AN ICONIC toy chain has revealed a list of the top 100 toys of all time, including some childhood classics.
The team of buyers at Hamleys has rounded up its favourite games, dolls and more throughout history as it marks its 265th birthday.

Victoria Kay, head buyer at Hamleys, said: "Once you start looking at this (list), it turns rapidly into a nostalgia-fest – even for toys from four or five years ago."
Classic toys such as Barbie dolls, first launched in 1959, made the top 100 list, as well as iconic card game UNO.
LEGO Harry Potter, which first went on sale in 2018, also made Hamleys' list.
Some nostalgic toys also featured, including space hoppers, which first launched in 1970, and Jenga.
We reveal the top 100 list down below, but here are five standouts.
Monopoly

A game which inevitably leads to debate and arguments among friends and family, Monopoly first launched in 1935.
The true icon of board games, more than 113 local editions exist in countries across the world with it available in 46 languages.
Since its launch almost a century ago, it is believed to have sold over 300million copies worldwide.
You can currently pick up the classic Monopoly game from Smyths Toys for £14.99.
UNO

UNO was first developed in the United States

A simple but endlessly enjoyable game, more than 150million sets of UNO have sold worldwide across 80 countries.

The game, which you win by getting rid of all your cards, was first invented in 1971.
A pack of UNO cards is on sale for £3.99 currently on Amazon.co.uk.
Rubik's Cube

The Rubik's Cube was originally called a Magic Cube

No list of top toys would be complete without the Rubik's Cube, of which more than 500million copies have been sold globally.
Hamleys claims this makes it the biggest selling puzzle game of all time, after its launch in 1974.
The current world record for solving a Rubik's Cube is held by Xuanyi Geng, who completed a 3x3x3 cube in just over three seconds.
The Works is selling one on its website for £3.
Nintendo Game Boy

The classic 1989 Game Boy was the first console of its kind

Three Nintendo consoles made it onto Hamleys' top 100 list, including the 1989 Game Boy.
The first of its kind, the Game Boy line went on to become a cultural icon of the 1990s and 2000s.
An original 1989 device is currently on sale for £75 on CeX's website.
They have been known to sell for as much as £620 in the past though, while other retro computer games have gone for up to £1.5million.
Barbie

Everyone will remember playing with Barbie dolls at one point during their childhood

An undoubted staple in many children's lives growing up, the first Barbie doll launched in 1959.
Since then, one billion of the dolls, made by Mattel, are thought to have been sold worldwide.
So famous is the toy, a feature-length film was released in 2023 chronicling about the character.
Shoppers can currently buy a Barbie Fashionista doll on The Entertainer's website for £7.
Sell a vintage model and you could end up getting nearly £1,000 though, according to one expert.
What else made the list?
Other best-selling dolls made the list including Tiny Tears, Polly Pocket, My Little Pony and Bratz.
Action figures such as Action Man, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Star Wars figurines also made the cut.
Clackers from the 1960s featured - combining two balls attached to a piece of string that you can bang together to make a "clack" sound.

Meanwhile, Playstation and the Xbox also made an appearance.
Victoria, head buyer, said there were a multitude of reasons why toys are so successful among shoppers.
"They can be educational, encourage role play, drive imagination or problem-solving, they can bring comfort or develop hand-eye coordination – there can be so many factors in creating immersiveness.
'You can never underestimate the power of togetherness created around some of the big-sellers – those toys that bring people of all ages together – get families around a table talking, playing, challenging, maybe even cheating.
'We also mustn't forget that simplicity is often key – the joy of cuddling a doll or storytelling with an action figure or a superfast Hot Wheel car.
"Combined with a good dose of jeopardy and you have something truly memorable."

With visitors likening it to 'a slice of Italy on the British coast', I had high hopes, but I wasn't sure what my boys would make of it considering it's quite far removed from our usual holiday haunt. I needn't have worried though, as the Portmeirion magic seems to cast a spell over young and old. Made up of colourful houses and vibrant gardens set around a bay, the charming hotel-cum-holiday-park features two four-star hotels, one of which is set inside a castle, plus a motor-home park and several self-catering cottages. There are accommodation options to suit everyone and it really has got the wow factor that makes you think you're a million miles away from Wales. There's no playground or family-friendly features, just an old-world charm that suits quiet, meandering rather than rambunctious roaming and boisterous boys. On arrival, we spent a happy few hours on the giant chess set in the garden while my littlest paddled in the shallow pool nearby. One of the big travel trends over the past few years is set-jetting - fans of film and TV using their holidays to take them to the sights they've seen on screen. Think Death in Paradise viewers heading to the Caribbean island of Guadaloupe or Harry Potter fans taking a train trip on the tracks of the Hogwarts Express. But that's been happening here at Portmeirion for 50 years now, after the site shot to fame when it was used to film TV show The Prisoner. Its unique look was the perfect backdrop for this cult classic, in which a government agent is abducted and held captive in an idyllic seaside village which turns out to be a prison. I've never seen the show as it was a bit before my time, but heading down a shady path through rhondendron bushes and trees towards the shoreline put me in mind of Rebecca, the famous Daphne du Maurier novel set on a Cornish coastal estate. And maybe that's the secret to this special spot - you feel like you're stepping onto a film set or into the pages of your favourite novel, but it's entirely your choice which fantasy world that might be. But there's no chance of that happening here as there's something new to marvel at around every corner and so many little nooks and crannies to explore as you wind your way around the site and come across buildings, grottos and pools around every corner, framing the bay beyond. There's even an open air swimming pool for the use of holidaymakers staying in the cottages dotted around the village, the main hotel at its entrance or the motorhome park nearby. It's a century since architect Clough Williams-Ellis first started designing and building Portmeirion and it took 50 years to complete. His vision feels just as vibrant today as it ever did. A mile away is Minffordd station, where passengers can catch a train on the famous Ffestiniog and Welsh Highlands line, the world's oldest narrow gauge railway. 6 The Portmeirion hotel has an open air swimming pool Credit: Alamy So you could make a bit of a day of it and tick off two unique Welsh experiences that should be on every Brit's bucket list. You don't have to be spending the night to enjoy the wealth of facilities, either. Day passes to Portmeirion cost £37 for one adult and two children, with lots of different family tickets up to two adults and five children for £79. If you're touring Wales in a motorhome, there are pitches here which start at £55 per night and include complimentary access to the site out of hours and use of the outdoor pool. That's an option to consider if you want to see for yourself why this Welsh wonder and OG set-jetting site is still going strong after a century in situ. How Liam Neeson has fallen ‘madly in love' with Pamela Anderson after filming sex scenes together for Naked Gun reboot

During their promotion of the comedy — which first hit screens in 1988, starring Leslie Nielsen — the actress took snaps of the smartly suited actor's crotch, while he pretended to photograph her as she giggled on the floor. The off-screen chemistry went further with Liam planting a gentle kiss on the side of Pamela's head as he held her waist. Liam also joked that his favourite part of making The Naked Gun, which opens on August 1, was 'the sex scenes', which the pair were given an intimacy co-ordinator for. Leslie Nielsen, who died in 2010 at the age of 84, was always going to be an incredibly tough act to follow. His deadpan performances in Airplane! in 1980 and The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad! in 1988 transformed them into much-loved movies. Liam has made his name as a tough guy in the Taken films and had only made one comedy before. He was surprised to be offered the role by producer Seth MacFarlane, whose credits include Ted and Family Guy. Liam said: 'I didn't think I was funny, far from it. But I really enjoyed those Leslie Nielsen movies. We have a connection. I'll follow him anywhere Pammi on Liam 'When Seth pitched the idea, I thought maybe he saw something in me.' Pamela has done comedy, such as Blonde And Blonder in 2008, but had recently become more famous for her animal rights activism than acting. When Liam saw her audition tape he felt certain she was the right person to take over from Priscilla Presley as The Naked Gun sidekick. ABBA Voyage arena set to be demolished as developers unveil plans for housing estate

I can reveal plans have been drawn up to make way for a 1,000-home neighbourhood, which would mean the venue, constructed especially for the concert spectacle, will be demolished by the end of the decade to make way for apartment blocks. 2 The venue for ABBA Voyage is set to be demolished Credit: Alamy 2 The Swedish group's digital avatars will be kicked out of their East London arena Credit: ABBA Voyage The news is likely to devastate fans, as the group have said the concert — using state-of-the-art technology to show a younger version of the group on stage — is the closest anyone will come to seeing Agnetha Faltskog, Benny Andersson, Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Bjorn Ulvaeus perform together again. It also scuppers hopes the Spice Girls could take over the arena, in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, after The Sun revealed the girl group have been planning to create their own similar digital residency. The concert is currently booking up until January 2026, although it is expected to continue for longer. The show's CEO and executive producer Michael Bolingbroke previously said: 'ABBA Voyage will certainly run for another couple of years and hopefully longer — in an ideal world we'd stay for ever.' Building work on the first two phases of a major new estate is scheduled to start next year just metres away from the arena. Real loss That will include construction on the site of the nearby hotel and bar Snoozebox, where revellers often congregate after the performances and which only has permission to stay until the end of 2025. The first homes on the site are scheduled to be completed in 2028, but earlier this year, ABBA's Bjorn said he believed the arena could remain until 2029. He explained: 'We are allowed to stay in our venue till 2029, but sales might drop, you never know.' The arena was originally built as a moveable venue, but the band later admitted they hoped the show would stay in the area. During its run, ABBA Voyage has attracted more than two million visitors and has contributed £1.4billion to the UK economy. ABBA make a rare appearance together as they are honoured by the King and Queen of Sweden A spokesperson for ABBA Voyage said: 'We are in constant dialogue with the London Legacy Development Corporation and Newham Council about our lease and we welcome the opportunity to stay at the arena for as long as viable. 'At present, there are no plans for any changes to be made.' It would be a real loss for it to go, but it's certainly been a massive triumph.
