Who is in the WNBA 3-point contest? Tracking Caitlin Clark rumors, confirmed participants for 2025 event

Yahoo9 hours ago
The 2025 WNBA season reaches its unofficial midway point when the stars converge in Indianapolis for All-Star Weekend.
This year marks the first time Indianapolis will be home to WNBA All-Star festivities, and the host Fever will be well represented in the All-Star Game with the trio of Aliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark, and Kelsey Mitchell. Before Saturday's All-Star Game, however, the weekend begins with Friday's Skills Challenge and 3-point Contest.

Clark's representatives told ESPN's Shams Charania in January that she 'wants her first three-point contest to be at WNBA All-Star in Indianapolis this summer." All eyes are on whether she will officially commit to the event after her 2025 campaign has been dampened by injuries and a shooting slump.

While there are questions around Clark, a few sharpshooters did not hesitate to put their names in the field early on, adding intrigue to this year's event. Last year, Dream All-Star Allisha Gray put forth a historic showing by winning both competitions on Friday night, but it is not yet clear if she will defend one or both titles in 2025.
Here are the latest rumors and confirmed participants for the 2025 WNBA 3-point contest.

"I think we can get a confirmation —yes, I am," Citron said. This came days after she was spotted using All-Star teammate Kiki Iriafen as a 3-point shooting rack during a pregame workout.
Is Caitlin Clark in the 2025 WNBA 3-point Contest?
Clark has not officially confirmed if she will be participating in the 2025 WNBA 3-point contest.
In January, Clark turned down an offer to take part in a 3-point contest at NBA All-Star Weekend, and it was reportedly because her sights were set on making her 3-point contest debut in front of her home fans in Indianapolis.
Clark has dealt with quad and groin injuries in the first half of the 2025 WNBA season, but it is unclear if the injuries will impact her decision.

Candace Parker Didn't Hesitate When Naming Three WNBA Players Better Than Caitlin Clark

Candace Parker Didn't Hesitate When Naming Three WNBA Players Better Than Caitlin Clark originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Although she has missed 10 games due to multiple injuries, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark was named a captain for the 2025 WNBA All-Star, receiving the most fan votes of any player in the league. Advertisement Through 12 games this year, Clark has seen a significant decrease in scoring production. She is averaging 16.7 points on 37.4 percent shooting, compared to 19.2 points at 41.7 percent during her rookie season. But her playmaking has continued to improve, jumping from 8.4 assists per game in 2024 to 9.0 in 2025. Over her two seasons, Clark has become one of the better players in the WNBA. And Los Angeles Sparks legend Candace Parker would agree, even though she has three players better than the former Iowa Hawkeyes star. On Monday, Parker joined Complex Sports and shared her WNBA player rankings list, with "S" as the best and "D" as the worst. Parker started by listing her three "S" players. "A'ja Wilson, reigning MVP, couple Defensive Player of the Years, two championships," Parker said. "If there was something higher than S, I would definitely put her up there. Napheesa Collier. She's up there with top tier with A'ja. Just her ability to play on both sides of the ball. Pump fake, she's gonna make you choose wrong... Breanna Stewart. The versatility. Reigning champion from last year. She's got three of them things. I don't think there's any debate with that." Advertisement WNBA legend Candace ParkerJayne Kamin-Oncea-Imagn Images Parker then went on to rank Clark one spot lower than the above three. "This is where it gets tricky," Parker continued. "Caitlin Clark is at an A level. I think in time, she's going to raise up to that S, but in order to put her at that level, she's gotta have a couple more years." Parker also added Sparks guard Kelsey Plum and Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu to the "A" tier with Clark. Clark and the Fever will be back in action on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. ET, eyeing a three-game winning streak as they hit the road to face the Connecticut Sun. Fever Coach Stephanie White's Blunt Response to Exciting Caitlin Clark News

Fever Coach Stephanie White's Blunt Response to Exciting Caitlin Clark News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Looking for their third straight win, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever visited Boston to take on coach Stephanie White's former team, the Connecticut Sun, on Tuesday at TD Garden. Advertisement In her second WNBA season, Clark has seen a drop in her scoring production from last year, averaging 16.7 points on 37.4% shooting, 4.8 rebounds and 9.0 assists per game. She is also having one of the worst 3-point shooting seasons of her career, averaging just 28.9% through 12 games. But a three-game stretch before Clark's groin injury may have cost her total average. From June 19-24, she shot 1-of-23 from distance, good for 4.3%. Still, despite the recent shooting woes, Clark accepted an invite to perform in the 3-point contest at the 2025 WNBA All-Star Weekend, which will be held at Gainbridge Fieldhouse (Indianapolis). The former Iowa star notably did not participate in 2024. Caitlin Clark will participate in the 3-point contest at the 2025 WNBA All-Star Ruszkowski-Imagn Images Ahead of Tuesday's game, White joined the media in Boston for a pregame press conference. When asked about Clark playing in the 3-point contest, White shared her response. Advertisement "She doesn't need any pointers from me," White said. "No, we haven't talked about it. In fact, I saw it on the news. But, I mean, I'm happy that she's doing it. Certainly, in the state of Indiana and Indianapolis, so it's a great opportunity to continue to showcase what she does best to our fans and WNBA All-Star fans." Along with Clark, four other WNBA stars will be participating in the 3-point contest. Those include Washington Mystics guard Sonia Citron, Atlanta Dream guard Allisha Gray, New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu and Los Angeles Sparks guard Kelsey Plum. The 2025 WNBA 3-point shootout will take place on Friday at 8:00 p.m. ET, before the All-Star game the following day. After Tuesday's game, the Fever will have one final battle before the big weekend, facing the Liberty on Wednesday.
