. States of Guernsey to bring more services online
The States of Guernsey is planning to bring more services online with the introduction of an artificial intelligence (AI) government is working with digital transformation company EPAM to implement the ServiceNow platform and to provide "much needed" application support services for the Revenue Service, at a cost of about £5m.Gé Drossaert, the States' chief digital and information officer, said the AI platform would "deliver the digital capabilities the island needs".He said it would provide the digital foundation to enable further services to be brought online in future. Mr Drossaert said ServiceNow was a well-established cloud-based AI-enhanced platform that automated processes, which was crucial for the needed digital transformation of States of Guernsey services. "This will be a long-term project, as we will be starting with getting the digital foundations in place that gives us the capabilities we need to develop a roadmap to increasing over time the number of digital services we offer to the community," he added.A States' spokesperson said the long-term aim was for islanders to be able to easily transact with public services online, for the completion of tax returns and online payments, as is possible now, but also for a variety of public services that would be added over time. 'Accessible and user-friendly' The new platform is said to be a key part of the States' Digital Strategy, which sets out plans for enhancing the security, accessibility and user experience of government services while increasing the efficiency of public service delivery.A States spokesperson said both EPAM and ServiceNow were selected following a competitive tender process. EPAM has also been contracted to provide "much needed" application support services for the Revenue Service, previously undertaken by Agilisys, the spokesperson said. Balazs Fejes, president of global business and chief revenue officer at EPAM, said the company was "set to enhance the government's digital services, ensuring they are secure, accessible and user-friendly". He said the firm would be launching an EPAM branch in Guernsey to give them a physical presence on the island, adding they would be looking to create employment opportunities Stirrett, group vice president and general manager, UK and Ireland at ServiceNow, said the "collaboration will help deliver secure, accessible, and user-centric digital experiences for islanders".
