Lola Amour drops new song 'The Moment,' announces sophomore album 'Love on Loop'

GMA Network7 days ago
Lola Amour has a fun new single and they enlisted Kokoro of Japanese group Psychic Fever from Exile Tribe for it.
Titled 'The Moment,' the track blends Lola Amour's signature sound, some Japanese city pop elements, and Kokoro's smooth vocals. The song is all about the excitement of meeting somebody new, having feelings for them, and wondering if these are mutual.
Alongside the track, the band also released a lyric video for 'The Moment,' showing them during the songwriting and recording process.
But that's not all. The OPM band announced during an exclusive media conference at the Warner Music Philippines office that their second album, 'Love on Loop,' is coming out on August 15.
Described as their most personal and sonically expansive project yet, the album explores the many phases of love, from infatuation and connection to distance and heartbreak, all wrapped in Lola Amour's signature mix of pop, rock, and funk.
This year, Lola Amour released the singles 'Maria,' 'Misbehave,' and 'Dance with My Mistakes,' the latter of which kickstarted a dance challenge with SB19 and their former bassist, Raymond King.
Lola Amour released their self-titled debut album in April 2024, and celebrated with a grand album launch at the Circuit Makati Event Grounds, a sold-out show at Draft Punk in Cebu, and an album tour.
They are best known for the songs, 'Fallen,' 'Maybe Maybe,' 'Umiinit,' 'Namimiss Ko Na,' and of course, 'Raining in Manila.' —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA Integrated News

First permanent Pokemon theme park to open in Tokyo

TOKYO — The wildly popular Pokemon franchise will open its first permanent theme park in Tokyo in spring 2026, the Pokemon Company—a subsidiary of Japanese gaming giant Nintendo—announced. Japan has welcomed a record influx of visitors in recent months, boosting demand for tourist attractions, including a "Making of Harry Potter" film-studio park that opened in Tokyo in 2023. Named "PokePark Kanto," the new 2.6-hectare (6.4-acre) area will be located within Yomiuri Land, the Japanese capital's largest amusement park, the company said Tuesday. "We want to create a space where Pokemon are always present and where people can have fun with them," its chief creative fellow Junichi Masuda said in a video announcement. The park will have two areas: a Pokemon "forest" described as a "spacious wilderness" and an area for shopping and rides. Pokemon became a global hit after its 1996 launch as a role-playing game for Nintendo's handheld Game Boy console. Inspired by the Japanese summer childhood tradition of bug-collecting, players catch and train in battle hundreds of round-eyed "pocket monsters" inspired by everything from mice to dragons. The franchise also includes movies, an animated TV show, and the "Pokemon Go" augmented-reality mobile game. — Agence France-Presse

Lola Amour is 'keeping it simple' in new musical era

Best believe that Lola Amour has got some bangers coming your way. This year, the band released the singles 'Maria' with Oliver Cronin, 'Misbehave,' 'Dance with My Mistakes,' and 'The Moment' with Kokoro of Japanese group Psychic Fever from Exile Tribe, which are all part of their sophomore album 'Love on Loop' coming out on August 15. Lola Amour is in a new era now, evident in the songs' new themes and sounds. Saxophonist Jeff Abueg told GMA News Online in an interview that they are now "keeping it simple" and more digestible, not just for the band but also for the fans. 'There is definitely like a level of growth and maturity that the band has reached because of that goal,' Jeff said. Jeff added that the band also worked with producers, which is something they've never done before. 'We tried it out, we loved it, and here we have 'Love on Loop,' like a full album of everything that we wanted,' he said. Jeff further teased that 'Love on Loop' is like 'a story -- like, each individual has their own story, we put it together.' The band also describes it as their most personal album to date. Vocalist Pio Dumayas added that the new album is more than just the topics of the songs. 'Nakikita mo dun sa music na nagiba talaga 'yung sound. It is a level of growth that we're trying to communicate. There's a level of experimentation and, I don't know, exploring, expanding horizons for ourselves as well na, 'ah, kaya rin pala namin gumawa ng kantang ganito,'' he said. Pio also teased that Lola Amour is holding a show to celebrate the release of 'Love on Loop.' Lola Amour released their self-titled debut album in April 2024, and celebrated with a grand album launch at the Circuit Makati Event Grounds, a sold-out show at Draft Punk in Cebu, and an album tour. Lola Amour says they don't let pressure of creating another hit dictate the music they make

Lola Amour has had a roster of hit songs throughout their career, like 'Fallen,' 'Dahan Dahan,' 'Pwede Ba,' and of course, 'Raining in Manila.' 'Raining in Manila' has been a massive hit since it came out in 2023, with the likes of National Artist Ricky Lee and K-Pop band Enhypen becoming fans of the song. Michael V. even made a spoof of the song titled 'Waiting Here sa Pila.' The song gave Lola Amour a larger fanbase in the Philippines and abroad, and it is safe to say that it still gets played today. But despite producing a megahit, Lola Amour has their feet planted on the ground, and is not letting any pressure get to them to release another one. In an interview with GMA News Online, vocalist Pio Dumayas said that there is always pressure to an extent when it comes to creating and releasing songs, 'but the point is, we don't let that pressure dictate what kind of music we make.' 'I don't want to put anyone down who's chasing hits, but I don't think that's something that works for us, because what has been working for Lola Amour for the longest time is to make whatever music we want to and then hope someone likes it,' he said. Pio added, 'You can see it from our discography na magkaiba talaga lahat ng kanta namin and walang nagbago. I guess it's just the way 'yung taste namin, the way we write music, but the why of why we make the music is it's always been the same.' Trumpet player Angelo Mesina said that they are not the type to follow trends with each release. 'Even way back then, we made songs to cater to what we felt was right for the song. We made the music to encapsulate what the lyricist made, what we felt during at that time, didn't necessarily dictate to what genre it could be.' Keyboardist David Yuhico said it best: 'As someone wise once said, it's about the art and not the charts.' Lola Amour is set to release their sophomore album 'Love on Loop' on August 15. This year, Lola Amour released the singles 'Maria,' 'Misbehave,' 'Dance with My Mistakes,' and 'The Moment.' Lola Amour released their self-titled debut album in April 2024, and celebrated with a grand album launch at the Circuit Makati Event Grounds, a sold-out show at Draft Punk in Cebu, and an album tour. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
