Bengals Trade Failure Means Shocking Cut Of Defensive Star Germaine Pratt
Trey Hendrickson, you are not alone.
The Cincinnati Bengals entered this offseason with a number of very good players that they have to pay on both sides of the ball.

Or ...
Not pay.
But having that many stars means a team migth have to pick and choose which ones they pay and which ones they have to let go.
And now we have confirmation of the speculation ... as the Bengals are indeed going to release star linebacker Germaine Pratt.
Pratt has requested a trade in the past, but the team failed to find one that fit.
Pratt has been a standout for the Bengals, especially this past season, where it was a bit of a surprise to some that he was not named a Pro Bowler. He finished the year with 143 total tackles, which tied him for 10th in the NFL.
He was also able to showcase his versatility by getting to the quarterback with five QB hits, as well as his ball-hawk skills with two interceptions.

And he's a team captain.
The Bengals - who with this move will save $5.6 million in 2025 cap space - have also showed hesitancy in paying another one of their defensive players in edge rusher Hendrickson.
The team allowed the eighth-most yards this past season, so it might be time for them to reset and rebuild that side of the ball from the ground up.
Whichever team decides to sign Pratt will be getting one of the best tackles in the league ... while the Bengals will be turning their attention back to figuring out what to do with Hendrickson in a market that suggests he might deserve $30 million APY.

Bengals deemed a potential landing spot for Alabama Crimson Tide football coaching legend Nick Saban
The Cincinnati Bengals are approaching an uncomfortable crossroads as a franchise. Owner Mike Brown's reluctance to timely pay stars and improve the infrastructure around the team has not aligned with a squad led by an elite quarterback who is desperately trying to return to the Super Bowl. Beyond roster construction, particularly on defense, coach Zac Taylor has been a source of frustration for underachieving campaigns and some questionable late-game execution. If the Bengals have another substandard season, one national media talking head thinks the Bengals should part ways with Taylor and target a college football icon. In a recent episode of "The Herd," Nick Wright suggested Nick Saban should come out of retirement to take the headset in Cincinnati. "I think Nick Saban could be an interesting idea for Cincinnati," Wright said. "He has to coach up the defense and have someone to have as big a voice as Mike Brown. Let Joe and Ja'Marr handle the offense. If I'm Nick Saban and want to do this, I'm interested in having a contender immediately." Wright alluded to the fact that Saban still clearly has an elite football mind and has a sharp attention to detail, likely referring to his stellar work on ESPN's "College Gameday." Saban was just 15-17 as a head coach in the NFL during his brief stint with the Miami Dolphins two decades ago and could have a desire to prove he can succeed at the next level. At 73, the question is whether he wants the stress of running a professional organization when he could just continue his career as a beloved television analyst. If Saban wants a job, he's getting it.

Read more: Dolphins' Tyreek Hill Sends Big Warning to Rest of NFL As shared by Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, Taylor has stated that Burrow will play more during the preseason than he has ever played before this year. "Bengals HC Zac Taylor said QB Joe Burrow will play more this preseason than ever before, as the team looks to start the season faster than in years past," Meirov wrote on X. Following that news, NFL fans have lashed out at the team. They do not think risking a quarterback who has had some nagging injury issues in recent years is a smart decision from the Bengals. "Yeah cause the offense was the big problem last year," one fan wrote. Another chimed in, "Cool but they have no D. So it don't matter." "Keep that young man healthy," a third comment said. A fourth comment read, "Starting injury prone QB all preseason is a disaster waiting to happen." "Sure. Increased Burrow preseason reps will help the D not give up 40 per game," a fifth comment said. Burrow has been just fine during the regular season. Last year, he completed 70.6 percent of his pass attempts for 4,918 yards, 43 touchdowns, and just nine interceptions, while also running for 201 yards and two scores. He was able to play all 17 games. Only time will tell what will come from this decision. It's a definite risk, but Cincinnati is getting aggressive.
