We'll go over this 'Rob Mac' thing one more time. The actor and co-owner (along with Reynolds) of the Wrexham AFC team formerly known as Rob McElhenney grew weary of folks mispronouncing his name. So the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia co-creator (with Glenn Howerton) and star legally changed his name to Rob Mac — and we all just have to be cool with that, OK?
Anyway, this isn't about those guys (though they are executive producers on Necaxa). At least, it isn't until they infiltrate the Necaxa trailer trying to speak Spanish. Let's let Eva handle this one, fellas.
'Football in Mexico is a language,' Longoria introduces the trailer. 'It's the national language.'
And one that she actually speaks, Rob.
Necaxa, which hails from FX and Disney+ Latin America and follows the Liga MX's Club Necaxa, is described as 'a gripping bilingual docuseries chronicling a turbulent, transformational time marked by staff shake-ups, career-defining injuries and the relentless grit of a football team determined to defy expectations and deliver hope to its city of Aguascalientes, Mexico.'
'Once a powerhouse in Mexican football, Club Necaxa has spent decades navigating instability including relocations and near-constant reinvention,' the series description continues. 'Though its legacy has flickered in and out of the national spotlight, a passionate core of diehard supporters continues to believe, clinging to the dream that their beloved 'Rayos' will one day rise again.'
Other executive producers on the program include Cris Abrego, Rachelle Mendez, Nicholas Frenkel, Jackie Cohn, George Dewey, Alex Fumero and Diana E. Gonzales. Necaxa is produced by Hyphenate Media Group (Eva's company), More Better Productions (Rob Mac's), Maximum Effort (Ryan's) and 3 Arts Entertainment.
Necaxa premieres on Aug. 7 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FXX, with episodes available to stream the next day on Hulu and available on Disney+ internationally. Each of the first three Thursdays will see a pair of new Necaxa episodes rolled out — the final four episodes will come out one per week after that until the (TV show's) season finale on Thursday, Sept. 18.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner's death: Police clarify his daughter's whereabouts at time of actor's drowning
Officials are setting the record straight about Malcolm-Jamal Warner's death. Despite earlier reports, Costa Rica's Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) told People on Friday that the 'Cosby Show' alum's daughter was actually not in the water at the time of his drowning. 'Mr. Warner was playing with his daughter at the seashore at one point. He then left her out of the water, and he and a friend of his entered the sea,' the statement, which was translated from Spanish to English, stated. Advertisement 9 Malcolm-Jamal Warner. Danny Moloshok/Invision/AP 'It was at that moment that they were swept away by the current, and the friend managed to get out,' the statement continued. 'However, Mr. Warner was unable to get out and was pulled out by several people on the beach. He received care from Red Cross officials, but was pronounced dead at the scene.' On Monday, Costa Rican National Police confirmed to The Post that bystanders had pulled Warner from the water and taken him to shore. Playa Grande lifeguards confirmed they were 'not present' on the beach at the time of the accident due to a lack of 'resources.' Warner's body was transported to the morgue at San Joaquin de Flores for an autopsy. His cause of death is listed as asphyxiation by 'submersion.' His wife was allegedly not in the country and learned about the tragedy through a phone call. 'I ran to the area and entered the sea with my surfboard, heading into the rip current toward the person being pointed at by some beachgoers,' he explained. 'After a few minutes, I saw a shadow, dove down and pulled the person out.' Once the doctor got to shore, he saw the second bystander, who had helped rescue Warner, struggling to breathe while lying on the sand. 9 Malcolm-Jamal Warner celebrates the holidays with his daughter. malcolmjamalwar/Instagram '[He was] just someone who tried to help during the emergency, without any rescue equipment.' They added that there are signs placed along the beach in both Spanish and English 'warning of the danger of death due to drowning.' 'But I think … there's a generation of young people who have pursued higher education or have started loving families because of the influence of that show.' Advertisement 'So it's kind of like, you can't discount its impact on television culture and American culture,' he expressed. After news of the tragedy broke, Cosby, 88, addressed Warner's death, revealing that it felt like losing his own son, who was murdered in 1997. He told The Post through his rep: 'While I was their TV dad, I never stopped being a father to them.'

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors "Happy Gilmore 2" is officially streaming on Netflix, and the sequel comedy, 30 years in the making, is making waves online. Reportedly jam-packed with tons of cameos, the new comedy brings back Adam Sandler to one of his most iconic roles. Most of the time, comedies that are revisited 30 years or more after they were made don't typically go over well. There have been a lot of reviewers who were pleasantly surprised by the sequel, but there are also a lot that also point to the film's many flaws. I had a great time with a sequel that I never expected to recapture the glory of the original & it didn't but that's ok! It's fun, it put me in a good mood & the cameos are so funny. Ben Stiller, Eminem shine in small roles but boy are they hilarious. Lots of more cameos too but Adam Sandler still proving he's a comedy genius. LOVED IT." Happy Gilmore 2... Pathetic attempts at nostalgia. A thousand recycled jokes. Empty cameos. Extremely unfunny jokes. Don't waste your time with it. — 🎬🔥Jeff W (Rookie Critic) 📹🥪 (@therookiecritic) July 25, 2025 Jeff W writes: "Happy Gilmore 2... Pathetic attempts at nostalgia. A thousand recycled jokes. John Daly, Will Zalatoris and Scottie Scheffler absolutely killed it, they were hilarious. But tbh, they probably should have left it alone… it felt like a lot of nostalgia and not much depth. — TJ Kennedy 🇺🇸 (@TheTJKennedy) July 25, 2025 TJ Kennedy reveals the nostalgia bat was not that great by stating: "Happy Gilmore 2. I am so very pleased to report that #HappyGilmore2 doesn't suck and is genuinely funny with a lot of heart. It's not on par with the original but only being a few strokes behind after three decades away is honestly a gigantic win for modern feature length comedies. — Peter Brown (@alsopeterbrown) July 25, 2025 Despite some negative outliers, Peter Brown begins the slew of positive reviews with: "I am so very pleased to report that #HappyGilmore2 doesn't suck and is genuinely funny with a lot of heart. It was the sequel I didn't know I wanted but needed. Lots of laughs all throughout. One of the best first acts I've seen to a movie this year. 'Happy Gilmore 2' Review: Adam Sandler's Netflix Sequel Is Terrible — and Fans Will Love It — The Hollywood Reporter (@THR) July 25, 2025 The Hollywood Reporter starts negative, but reveals that fans of the original will love "Happy Gilmore 2" for multiple reasons. #HappyGilmore2 was a ton of silly, completely unserious and absolutely entire cast plus a bunch of cameos were Sandler was great, the same silly angry man,now tackling midlife was hilarious and Ben Stiller was fun time! — Shreesh (@Shreeshmoviekid) July 25, 2025 Shreesh states: "#HappyGilmore2 was a ton of silly, completely unserious and absolutely entire cast plus a bunch of cameos were Sandler was great, the same silly angry man,now tackling midlife was hilarious and Ben Stiller was fun time!" There are plenty of people that don't particularly care for films that rely on reused bits and nostalgia, but it appears the sillyness of Adam Sandler has come through again in a big way. Netflix's ‘Squid Game' Season 3 Viewership Is Half Of Season 1
Squid Game season 3 Squid Game has evaporated from everyone's mind after its season 3 finale a month ago, but continuing to track the show on Netflix's viewership charts, it's becoming clear that this is in no way going to reach the highs of the previous two seasons. Here's the data: So, that's half the viewers of season 1, and a little over a third of hours viewed, albeit some of that can be chalked up to the shorter season. However, I think it's worth comparing to season 2 as well, given that there were only six months between them, rather than the three-year gap between seasons 1 and 2. There is still more time to go in terms of counting views of season 3, as this chart tracks 90 days, but clearly it's hugely frontloaded, so don't expect many increases from here. If that's the case, that's losing 50-60 million viewers in half a year, indicating that many simply didn't care to return for the finale of the series. It is still the case that Squid Game is big enough, even with these declines, that it sits comfortably near the top 10 of all Netflix shows, English or non-English, across all its seasons. By views: However, we are about to see the arrival of Wednesday season 2 and Stranger Things season 5 before the end of 2025, which I imagine will push at least season 3 down two more places. All of this is ahead of the idea that Squid Game is likely going to get an American spin-off of the show, plus perhaps a spin-off that takes place between seasons 1 and 2. Its creator has also not fully ruled out sequel shows either. Sound silly? It's not. Even with declines, you can see how important Squid Game remains to Netflix, even if it's clear a lot of fans have lost interest, and few were satisfied by season 3 and its finale. They will press forward. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, Bluesky and Instagram. Pick up my sci-fi novels the Herokiller series and The Earthborn Trilogy.
