Annual National Day ceremony showcases unity, says Fahmi
He urged everyone to proudly fly the Jalur Gemilang at their homes, cars, premises, schools, and other places nationwide.
Fahmi, who is also the National Day and Malaysia Day main committee chairman, hoped the public would join the 1 Rumah 1 Jalur Gemilang initiative.
He was speaking at the official launch of the 2025 National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign at Dataran Tanjung Emas on Sunday (July 27), marking the beginning of the nationwide celebration of patriotism and unity.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also flagged off the 2025 Jalur Gemilang Merdeka Expedition Convoy, which will travel across the country carrying the message of unity and patriotism.
Fahmi added that each year they try to do something different to instil patriotism among the people. This year, they decided to have the launch in Muar due to its historic significance, dating back to the Portuguese invasion of Malacca in 1511.
"This place was also a fortress during attacks by the Dutch and Achehnese," he added.

KUALA LUMPUR : The government is focusing on strengthening the creative economy to boost Malaysia's competitiveness and produce high-value content for both the local and international markets. Communications minister Fahmi Fadzil said the aim is to develop commercially viable works that can be exported, while also nurturing talent and expanding the creative industry's value chain. 'We hope these efforts will increase our competitiveness through the production of works with high commercial value for local and international enjoyment, including the exports of IPs,' he said at a press conference after the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) was tabled in the Dewan Rakyat today. Fahmi said his ministry would direct MyCreative Ventures to manage funding while Finas would oversee certification and licensing – particularly in line with the government's focus on animation. He said this follows Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's instruction to prioritise the animation sector. Fahmi also announced a nationwide online briefing tonight to grassroots leaders to explain the government's initiatives under the 13MP. 'When we support grassroots efforts in spreading government aspirations, the people benefit in the long run,' he said. Earlier today, Anwar tabled the 13MP in the Dewan Rakyat, which included major reforms to the education and economic systems, and policies for an ageing population.

Komuniti MADANI Rolls Out Programmes Since July To Foster Patriotism, Unity
REGION - SOUTHERN > NEWS ALOR GAJAH, July 31 (Bernama) -- A series of programmes aimed at fostering patriotism and unity in conjunction with this year's National Month have been actively rolled out by the Komuniti MADANI members across Melaka since mid-July. State Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Communications Committee chairman Datuk Fairul Nizam Roslan said the initiatives involve participation from all levels of society, including school students and state constituencies. 'In Melaka, we have members of 84 Komuniti MADANI who have been actively organising various programmes and activities to enliven the National Day celebrations. These initiatives are supported through allocations channelled by the Information Department and the Ministry of Communications, ' he said. bootstrap slideshow He added that the programmes include a variety of activities such as debates, independence-themed storytelling sessions, and the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) 2025. Fairul Nizam also emphasised that the initiative to fly the Jalur Gemilang, whether at government offices, private premises, or residential homes, must adhere to proper flag display etiquette. He stressed that the national flag must be displayed in a clean and respectful condition, not worn, torn, or flown upside down, as had occurred in previous instances. 'Proper and dignified display of the Jalur Gemilang is important. It is not just our national flag; it is a symbol of our respect and love for the country.
